There are at least a dozen top tier all female Japanese hard rock/heavy metal bands, and they are all bad ass. You have just scratched the surface, Po!
I'm a metal head. I love a growling vocalist. But I also love Band-Maid. Saw them live twice last year on their US tour. And I agree with the smiles. I used to think there was no place for smiling in rock and metal performances. Then I discovered Japanese music.
This was an early song of theirs (when originally recorded) .They have only gotten better ... much better. You have found "the gap" ... the phenomenon the ladies created between what you see and what you hear. A concept dreamed up by MIKU, the band founder. All I can say is listen to as much as you can ... these ladies are GREAT!!! BAND MAID is: Miku Kobato (小鳩 ミク) - rhythm guitar, vocals, PR (Band founder, lyricist ... our flappy pigeon, po!) Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess) Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla) MISA MISA MISA - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor and performs without shoes on stage - the barefoot assassin) Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination - The Queen)
🐦 *Mike and Joe* 🐦 Welcome to the world of *BAND-MAID* (2013 - Present) A group of 5 young ladies from Japan that will rock your world: *Miku Kobato* (Kuruppo) = Lead Vocals / Rhythm Guitar *(Po!)* *Saiki Atsumi* (Sai-Chan) = Lead Vocals / Piano *Kanami Tono* (Kanamincho) = Lead Guitarist *Akane Hirose* (A-Chan) = Drummer *MISA* (MISA, MISA, MISA) = Bassist If you wish to continue down this Pigeon Hole 😊 you will enjoy over 100+ great songs you will start saying to yourself “This is my favorite *BAND-MAID* song”. _(No joke Po!)_ Below is a list of songs that will get you started Choose me (Official Music Video) DICE (Official Music Video) Blooming (Official Music Video) HATE? (Official Live Video) YOLO (Official Music Video) I discovered *BAND-MAID* in 2019 and came to a realization that *BAND-MAID* more then just a rock band they are a band that does not have any boundaries and is willing experiment into different genre from (Blues, Rock, Punk and Jazz) and a lot of fans including me would say “you got to check out their live videos” from: 2017-STUDIO COAST 2018-Zepp Tokyo 2020-LINE CUBE SHIBUYA 2021-BAND-MAID ONLINE ACOUSTIC In the end I realize that *BAND-MAID* more then just a band but a band that cares about each other and their fan base and in October of 2022 I had a fortune of experiencing them live and with that *BAND-MAID* cemented their Legacy into my heart. Rock On! 🤘 *100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back…*
Welcome to Band Maid. ❤ These ladies are masters at their instruments: Kanami (composer and lead guitar), Akane (drums) and Misa (bass). Then there is lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound and Miku Kobato (rythm guitar, pure energy, most lyrics, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies). I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. My favourite is currently "Corallium", but here is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special LIVE videos try "Freedom", "Corallium" and "Play". With "Moratorium" (Live at Zepp), "Rinne" (MV) and "Dice" you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are "Choose me" (MV) and "Alone" (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe "About Us" (MV) and "Daydreaming" (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like "From now on" (MV) and "Onset" (Live). And finally a very special mind blowing live performance is "Manners/Blackhole" (Official Online Live). At least these songs are needed to get the full story of Band Maid! And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-) They have rock, pop punk, funk, jazz, prog and more elements in their reportoire! Especially their earlier works are pop punkish Have fun... Po
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
11 years and 130+ songs of pure greatness. They have it all..Passion Work Heart Talent 🔥❤️🤘 For me..Greatest rockband in this Universe 💥 Greets from Finland 🇫🇮🤘
My opinion is that Band-Maid are one of the best bands to have formed in the past 15 years, and are currently one of the best rock and roll bands on the planet. They play many genres and styles including ballads, power ballads, pop, rock, progressive rock, hard rock, punk, metal, nu metal, and everything before in-between and beyond. They also have several great instrumental songs that they use live to give their lead singer Saiki a break. Some song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Clang, and Matchless Gum. Their latest live videos from Yokohama Arena are incredible. Don't You Tell Me and Hate are straight up bangers with guitar vs bass duels, and Endless Story is a tear jerker that even choked up the singer, Saiki, and the drummer, Akane, since it was the last song of their 10th year anniversary tour. Also, they just released a collaboration with The Warning called Show Them which is a must listen. If you listen to a song that you are not fond of then try something else because their songs are quite different from one to the other. Have fun with it!
I've seen Band-Maid live - St Andrews Hall in Detroit - everyone left the show with a huge smile on their faces. This band puts on a show that is fun. Their interaction with the audience is amazing: they do breaks with Q&A's, the rhythm guitarist leads the audience in call and response cheers, and they constantly troll on each other. But the musicianship is always top level. They recently celebrated their 10th anniversary with a North America/Japan tour with a 3-1/2 hour long final at Yokohama Arena. They did an even longer version of "Real Existence" that featured a bass/guitar duel. Band-Maid has created an incredibly deep catalog of original music in the 11 years they've been together. Their instrumentals are awesome: give "Onset" or "From Now On" a listen. Other songs to consider: "Puzzle", "Moratorium", "Corallium", "I'll", "Warning", but any song off their RUclips channel is worth a listen. Other Japanese bands to check out: Nemophila, Hanabie, Ningen Isu, Maximum The Hormone.
