Edit -- I used R-Linux from a Live CD of Linux Mint and the results were fantastic. I saved to a a local directory and the went sudo into the file manager and moved the files to a USB stick. Permissions were an issue on the local drive, but not on the USB stick. -- Edit End

Unless I'm missing something, there is a real danger of downloading R-Linux and over-writing the lost files!! You don't want to do this! It is best to download R-Linux before there are any problems.

Since I don't have these programs on my computer already, I will be looking into a CD/DVD based recovery method -- I'll create the CD/DVD on another computer and then boot to CD to recover the files.
After recovery, I will install R-Linux.

@@softhints See my edit. A live CD application worked great.

    My question is:
Using R-Linux, if I search the directory bar, and I have little space on my machine? can I perform this action?

I think yes. On my virtual machine I had little space and was able to run the experiments.

What is your version of the software?
What happens when you try to do so.

I guess the last resort is to ask a special service for data rescue.
In some cases they can save some data.
      Good luck!

I installed R-Linux, but after I put in my password (like you do at 0:57), nothing happens. What is going on here?

    • @softhints

To find out what is going on - start the app from terminal.
then you can share what errors do you have.

    R-Linux is not free

    • @softhints
      @softhints  Год назад

      Why do you think so?
I read that is free here: www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/#:~:text=R%2DLinux%20is%20a%20free,recovery%20for%20the%20Linux%20platform.
      Am I missing something?
