People also forget that, until it became political advantageous for him to do nothing about COVID, he did put restrictions in place. And when the vaccines were first being rolled out he made sure that the first batches were made available to his donor blocks in central florida before anywhere else.

I'm Australian. We are an island, so it's hard to compare our Covid Rates with America's, because we could keep it out. But you are 5 times more likely to have died of Covid in the USA than you are in Australia. And we don't have a 'Debt Ceiling' here. We don't need one, because our Economy is back in Positive Territory now because we kept Essential Services and Mining Operations going thru the Corona Period. I recognise we were in a different situation. But we have similar rates to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and New Zealand. When you add us all up, it's a similar number to the Population of the USA. Sometimes America only comparing itself to itself can be misleading.

My sister is a respiratory therapist in Florida. She lost count of how many patients she lost to Covid. Unvaccinated couples, admitted together, or days apart, then quarantined, dying within hours of eachother.
She got burned out on the misery and double shifts. Took a job as a travelling respiratory therapist. Excellent pay, but months away from home.
She just renewed her RT license and was disgusted to see the governor's signature on it.
He did not care about the hospitals, doctors, nurses etc being overloaded. While he slept at night.
I have a feeling that Florida is going to see a mass exodus of health care workers and teachers. DeFascist is soooooooooo anti-healthcare, anti-teacher and anti-business. They have a lot of issues down there that really are out weighing any positives (weather, no sales tax) of living in Florida.

It was elderly, obsess, diabetic and Vitamin deficiency patients. even the CDC confirms it. Yeah... I was a healthy 60 year old solo sailor. Got covid 3 times in Florida and now I'm physically incapable of living my life. Now I've retired from yacht building because my liability insurance won't cover me anymore, and DeSantis's WFC ( Water cops) are hassling me almost every month to look at my head ( toilet) like they didn't a few weeks before. The U.S. has over 1,164,934 covid deaths today, because D.T. didn't like how a pandemic would look for his reelection campaign! Bob: I also got COVID19 twice the first time it took me 2 months to just be able to go outside the house for 4 hours. The next time one year later it was four months. I was so lethargic and unable to concentrate. I only drove to my doctor's appointments. It turned out that I got Autoimmune Hypothyroidism. There is specific bloodwork to check for it. Now I am on thyroid medication and take thyroid supplements. It won't hurt to have your doctor do a thyroid panel initially. Tommorow my hubby and I are going down to our 50 ft sailboat in Fort Pierce for the weekend. I hope that you find a doctor that really cares and helps you find answers. As a nurse of 38 years, I kept telling my previous ex Navy doctor at Orlando Health but he was a narcissist and a MAGA. Even when my thyroid panel came back that my TSH was very low he said that he would recheck it in SIX MONTHS! I kept calling his office telling him how how lethargic I was. He said that he didn't want to start me on Synthroid because I would be on it the rest of mt life. This was February, in July I ended up severely ill in the ER. They did a MRI of my neck and found that I have several nodules in my thyroid due to tissue damage from the virus. Now my new female Dr. has my labs & an ultrasound of my neck every 3 months. I also have Fibromyalgia from the virus attacking my immune system. There is blood work that detects a specific protein in your blood. I am being detailed because I know exactly how you feel . I went to an Estate lawyer to get my DNR legal. I don't want to live with anymore complications. If I needed to be resuscitated and lived , I would only suffer & possibly end up in a rehabilitation center....no thanks! I just got my every 6 month COVID19 vaccine last Monday. I still wear a mask in Publix as needed . Please be proactive in your recovery you need to be forceful to get a diagnosis. I cried a lot out of frustration that my PCP wouldn't comply with my quest to lve a normal life again. 😩
Here in Quebec we had some of the strictest covid measures. Out of 8.5 million people, we lost 15k. Science works.

This infuriates me. I live in Florida, and I can't stand DeSantis. Life in Florida, during the pandemic was an absolute nightmare for people with half a brain to see the lies DeSantis was spewing. I lost 12 loved ones in 2020, alone! For quite a while I would have my broken heart break all over again. Every single week (or more often).

Thank you for telling the truth about our "illustrious" governor here in Florida. I remember his brief "lockdown"... it started after other states, kind of as an after thought, and wasn't well enforced. The traffic in the area where I live, in central Florida, never really slowed down. And then before other states opened back up he decided the economy was more important than people's lives so the state was open for business again. Then there was the spring break fiasco that individual cities tried to manage without any assistance or guidance from the government. And now we have book bans and anti "CRT" policies... basically wiping slavery and black history off the books! This man is a danger to our state, let alone to the country as a whole!
It started from people traveling south to Texas, Florida and Louisiana from New York and Washington state. They should have had a travel ban from those 2 first infected states from traveling anywhere in the country, and also the southern border was wide open and none of the millions of illegals from 190 countries were being checked for covid at ALL. Get it straight.