3:40 - "But apparently there's space for TWO all girl heavy metal bands from Japan." You have *no* _idea_ how many insanely talented, all female bands there really are in Japan. Here's a very short list of highlights. I'm including some female & male combo's in here. Hanabie - Harajukucore, a mix of metal, pop, rap, punk, electronica and a little bit of everything else. 'We Love Sweets', 'TOUSOU', . The Warning - Hard rock band out of Mexico comprised of 3 sisters. 'Evolve' live MTV music awards, 'Automatic Sun' music video, 'Dust to Dust' Live at Lunario. Nemophila - Metal & much more. They dabble in a little bit of everything. 'Rise' or 'Dissension' are a good place to start. 'Zen' live is heavy & 'Style' mv for fun. Saiseiga - A metalcore band with an amazing vocalist. 'Jumble', 'Hanabi', or try 'Sink' for something more ballad-ish. Banshimoku - Punk, funk, and more. 'Spanky Alien' was my introduction to the band. Otoboke Beaver - Straight-up punk. 'Don't Light My Fire' has one of the best, yet most simple, videos I've ever seen. DOLL$BOXX - Metal, electronic, pop, funk, etc. 'Take My Chance', 'Shout Down', 'Monopoly' Sokoninaru - They play, uh... _super_ technical everything. you'll just have to watch the video. 'Tenohira De Odoru' Maximum the Hormone - Metal, plus fifteen other genres. Sometimes in the same song. 'Yoshu Fukushu' is a good place to start. Asterism - Prog metal 3-piece instrumental band. Hal-Ca's guitar skill will explode your brain, 'Gunfire' live session, 'Church' live session. 'Dawn' live LOVEBITES - Power/thrash metal. 'Holy War' live, 'Thunder Vengeance' live, 'Stand and Deliver (Shoot'em Down)' music video Gacharic Spin - Rock, electronic, funk, pop, metal. 'Mindset' mv, 'I Wish I' mv, 'Redline' live. Trident - Rock, metal, pop. Another killer 3-piece band. 'Spoopy' mv, 'Ambivalent' live, 'Continue' mv, 'Cry Out' mv Plenty more bands if you finish this list.
Band-Maid is considered one of the best hard rock bands in the world ! This is an older music video these ladies have come a long way since this ! Please check out "HATE?" Official Live or the "From Now On" MV for something a bit heavier ! Thanks Guys for screaming bands try Nemophila or Hanabie
It's always so much fun to witness the birth of a brand new Maidiac, and this was a double shot! Welcome to the Maidiacs! I'm pretty sure you'll find the vast majority of us to be more aggressively welcoming than gatekeeper types. If you enjoyed that refreshing feeling, BAND-MAID has a HUGE catalog of music that could have you feeling refreshed for the rest of your life. Thanks for the great reaction and remember: Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID!! 🤘🤩🤘
Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid. Best rock band I've heard in decades. 11 years in now they have an incredibly deep and diverse catalogue. They can be wonderfully nostalgic yet are fresh and innovative. Hope you look further into these ladies. As you have already discovered, the best thing about them is they always make me smile.
My friends, you just listened to the best band in rock! I’d say best of all time. Their smiles are endearing and I LOVE IT!!! The idea of the maid outfits came from their founder, Miku Kobato, the rhythm guitarists.. Her aim is exactly what you guys noticed. Where are the big ugly long hair dudes REALLY playing the instruments? Move over, big ugly guys, these ladies are taking the rock music scene over……and smiling every step of the way!!! They have over 120+ songs, they now write their own music. Try “moratorium”, “Hate?” Or any song you happen to come upon….I have my favorites but no bad songs. I’ve been to a concert of their and it was the best…..And I’ve seen Van Halen, Rush in the old days… I LOVE EBAND MAID ❤❤
Great reaction guys and you've hit on the defining secret sauce about Band-Maid, they are extremely happy playing for their fans, it's called "Smile Rock". You'll find that the more you listen, the happier you'll be, it's replaced the apple.
Hi Guys! Do you like Rock, Hard Rock, Pop(ish), Metal(ish), Pop-Punk, sometimes jazz flavored music...with lasers? Then The Maids are the band for you! Thanks for checkin' 'em out! 🕊
Lore dump incomming: There is band lore 3/4 layers deep on "why did the singer (Saiki) hug bass player (MISA)?"... 1. they all have great chemistry and are very good friends outisde the "job", and oftentimes they make faces at each other during concerts in hope other person would missplay her part. 2. MISA (basist) plays barefoot live almost always - "so she can better feel drumkit through the stage" as she explains in interviews 3. Saiki (singer) took of her high heel shoes in previous song and wen't to stand on rail and sing literaly in the female section of the crowd 4. Saiki was also barefoot for most of this songs duration(she puts on her shoes during solo), which MISA noticed and was all like "look you're barefoot just as me" and there's the full lore behind the hug :D
Band-Maid is more on thehard rock than the metal side, though they occasionally cross that line. Japan has the biggest all-female hard rock and metal scene on the planet right now. And several of them (Band-Maid, BABYMETAL, LOVEBITES, Nemophila,, Hanabie, Aldious, Bridear, Otoboke Beaver, Gachric Spin, off the top of my head) are or have recently done world tours and are blowing up all over the world, not just in Japan. If you like Dragonfoce-like virtuoso guitar solos, LOVEBITES, Aldious and Nemophila are your destination! If you want death growls and hardcore breakdowns, Hanabie and Nemolphila are who you're looking for.
