The pentel energel is also good, it doesn’t smear with the zebra mild liner on cheap paper, also jetpens I have a question why does the ergonomic uni jet steam pen only come in 0.5
Definitely Zebra Sarasa Mark On is my favorite one! it has smooth ink as the sarasa clip but also doesn't smear under hightliter! I mean, I really can highlighting immediately after writing. Perfect for note taking and color coding ^^
When mentioning the dry time for fountain pens, it’s always good to mention blotting paper. I’m always surprised by how many fountain pen users aren’t aware of it. A sheet of blotting paper stuck into each notebook is a must for fountain pen fans.
@@dizzylbnt It is reusable. I’m sure there is a point at which you’ll want to replace it, but I’ve filled at least a couple of notebooks with a single sheet. Though I suppose your pen, ink, & paper could have a big impact on that. We bought a single pack when we got into fountain pens a few years back, and we haven’t used it up yet.
@@RobertFisher1969 thanks so much for teaching me! Appreciate it! I recently started using a fountain pen that I received as a gift so I'm still learning a lot, but I'll definitely be getting my hands on some blotting paper soon :D
@@dizzylbnt Glad to help. Other things to look into to mitigate drying time are different inks (many ink reviewers will do a dry-time test), different pens, & finer nibs. Although using a non-fountain pen when you need fast drying & saving the fountain pens for when you don’t is also an option. In any case, you’ll have a fun journey finding out what works for you.
I actually prefer the pilot frixion range over any of these guys, the finer sizes might be scratchier than preferred, but the range of colors is great for color coding and the erasability is essential for me. Although now I take notes digitally to save my back....😅
Pilot Precise V5 has been one of my favorites for so many years. Wish refills would be available for all the colors. Really like Sarasa also but of course looking forward to trying the others you mentioned.
Great video! I personally favor the Kaweko Perkeo fountain pen with Forest Green Noodler's Ink. It takes a little longer to dry, but so far it's been a source of anti-skipping salvation as I speed-cursive along at mach 9.
My biggest gripe about a lot of pens is how low capacity some of the refills are. As much as I love zebra pens, their refills have about 1/3 the ink of some other pen refills. Pilot and pentel seem to have decent sized refills.
Hello! I was wondering if you guys were able to make a video about the best pens/highlighter combos that work with the Kokuyo Campus Loose Paper? I am currently using the uni-ball AIR micro and mark+ two tone color marker (per your guy's recommendation) and I love it! Was just curious if there were more combos out there. Thanks for the video :D
Preppy Pens: Pros- Cheap, pretty ink color choices, sturdy, nice ink flow on toothy paper. Cons- the ink likes to skip on some nicer paper notebooks like Maruman Mnemosyne notebooks (my favorite).
The v5 hold a special place in my heart. When u was growing up my dad worked at a factory and used them the wright with because it could Wright on things that might have got oil on it. He always had then on him and laying around the house.
Thank you! I have been taking notes more neatly! I also use the “ballpoint uni pen”! But my uni ballpoint pen was very old, so it came scratchy. But I do recommend uni ballpoint pen! Thank you so much every second!
Great video! Though I was expecting the Pentel Energel to come up! >< To me, it has been one of the best pens for note taking! It wont smear with highlighters, very vibrant colors and super comfortable in the hand!
Virtually any well tuned fountain pen with a well behaved ink like Noodlers Black or J. Herbin Lie de The. A good roller ball requires little force to get it to write, but a well tuned fountain pen barely touches the paper. Does wonders for repetitive motion issues related to hand writing.
For me I the best I use for note taking is Pilot Precise V5 Pens, I found it very smooth and helpful. Can you make a video about the best pens, tools and pencil we can use for architecture and interior hand sketching.
It wouldn’t be jetpens if there wasn’t a mention for Jetstream. But recently I found some of the Jetstream Pens ink fades and becomes lighter and lighter long before the ink runs out. Did I buy a defective pack or is this a common problem? And how could I fix this?
I was very interested in the Pilot Acroball Spotliter 3 Color Ballpoint Multi Pen + Highlighter but when I checked the store page I found that they weren't there. I guess I'll buy it somewhere else
I just got a few Uniball One F and Uniball One P Gel Pens from Jet Pens and I am having some trouble with skipping and scratchy writing. I have tried them in my Hobonichi Cousin (tomoe river paper) and Kokuyo Campus notebook. I was really looking forward to these pens being my go to writing implements. Could anyone offer any pointers on what paper works best for them or tricks to get them to write more consistently? Or is this brand just not as good as originally reported by Jet Pens? Thanks for your help!
sorry if I sound dumb but what's the difference between Sarasa Dry and Sarasa Markon? I know that Dry is for fast drying and Markon is for highlighting, but if the Dry is fast drying, would it not gonna smear when highlight too? they are both gel-pens, water-based, so dry means no smear... right?
I think the ink types are specific to highlighting with the mark on pen as they dry instantaneously whereas the sarasa dry still has slightly wetter ink when u first put it on the paper however most people won't really notice the difference so they are technically the same. hope that helps! :)
What about black fountain pen ink that can be highlighted after it dries? I have tried a ton and they all smeared. I’m beginning to wonder if there is even such a thing.
We recommend checking out waterproof fountain pen inks or using gel/dry highlighters! We have a guide to them: www.jetpens.com/blog/The-Best-Waterproof-Fountain-Pen-Inks/pt/829
I would really like to hear from any left-handers who use fountain pens. They don't work well for me and not just because of the smearing; I think it's because I'm pushing the nib around more than dragging, since I'm left handed. Is that a normal issue for us, or is it me?
Hi there! You might find our blog (written by one of our left-handed staff members!) helpful: www.jetpens.com/blog/Can-Left-Handed-Writers-Use-Fountain-Pens/pt/224