Florida has had 4,111 deaths per million population due to COVID. US average was 3,520. California where I live had 2,601. So Florida had 58% more deaths than California, like for like. That equates to about 32,000 more deaths in Florida than had they followed CA policies and practices
Florida has 4,200 deaths /million on a per capita basis with a population of 21 million & 88,000 deaths to date.
Australia, with a 26 million population had 740/million deaths with a total of 20,000 deaths to date.
As for aged population, Japan has the highest aged population in the world & their deaths on a per capita basis was 595/million.

I was fortunate to have been transferred down here late 2019 so was fortunate to have witnessed how a proper response worked.
The country was one of the quickest in recovering, (the 2nd quickest of the G20 countries) & all the leaders had support from their opposition with most states being re elected with increased majorities.
They just didn't politicize it & followed health advice.
It wasn't a pretty sight watching what was going on in America from across the Pacific, let me tell you.

someone close to me (not from florida) died a horrific, weeks-long death after several of his employees spring-breaked at ft. lauderdale and returned home with covid.

DeSantis did recommend one treatment for Covid. Regeneron, his large donor. The principal problem with Regeneron was that it didn't work until one had becone infected with Covid, and also failed to work on the Omicron varient at all, even while DeSantis was still pushing it. It was a painful treatment, not 100% effective, but definitely his donor.
DeSantis continued promoting it for the Omicron Variant even after the Manufacturer agreed it didn't work.

As a nurse, after all the patients that died unvaccinated & not wearing a mask or handwashing I felt defeated by the patients that were hospitalized on ventilators then voted for him after they lived!

Desantis is very busy passing laws that take away people's freedoms, I'm just wondering when he will pass a law to hold insurance companies accountable for not paying any claims in the last three years.
Edit: DeSantis signed a bill a few days after my post "consumer protection bill." In this smoke screen there are some good measures, but he is basically just reinstating some of the things he had taken away. He also made sure to pass another bill two months before limiting the ability of a person to sue a business (e.g., an insurance company not honoring a claim). This guy has talent for slight of hand tactics.

Harvard Medical School should revoke Joseph Ladapo's medical degree, and his license to practice medicine should be revoked, full stop. A man who falsifies research to fit a preferred narrative and personal preferences isn't fit to hold any place of honor or public office, nor is he fit to make decisions about the health and well-being of patients.
Fauchi should take these accusations to the court. He has science backing up his claims. Desantis nor Trump nor many republicans has not. I bet there would be many lawyers who would take this case for some money from the final results.

It is unconscionable that a surgeon general would delete the data about benefits outweighed any risk of vaccination, in a state that says that it’s your choice to get one.
They believe it's a personal choice, but only if you choose not to get vaccinated. Reminds me of Henry Ford's famous quote "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants, so long as it is black."

The insidious part is that people actually believe that Florida did well during the pandemic. When you see the actual stats of all of the people who died in Florida, its mind boggling that this man was re-elected as Governor. He used government to cover up what was happening.
Thats why he used state powers to go after that one Health Department employee and raid her home and try to silence her because she knew that the numbers were being manipulated.
And when she started talking about it, he didn't like it. Considering how he's gone after Disney, this is now even more plausible to be believed.

You might really want to look at facts. Overall 80% of the people who died were over 65 but closer to 80 years of age. Had nothing to do with which state.
Every word is TRUTH! I well remember the lockdown we had here in Florida, I drove on nearly empty streets for nearly 3 months to go to work. DeSatan initially gave the vaccines for the public only to Publix pharmacies which donated to his campaign and were located only in wealthier neighborhoods; the appointment system was terrible and it was very difficult to get an appointment (unless you were one of his wealthy friends!). My employer (hospice) managed to get us in to our local health department for our initial vaccines. The nursing homes were given priority which was good but the lockdowns for them seemed to last a very long time. We did have bans against people from New York and a few other hot spots for a while, the beaches and parks were closed. Working for hospice, I had personal knowledge of the mess most of our hospitals had, the lack of PPE availability. He was an average governor until he decided to go anti-science... then he decided he needed to go “anti-woke” 👩🔬😡. He has become the worst governor, trying to outdo Abbutt at every turn in his desire to become president. 🤦♀️😬🤬

You ironically argued against yourself saying elderly were given priority as well. Any hospice program in any state would never receive priority for PPE or vaccines. Furthermore, the majority of the country did worse than FL and didn't have the large retired population that Florida has to contend with concerning health care. That population in and of itself was perfectly reflected in Italy where the median age is higher (just like FL) and 99% of their death toll was over 40 years old. Something so simple yet something so hard for people to grasp.

That is really sad. After vaccines were available, nearly all patients suffering from Covid in hospitals were unvaccinated, often watching Fox News. Some said they'd wished they had not listened to politicians and had gotten the vaccine. But it was too late. People like Ron who consistently criticized Dr. Fauci and sowed distrust about Covid precautions should be held accountable.