Way to go BM4life! Guys, you have no clue what you have done to broaden your musical horizons. I'm old (75) and have seen a lot of live rock in my life, from the iconic, Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, etc. to the not so lesser known. This is the best hard rock music I have seen in several decades. Band-Maid has restored the love we have for legitimate rock and roll that many Maidiacs (that's what their fans call ourselves) go to their live concerts from all over the world. If you look at the Band-Maid official RUclips channel the numbers will say over 200 million views and 40 million subscribers. The band has over 130 songs (all genre defying) in their extensive catalog. The more Band-Maid songs you react, the faster your RUclips channel will grow their loyal fans. We'll probably drive you crazy with song suggestions to listen to. We don't hate any other fanbase. We just love Band-maid and their music. I suggest the next song by Band-Maid to listen to is "Manners/Black Hole", the official live video. It's a two-fer that shows their amazing versatility as rock artists.
Band Maid and Baby Metal are two completely different things. Baby Metal is a great singer and with two great back up dancers backed by an incredible Metal Band (not even always the same same guys, depends on where they play). Band Maid is the band, they compose their music, write their lyrics, play their instruments and perform is all live with incredible skill. They are much closer to Love Bites than Baby Metal.
Hey! The Main difference between Band-Maid and Baby Metal is- Baby Metal is a dancing vocal group with a backing band. No instruments played. Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid- everything you want from rock and more. Wait until you see the guitar/bass duels. They are a happy band with loving and respectful fans. Try Moratorium or Domination Official Live Videos, or Blooming or Choose Me Official Music Videos. Great reaction thanks (UK).
There are many unique aspects to Real Existence that sets it apart from many rock songs: the starts and stops; Miku's little breakout vocal line; MISA's unique high-neck "fugue" during (in this performance) a homage dance with Saiki, both in black dress and shoeless; Akane's double tempo gallop; and Kanami's solo. I mean, who would ever put that kind of solo in a rock song? But it works... just like all of the plot-twists, complex density, and genre-merging they employ on most of their material. Every section offers something different than the previous one. That's one reason many people -- unless you're a musician - may find it difficult to get into their music at first listen. As tightly integrated as it is, there's so much going on. And then you add the Japanese language and maid outfits... But for people who like and appreciate their writing, musicianship, performance and personalities, Band-Maid's beautiful cacophony of excellence offers unlimited rewards for repeat listening... and mega stardom for the Maids, imxo.
Band Maid is mostly rock with many influences including metal. Their solos are short and crispy including bassist Misa!. They have fun on stage and great crowd interaction, the lyrics are mostly positive! 😍 And you will never see mosh pits etc during their concerts! And you are right: Don't stick with stereotypes 😅 check out HANABIE ("Otaku"), LOVEBITES("Holy war"), TRiDENT("Kickass"), GACHARIC SPIN ("Mindset"), NEMOPHILA ... there is much more from Japan than just Idols or cute girls in front of a metal band 😅 ... ah, I almost forgot: For some Japanese crazyness you have to find MAXIMUM THE HORMONE: "Let's Talk About Menkata Cottelee", "Alien", "Yakushu Revenge". But prepare for some crazy sh.*** All titles are in Japanese so trust the YT search result 😅😂 Band Maid is just my(!) taste because I am not so into growls and screams. And I like their intelligent and interesting compositions!
Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. BABYMETAL is one of them, of course. (I love both B-M and BM.) They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
@@chrisbergsten1429he would but Hanabie has closer to a hardcore element musically and with Yukina’s growls. No shade on Nemo I fucking love that band.
That feeling you get with the sweet look and the hard sound is by design.....it's called the GAP in Japan. This band has been together for 10 plus years and over 140 original songs. They have toured in the US severall times and sell out every venue. This is the second most popular female band in Japan behind Baby Metal. But this is a real band and the musicianship is second to none. This is the best current rock band on the planet !!!!!!!!
Welcome to Band Maid! The best Rock band on the planet. They’re excellent and you should check more of them out. Hate? Live, Warning, Shambles… they’re all great. If you want more hardcore stuff, Hanabie “we love sweets” Or since you mentioned Baby Metal, they did a song with Electric Callboy “Ratatatata” I guarantee you will smile during that one.
