Thank you, glad to be of help! I recently did a couple videos about this. Look for titles that mention the Akai APC40 controller (which is what I use for this process)
I also fell in love with it from RUclips videos and bought it straight away. I’m probably going to get smacked down here but to be honest, I doubt I will ever make anything musical with this device. Perhaps the other mode I might, but I just get experimental, soundscape sounds with a beat behind it. I’m sure it can a absolutely do what I was originally after but I can get the result quicker with a combination of other generative devices and the reason rack.
cool !! Yeah I`m kind agree with you about how building the composition via (real time) Jamming out in session view and recorded into arrangement view . Isn`t that the reason we`re all using Ableton in first place ?
I haven't been able to create anything resembling what I would consider a good hi hat or cymbal or shaker sound. Just that little clinky sound you're getting in this video. It's OK, but it's not really adequate as an overall solution for techno. Am I missing something?
It’s called Mass and it’s a standalone version of part of the Opal drum synth. The full version is a larger device with multiple synth engines and sequencer tracks. Check out opal.fors.fm and the previous video on my channel.
ableton always get the coolest plugins. seems like the perfect all in one drum synth. i don't think any other standalone drum synth comes close to it unless you buy at least 3 of the best ones but pay an extra 300 😂
It does, you can send them to different audio tracks in Live. I did however simply resample the sounds from the full version before moving on to the standalone versions of the different synth engines
I liked it but I have to admit that I bought it thinking it could export midi clips and then realized that you have to record audio, which I personally dislike. Still, a very creative device.
Have a look at this video guide to the APC40 (you can use another controller as well, like Push, Launchpad etc.) ruclips.net/video/POb406So534/видео.html
It’s a Max for Live instrument so the company would have to recreate the plug-in in another programming language.. maybe they will if enough people show interest? Their website is fors.fm
@@Tony_Tyson Thanks Tony .. i had checked that already .. guess it was more a wish than a question ;-) .. very nice tune you made with that one .. i guess i check out your other videos too .. cheers mate!
Simply select the MIDI track with the full version of Opal on it under “Audio From” on one or more audio tracks. In the drop-down menu underneath the top one you will see that multiple pairs of outputs from Opal can be selected, corresponding to the different synth engines and the effect track.
You make it look so easy 😂thanks for the inspiration {Opening Ableton}
Waited so long for this. No one had it nailed since Tremor. This is the one. Off to purchase now. Great job
Wow this sounds awesome! I’m a sucker for a great drum synth. You got a lot outta this.
that recording from session to arrangement view technique is incredible thanks for showing me that

This VST is very handy and fast in Sounddesign. Love it
I’ve got that exact t-shirt!….just sold my old APC40…never used it….just discovered Fors stuff…inspirational
this sounds amazingly similar to the Digitone!
Excellent device that I did not know, thank you for the discovery :)
You can do a Rack with 4 Operators (native FM Synth) and built own drum machine but this m4l interface really inspires
awesome video and format this deserves more attention!
fors is a "crazy" dev... a very very good one.
Sold! Awesome video. Looks like a great plug in. I dig your Shimmer send. Very nice.
Keep it up.
perfect mate, I can balance the mix the same way
Much better than my initial dabbling with Opal. Thanks for the inspiration.
This is amazing thanks so much for sharing! Love your challenge vieos, the VCV rack one was super inspiring too!!

Love it, pretty interesting sound
I’ve been looking at this and I think I will purchase it now having seen a real use of it. Thanks for doing the video Tony.
You’re welcome! Well worth the €49 imo

No I've also found it hard to get good sounding noise percussion out of the Dust module. Gem and Mass are the ones I like best.
I just got Opal because of this video 🎉
Brilliant
Really cool!
at 7:53 .. what is that Moss m4l synth? can you give some more details please?
It’s called Mass and it’s a standalone version of part of the Opal drum synth. The full version is a larger device with multiple synth engines and sequencer tracks. Check out opal.fors.fm and the previous video on my channel.
I like this but I use Bitwig. What’s the best VST alternative do people think?
Sounding good buddy!
Hey nice to see you here Marius!

Really enjoyed that. Great tune too. I've only just discovered the channel. Instant sub. 👍
Thank you! 🙏
Great work !
Fab as always. Thanks.
Thank you!
gENIAL
awsome video
By the second sound….I opened my browser to purchase 😂🎉
Strange choice to limit the market for this to Max for live users only. VST version would sell really well.
It's made with max4live. If it was vst it have to be rewritten is some programming language which will take a lot of time.
This is awesome, does Opal have separated audio outputs or how did you record audio in different tracks? Thanks!
It does, you can send them to different audio tracks in Live. I did however simply resample the sounds from the full version before moving on to the standalone versions of the different synth engines
@@Tony_Tyson thanks 🙌

You can use the devices with all other sorts of MIDI sequencers. You can't export due to the complexity of the built-in sequencer.
can link the tutorial in how to record in the arragement.....

.. could that be ever available as AU PlugIn?
It’s a Max for Live instrument so the company would have to recreate the plug-in in another programming language.. maybe they will if enough people show interest? Their website is fors.fm

It's possible if they use RNBO to port it. Ask the dev, maybe he'll listen lol.
@@publika6883 😄i might actually ask them .. thanks for the info .. cheers!
Please do plug in for LOGIC PRO X pleaseeee
Someone mentioned that they might be developing an AU version of Opal. It would be a smart move to address a bigger market.
how do you get the multi output on opal?
Simply select the MIDI track with the full version of Opal on it under “Audio From” on one or more audio tracks. In the drop-down menu underneath the top one you will see that multiple pairs of outputs from Opal can be selected, corresponding to the different synth engines and the effect track.
Nice tweaky little device. (Damn…50 euros) hmmm. Thanks for the demo 🙏
Shame it's not RNBO-ported. Looks and sounds great.
But I detest Ableton.
Let’s hope they create a cross platform VST version
Whhy do you detest ableton?
Nobody is perfect ! 🤭
That is one kick ass bit of software.
