I live in Bolivar, TN. I remember driving right by Adventure River on I-40 coming into Memphis to visit my Aunt and Uncle who used to live in the Highland Heights area on Hazelwood Avenue. I still remember the house number 3614 Hazelwood Ave. I loved the Memphis of the 70s 80s 90s through late 2001. Everything from that era is gone. Memphis is just a rotting shell of what it once was. All my favorite music stores gone! Sound Warehouse, Blockbuster/Wherehouse Music, Borders Books and Music, River Records, Memphis Records and Comics, Nostalgia World, Tower Records at Peabody Place....

My first job was at Adventure River. I think the place went broke because of the season passes. Before the job, we practically paid off the season pass within 2 weeks. We are there everyday until they closed for the season. After I worked there in 87, I never went back. I here they went broke and could not afford even the insurance to keep it open.

They always made sure you knew what channel you were watching.
I remember channel 24 when it was just WPTY. I loved watching Ultraman ever day. Voltron Force, Tranzor Z....Solid Gold, Sha Na Na...they showed some awesome vintage horror movies on the regular. Loved the old WPTY. We had to buy a special UHF antenna that was shaped like an over-sized arrow to pick up the channel. Also, there was channel 30. I can't remember it's initial call letters. I think it was WMKW 30.
Do you remember when Memphis had a wonderful easy listening instrumental station 24/7 called WEZI? It was on 105.9 until they sold out to KIX 106. They went to a low-power station in Germantown 94.3 FM and changed format to soft pop like WRVR of that era. I miss WEZI in its original format.
Wonderful memories! I grew up around Memphis in the 90's, what a great time! Thanks for sharing with us!

@kendallbledsoe6548 I agree. Pizza Hut used to have the best pizza in the world and don't forget that salad bar. I miss the old Pizza Hut 😢😢😢. They not the same as they used to be. They must have changed their recipe or the flavor of the toppings on their pizzas

23:46 - Truck & Van Accessories... 360-8065! I grew up in Memphis around this time, and we also had a number that started with "360." I remember my dad used to complain about the number of WRONG number calls we'd get with people asking about automotive repairs. I can't help but wonder if this was the place. This was in the days before caller ID, so you'd pick up no matter what.
I won't reveal what my old number was, but it was off a few digits. I have NO idea who has my family's old number in the 901 area code now, and I'd imagine they'd rather not be harassed. "Hur hur! Are you Kris Starring from RUclips?" LOL, as if.

What Alpha said but also voter apathy. Memphis/Shelby Co is on death's door step. It's really sad.