Welcome, Mike & Joe. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 210 million views just on their official YT channel, plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/видео.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Protect You, Sense, Different, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ruclips.net/video/7LB_EPS48HE/видео.html) And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts: 2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” ruclips.net/video/Za1y-RRVd70/видео.html ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ruclips.net/video/nAdWnIRjGak/видео.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ruclips.net/video/-qQnKILR5u0/видео.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. one of the top touring rock bands in the business today, all 5 are top tier musicians, probably why they have been together for 10+ years with the same line-up, none of that rock star crap about one member carrying the band
You guys are fun, I really enjoyed your reaction. I discovered Band-Maid 8 months ago and have been watching reaction videos ever since lol. You should definitely watch the live versions of the songs Hate?, Domination, Play and Freedom. Band-Maid also introduced me to several other Japanese bands. You asked if there is an all female metal band? Check out Lovebites. You want some growls and screams? Try Nemoplhila or Hanabie. You want something totally different? Waggaki Band. Plus, The Warning, 3 sisters from Mexico just plain rock. I'm a 60 year old hard rock fan and am genuinely looking forward too the future of rock for the first time in 20 years.
I grew up on all kinds of rock, hard rock, metal, punk, pop-punk. Band Maid plays all of these genres and more. I've seen them four times and their concerts are a blast. And when you go the audience is full of bearded metal guys, These ladies are great song writers and great musicians and we respect and love them for that. It doesn't matter what you look like. Though they are cute. They are funny and they love their fans.
Welcome to BAND-MAID enjoy your journey down the Pigeon hole , MISA !!! MISA !! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , BAND-MAID doing BAND-MAID things .
The Band-Maid fandom is the most welcoming group of fans you'd want to find. No gatekeeping by the Maidiacs. We're so excited to have discovered this band, many of us longtime rockers who had thought rock had died only to find out it was reincarnated better than ever in the form of an 800 year old pigeon and four young women from Japan -- well, we just want to spread the word so Band-Maid can spread the wonder and joy to more people.
You gentlemen should watch HATE? live from Yokohama Arena and wear a seat belt. Best rock band on the planet. Baby Metal is a corporate creation, Band Maid was formed organically and there are videos on every member of the band. Obviously you haven't seen Lovebites yet either, they're another mind warper and play actual metal instead of hard rock.
I saw Band-Maid live two years ago. Second best concert I've ever been to. And yes, I've been to more than two concerts. Also, if you want more all-female Japanese metal check out Nemophila, Lovebites, and Hanabie, just for starters.
Thanks for reacting to the greatest hard rock band in the world! There's several all female rock/metal bands in Japan (and other countries too). My favorite after the Maids is Nemophila.
Happy to see you guys discovering JRock, but you are only dipping your toes in at this point. There are many many more great groups like this to still discover(like Nemophila, Asterism, Koiai, Lovebites, etc). Also, Band-Maid probably falls into the category of a hard rock band(not metal), but if you listen to more of their stuff you will find that they incorporate so many parts(rock, metal, pop, funk, progressive, etc) into their songs. They are all super talented & I hope to see them in concert someday.
So Actually guys Band-Maid is technically a Progressive Hard Rock Band with influences of Metal, Power Pop, Jazz, Funk, Punk and a dash here and there of hip hop flow. And Actually Guys there is an entire movement of All Female Bands in Japan that are Phucking Up the World Music Scene ( in the best way possible I could easily rattle off more than a Dozen High Quality - won't outside of the cream of the Crop) Love Bites - Power Metal - Iron Maiden Style Hanabie - Harajuku Core "Pardon Me I Have to Go Now" and much more( growl Hehehe you'll get it. Nemophila - Indie Metal "Rise" Orian" "Dissention" If Foo Fighters has some more Balls and were Japanese chicks. Glim Spanky, 70's fusion Rock "Oceans of Time Live" and just about anything thing else. If you go down this path I'll help you later also male lead guitarist. Kaqriyoterror - "Forbidden Masturbating" and many more. Gachric Spin, Trident, Mary's Blood, Bridear, Hagahne, Broken by The Scream. Man on a Mission (dudes) , Silent Siren, Skandal, Ano, Last but Not Least the Best All Female band coming out of Mexico - RUDIO ROSA with some in your face Indie Rock. "Medio A Caer" And actually this was too easy, you brought this down upon yourselfs. LoL 🤣 Just Playin' fellas WELCOME TO BAND-MAID! They have a few hard songs but its more more Hard Rock so approach with that in mind to keep things in perspective.
Sugoi! As a pop/punk/rock/metal afficianado for 60 years, BAND-MAID is my favorite. I've seen them twice, and they are not to be missed. They have a deep catalogue of 100+ songs, and all are worth endless listens. More please! Arigatou! #Maidiac ##SurrenderLove ##ShareHappyLetsDance
Oh the All female Rock/Metal scene in japan is huge Aldious - Trident - Lovebites - Nemophilia - Mary's Blood - Doll$boxx - Hanabie - Unlucky Morpheus - Bridear - Fern Planet - East of Eden. Best Western All female Rock/Metal Band - The Warning.