I've found the Uni Jetstream is the best for Tomoe River. The Sarasa MarkON is also good. Both dry quickly, don't smear, and stand up to highlighting on the TR paper.
Ngl, that sarasa leftie-friendly pen is lookin real good right now…. I don’t know if I could give up the V5 though. I got one by chance from a local store a few years ago and it became an instant favorite for the super thick and juicy, almost marker like ink.
What pens do you use for note-taking? Let us know in the comments! See more of our recs here: to.jetpens.com/3jMu020
i use gel pens 😁
I enjoyed the fountain pens with the number of colour and size options, but I know they were all beautiful as I’m a sucker for any stationery items.
I use Pentel Energel 0.7 they are the best
Flair ball point pens
I use the Papermate Inkjoy Gel 0.7
ah yes, more pens I definitely wouldn't use that much
Relatable
Hehe....
The pentel energel is also good, it doesn’t smear with the zebra mild liner on cheap paper, also jetpens I have a question why does the ergonomic uni jet steam pen only come in 0.5
They come in 0.3, 0.5,& 0.7 and you can always just add the refill in the tip size you prefer.
I use the pentel energel too, it's flow is so nice to write with.
Seriously love my Energel pens! They are such a delight to write with.
@@gabrielluciano6429 no i mean the ones with the squishy grip those only come in 0.7 while the others come in more

As a leftie, I adore the Pentel Energel because it dries super fast and it doesn't smear with a lot of highlighters. No blue or black side!

You’re right about the pilot precise pen. Ever since I’ve got my first it’s been in my everyday carry
I really like the pentel energel x, especially the 0.4. It's really smooth and works well with cursive.
Really want these pens :(
The Uni-ball One is one of my favourite non-FP pens! And the "my brain!" doodle is a MOOD.

Here’s a suggestion,
Why not just use a Pilot or Pentel Energel refill in the Zebra Sarasa pen.

The Sarasa Dry dries quickly, but isn't necessarily resistant to highlighters. The Mark On is built specifically for use with highlighters.
Should I write smaller or bigger

Hi! I was wondering which among these bleeds the least? Especially among thinner papers. Is Sarasa or Energel better?
Hi there! Both pens tend not to bleed, but you might like the Zebra Sarasa more. If you use a finer tip size as well, the ink should not bleed at all.
I like to write in small and bold writing. Depends on mood...lol