Miku the rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist who started the band used to work in a Maid Cafe. One day she had an idea, what if she paired the heavy music she loved with the contrast of the cute Maid aesthetic. She found Kanami the lead guitarist online, Kanami used to play with the drummer Akane who recruited Misa the bassists who she knew from a previous band and they formed a group. Miku was their lead singer but realizing she lacked the power to do justice to the music the way she wanted too she selflessly had the label search for a new lead vocalist, Saki. Kanami writes most of the music and Miku is the primary lyricist, though everyone has input in their songs and their all allowed their own moment to shine live.
Band Maid is an amazing band. They also do soooo many different things. One of the best live-bands out there. They have funky songs like Manners, fantastic instrumentals like Onset, frenetic songs like Blackhole. Check out more. You Wil NOT be dissapointed 😁👍
Well ACTUALLY...you need to react to more Band-Maid.😆 Great reaction and breakdown. You guys got some of the things other reactors take a while to figure out. Miku Kobato (Rhythm Guitar, backing vocals, lead vocals, main lyricist and band founder), the one who "spun around" created the band with the juxtaposition image you talked about at the 5:17 mark, they refer to it as the GAP. You talked about rifts, at 16:00, you'll find Kanami (lead guitar and main composer) is a rift machine. Most songs have more rifts that other bands would kill for. Dive on in to the Maids...the pigeon-hole is deep and diverse. So now, you need a bit more..."Hate?" OLV from Yokohama Arena or "From Now On" OMV are a perfect next steps, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Then there is "Daydreaming" OMV which shows off their rock ballad side. As for seeing them live...the energy is through the roof. If you have the opportunity, you must go and see them. You will not regret it. You will be jumping, clapping and singing along and leaving the Okyu-ji (what the call their live concerts, which translate to "Servings") feeling so hyped and happy. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
And a thing about the maid outfits, Mike & Joe: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!
BAND-MAID consider themselves to be Hard Rock. But they have many influences, Metal among them. If you want a BAND-MAID Metal song try 'Different' or 'Renne'. But they do it all, even soft acoustic ballads. They do a lot of Power Pop & Pop Punk for their Anime Theme Song commissions. They even appear in anime form on the Music Video for, 'Unleash'.Check out their new collaboration with The Warning, 'Show Them'. And yes, we all loved The Tiny Hat, It has since been retired. R.I.P. Tiny Hat. Back then in addition to the chandeliers, they hung the screen up and down like windows.
Band-Maid's core is hard rock, but you'll get ballad, thrash, prog, slow & reflective, funky, jazzy -- really just about anything. And they do it all well. Their lead guitarist is a genius composer and arranger, and the rest are top-shelf instrumentalists/vocalists. Hate live at Yokohama or Domination live at Shibuya would be good next songs.
🤘🏽 Band Maid! 🔥 Five little Japanese maids, influences from KISS, elements of RUSH, and a dash of Power Rangers Underestimate them at your peril. “From Now On,” official music video
Band Maid and Love Bites are the two Japanese bands I listen to. Akane the drummer was complimented by one of Led Zeppelin guys recently. Give Love Bites a go.
welcome to BAND MAID, a at heart fusion of Hard rock with so many influences, that will always bring good vibes, great energy and a dope ass track. Love them since i found em a few years back, listened trough all their albuns and singles, EPs and my pleasure to listen or watch them has not vained a bit. Good musicians, lovely poeple, much talent and harsh dedication made a band that brings hard rocking joy.
Talent, energy, happiness,... this is Band Maid ! If you want to see how serious the bassist is, I suggest you "hate?" live official video. If you want how the drummer can smile, I suggest you "Freedom" live official video. But this band have more than 100 songs very interesting to listen. For me, they are the best hardrock band of this moment. Also check their collaboration with the another geat band The Warning with the video "Show Them".
Awesome reaction👍 But first and foremost, BabyMetal is not a rock band, they are an "idol group" backed by a bunch of the most finest Japanese musical mercenaries available.😕 Also if you think Band-Maid is the only female rock/metal band in Japan... well, check this out... screams, growls and smiles included:😆 NEMOPHILA, "Oiran" LIVE: ruclips.net/video/5qABnfChpbk/видео.htmlsi=eu5AmocyN7Na5T8D DOLL$BOXX, "Shout Down" LIVE: ruclips.net/video/SpI4ZI71oXY/видео.htmlsi=496j29NV9Kd9dEBi TELECIDE, "PG-16" MV: ruclips.net/video/keq-7ZCluFc/видео.htmlsi=MJZc9FC38hT8Hpl6 BRIDEAER, "Brave New World" MV: ruclips.net/video/_6-OXcyMkYI/видео.htmlsi=_MLIfvb4lLYHUDf5 LOVEBITES, "Holly War" LIVE: ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.htmlsi=HU-svqy8ARCu2sXB
There are soooooo many all-girl rock bands coming from Japan. Babymetal is explicitly an idol group, heavy as the music is. But when it comes to bands, not only is there Band-Maid, check out Nemophila, Hanabie, and Lovebites for the heavy stuff. Gacharic Spin is more funky. And then there’s tons of punk, like Otoboke Beaver. And indie pop like Chai
Hey Madiacs!!! We have two on the hook here! Let's see if we can get them past the barb........Lol! These girls do aronud 24 songs a show and sometimes more...they are badass for sure....and their intermissions (Omajenai Time aka Magic Spell Time) Check out "From Now On" official music video and "HATE?" official LIVE. That'll show you guys their true talents. "Freedome LIVE if you like a smiling drummer. Don't try to put Band-Maid into a genre, they do it all and many times several genres in one song. After ten together with the same members they just get better..... Enjoy your new band, the pigeon hole is deep.
Hello guys. Glad you liked it. Band-Maid must currently be the most internationally known Japanese female rock band after Babymetal. It is not only a metal band but mixes other genres of rock. Speaking of American female rock bands, do you know The Warning? Although it is a Mexican band. Maybe you can check out Show Them? A song that brings together Band-Maid and The Warning. THANKS
Oh boy you're in for a treat because there are so many all female rock and metal bands in Japan. That whole scene is female dominated. Bands like Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie, and Trident. They all have big fan bases and all sound different. If you want growls though start with Nemophila and their song Zen or Revive, plus with all Japanese bands live is the way to go.
ACTUALLY, Maidiacs love when someone discover B-M for the first time and love to introduce them! Then again, most Maidiacs are not 14 years old. The more typical Madidiac is an older man that that used to be (or still are) a musician and fanboying for the first time in their life.
Miku (red rose) whose idea it was to have Maid cafe uniforms and put the band together. Wanted the sound to and the look to be a shock for new audiences. They call it the Gap. Miku does her cafe type call and response during concerts. There is a lovely video of her going into the audience of big burly rock fans all of whom are so protective of the little singer. Lots of great bands, many female growlers in Japan. But Band Maid remain a favourite for their music and on stage presence.
BM4_Life! I work with that guy in the requesting department! 🍺😁🤘🏻🕊️
The best live rock band on the planet...maybe ever,
There are at least a dozen top tier all female Japanese hard rock/heavy metal bands, and they are all bad ass. You have just scratched the surface, Po!
You would not believe how good they are now. Or how diverse. They are the best!
Well said !😃👍👍👍👍👍
I'm a metal head. I love a growling vocalist. But I also love Band-Maid. Saw them live twice last year on their US tour. And I agree with the smiles. I used to think there was no place for smiling in rock and metal performances. Then I discovered Japanese music.
Especially, Akane‼︎😃😆😄😋😁
Band Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Aldious, and a whole lot of Japanese all-female bands are bringing the fun back into rock n' roll.
BAND MAID is:
Miku Kobato (小鳩 ミク) - rhythm guitar, vocals, PR (Band founder, lyricist ... our flappy pigeon, po!)
Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess)
Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla)
MISA MISA MISA - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor and performs without shoes on stage - the barefoot assassin)
Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination - The Queen)
🐦 *Mike and Joe* 🐦
Welcome to the world of *BAND-MAID* (2013 - Present) A group of 5 young ladies from Japan that will rock your world:

*Saiki Atsumi* (Sai-Chan) = Lead Vocals / Piano
*Kanami Tono* (Kanamincho) = Lead Guitarist
*Akane Hirose* (A-Chan) = Drummer
*MISA* (MISA, MISA, MISA) = Bassist
If you wish to continue down this Pigeon Hole 😊 you will enjoy over 100+ great songs you will start saying to yourself “This is my favorite *BAND-MAID* song”. _(No joke Po!)_
Below is a list of songs that will get you started
Choose me (Official Music Video)
DICE (Official Music Video)
Blooming (Official Music Video)
HATE? (Official Live Video)
YOLO (Official Music Video)
I discovered *BAND-MAID* in 2019 and came to a realization that *BAND-MAID* more then just a rock band they are a band that does not have any boundaries and is willing experiment into different genre from (Blues, Rock, Punk and Jazz) and a lot of fans including me would say “you got to check out their live videos” from:
2017-STUDIO COAST
2018-Zepp Tokyo
2020-LINE CUBE SHIBUYA
2021-BAND-MAID ONLINE ACOUSTIC
In the end I realize that *BAND-MAID* more then just a band but a band that cares about each other and their fan base and in October of 2022 I had a fortune of experiencing them live and with that *BAND-MAID* cemented their Legacy into my heart. Rock On! 🤘
*100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back…*
Thanks for spreading the word.
Cheers Vambot.😁👍
Welcome to Band Maid. ❤
These ladies are masters at their instruments: Kanami (composer and lead guitar), Akane (drums) and Misa (bass). Then there is lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound and Miku Kobato (rythm guitar, pure energy, most lyrics, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies).
I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. My favourite is currently "Corallium", but here is just a quite random selection of songs:
For some very special LIVE videos try "Freedom", "Corallium" and "Play".
Especially their earlier works are pop punkish
Have fun...
You should check out the live version of Hate? it's where the bass player (Misa) and lead guitar player (Kanami) both go off.
That discontinuity you’re having is what the Maids call “the gap”. What you see is soooooo different from what you hear. It’s just fun.
It recedes pretty quick. *Of course* the Avengers are wearing superhero costumes!
Welcome to the Band Maid world, the best hard rock band in the world!!! Thanks for your reaction
Welcome to the world of Band Maid. More than 120 songs to enjoy going from Classic to the anime punk rock.
Let’s not forget the heaviest metal Japanese band. LOVEBITES!
@@dharmachile999 Yes, Band-Maid and Lovebites are mutual fans. Lovebites had tickets for the Yokohama Okyu-ji
Well ackshully.....I'm glad you guys enjoyed Band-Maid
Hi Weekly Top 5,
welcome to the world of Band-Maid.
Hope to see more Band-Maid here in the future !
3:40 - "But apparently there's space for TWO all girl heavy metal bands from Japan."
You have *no* _idea_ how many insanely talented, all female bands there really are in Japan.
'Take My Chance', 'Shout Down', 'Monopoly'
Sokoninaru - They play, uh... _super_ technical everything. you'll just have to watch the video. 'Tenohira De Odoru'
Maximum the Hormone - Metal, plus fifteen other genres. Sometimes in the same song. 'Yoshu Fukushu' is a good place to start.
Asterism - Prog metal 3-piece instrumental band. Hal-Ca's guitar skill will explode your brain, 'Gunfire' live session, 'Church' live session. 'Dawn' live
LOVEBITES - Power/thrash metal. 'Holy War' live, 'Thunder Vengeance' live, 'Stand and Deliver (Shoot'em Down)' music video
Gacharic Spin - Rock, electronic, funk, pop, metal. 'Mindset' mv, 'I Wish I' mv, 'Redline' live.
Trident - Rock, metal, pop. Another killer 3-piece band. 'Spoopy' mv, 'Ambivalent' live, 'Continue' mv, 'Cry Out' mv
Plenty more bands if you finish this list.
Funny seeing The Warning put on a list for japanese rock and metal bands, but I´m ok with it 😉
Band-Maid is considered one of the best hard rock bands in the world !
Thanks for the great reaction and remember:
Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID!!
They have so much fun playing together...the drummer has the biggest grin ever even during drum solos!
Oh, and the Warning too! Three Mexican sisters, Po! ⚡
🕊️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 Welcome to the Pigeonhole, Po!
Lore dump incomming:
There is band lore 3/4 layers deep on "why did the singer (Saiki) hug bass player (MISA)?"...
1. they all have great chemistry and are very good friends outisde the "job", and oftentimes they make faces at each other during concerts in hope other person would missplay her part.
2. MISA (basist) plays barefoot live almost always - "so she can better feel drumkit through the stage" as she explains in interviews
3. Saiki (singer) took of her high heel shoes in previous song and wen't to stand on rail and sing literaly in the female section of the crowd
4. Saiki was also barefoot for most of this songs duration(she puts on her shoes during solo), which MISA noticed and was all like "look you're barefoot just as me"
and there's the full lore behind the hug :D
I thought Saiki lost her shoe when she fell into the crowd.
Only two??? Lovebites - East of Eden - Gacharic Spin - Nemophila - Hanabie - Just to name a few - Go for it and Enjoy!!!
Punk you say? Four ladies from Kyoto bring it hard. Otoboke Beaver "Don't Light My Fire"
Welcome to *Band Maid!*
Good job fellas. Damn those f'n gatekeepers. Smiles everyone!
But prepare for some crazy sh.*** All titles are in Japanese so trust the YT search result 😅😂
Band Maid is just my(!) taste because I am not so into growls and screams. And I like their intelligent and interesting compositions!
SAISEIGA - Ride on , Jumble .
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
You want screams? Nemophila and Hanabie. Start with Dissension or Ame-te-ras for Nemo, We Love Sweets for Hanabie.
I second the motion.
I'm sure hardcore dude on the left would dig Nemophila.
@@chrisbergsten1429he would but Hanabie has closer to a hardcore element musically and with Yukina’s growls. No shade on Nemo I fucking love that band.
Akane is known for being the happiest drummer. Check out their song Freedom- live of course.
That feeling you get with the sweet look and the hard sound is by design.....it's called the GAP in Japan. This band has been together for
10 plus years and over 140 original songs. They have toured in the US severall times and sell out every venue. This is the second most
popular female band in Japan behind Baby Metal. But this is a real band and the musicianship is second to none. This is the best current
rock band on the planet !!!!!!!!
Welcome to Band Maid! The best Rock band on the planet. They’re excellent and you should check more of them out. Hate? Live, Warning, Shambles… they’re all great.
If you want more hardcore stuff, Hanabie “we love sweets”
Or since you mentioned Baby Metal, they did a song with Electric Callboy “Ratatatata” I guarantee you will smile during that one.
(from their own Anime MV (series?)): ruclips.net/video/7LB_EPS48HE/видео.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts:

ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ruclips.net/video/nAdWnIRjGak/видео.html

Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD.
And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. Here’s two of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at an intimate venue:
Shot by Pat McKee from their 2023 US tour concert in Detroit: ruclips.net/video/DgxU-MVjta0/видео.html

If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, live streams, CD, DVD/BD & merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids, and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!
Welcome to the fandom! ♥ these girls! I suggest these Band Maid songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
one of the top touring rock bands in the business today, all 5 are top tier musicians, probably why they have been together for 10+ years with the same line-up, none of that rock star crap about one member carrying the band
More more and more BAND-MAID! 🎉
*Joe and Mike* maybe you can have *BAND-MAID* make a cameo appearance on your next movie project 😉 as they did a cameo on the Netflix movie *Kate* 😊
Thanks for reacting to the greatest hard rock band in the world! There's several all female rock/metal bands in Japan (and other countries too). My favorite after the Maids is Nemophila.
Great reaction! I really enjoyed your take on this awesome band. Band-Maid is fantastic in every way, hope you check out more.
Definitely check out more band maid they are awesome!
Thanks guys, for checking out Band-Maid. Had a blast
And Actually Guys there is an entire movement of All Female Bands in Japan that are Phucking Up the World Music Scene ( in the best way possible I could easily rattle off more than a Dozen High Quality - won't outside of the cream of the Crop)
Love Bites - Power Metal - Iron Maiden Style
Hanabie - Harajuku Core "Pardon Me I Have to Go Now" and much more( growl Hehehe you'll get it.
Man on a Mission (dudes) , Silent Siren, Skandal, Ano,
Last but Not Least the Best All Female band coming out of Mexico - RUDIO ROSA with some in your face Indie Rock. "Medio A Caer"
And actually this was too easy, you brought this down upon yourselfs. LoL 🤣
Just Playin' fellas WELCOME TO BAND-MAID! They have a few hard songs but its more more Hard Rock so approach with that in mind to keep things in perspective.
The unsuspecting rabbit hole
Oh the All female Rock/Metal scene in japan is huge
Aldious - Trident - Lovebites - Nemophilia - Mary's Blood - Doll$boxx - Hanabie - Unlucky Morpheus - Bridear - Fern Planet - East of Eden.
Best Western All female Rock/Metal Band - The Warning.
They actually should do an MV where at some point a crew member runs out to spray water on Akane's kick pedals 😊
They are rock and roll guardian angels and the best hard rock band on this planet🤘Keep an eye on them!!
PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Can you believe that this was almost 6 years ago and they're going harder than ever? 9th album out next month.
Nemophila, Hanabie, Lovebites . The list goes on. Japan is blowing western music away. Dig deeper
🤘🏽 Band Maid! 🔥
Five little Japanese maids, influences from KISS, elements of RUSH, and a dash of Power Rangers
Underestimate them at your peril. “From Now On,” official music video
Band Maid and Love Bites are the two Japanese bands I listen to. Akane the drummer was complimented by one of Led Zeppelin guys recently. Give Love Bites a go.
The Maid Uniforms are in the style of the very popular traditional Japanese Maid Cafe Uniforms in Japan.
welcome to BAND MAID, a at heart fusion of Hard rock with so many influences, that will always bring good vibes, great energy and a dope ass track.
Nemophila, hanabie, and band maid, lovebites, and so on. There is so many top tier bands in japan.
You will become a fan of Misa(the Bassist) She is called the barefoot Assasin! and you will recognise why!
Awesome reaction👍
But first and foremost, BabyMetal is not a rock band, they are an "idol group" backed by a bunch of the most finest Japanese musical mercenaries available.😕
Also if you think Band-Maid is the only female rock/metal band in Japan... well, check this out... screams, growls and smiles included:😆

Another band I think you might like is called Nemophila. The latest release is called G.O.D.
RIP Tiny Hat
There are soooooo many all-girl rock bands coming from Japan. Babymetal is explicitly an idol group, heavy as the music is. But when it comes to bands, not only is there Band-Maid, check out Nemophila, Hanabie, and Lovebites for the heavy stuff. Gacharic Spin is more funky. And then there’s tons of punk, like Otoboke Beaver. And indie pop like Chai
Fun reaction.... now do Band-Maid's HATE( live)
Spot on with the gate keeping discussion
Welcome to BAND-MAID!
Their genre is BAND-MAID.
How about HATE? is the next song?
I hope you`ll enjoy it!
Band-Maid kills it! You will get a lot of video suggestions - pick something, you can't miss!
THANKS
Breakdown is insanely good
Don't mind me, I'm just bummed I missed seeing Band Maid at Lallapaloosa last year in Chicago...
The Cult of Tiny Hat Welcomes you to the Pidgeonhole!!!! Recomend "HATE?" as the next song.
Welcome to Progressive Hard rock maid band .
Check out 'Hanabie'; We Love Sweets or 'Nemophila'; Rise
Japan scene?
You need Maximum The Hormone in your life
Heavy hard core death growls? The band Saiseiga. Check out "Jumble" or "Ride On" live.
