Great playing and great video, I loved the sound of the chords when you were testing the different heads function. It’s a pleasure watching your content, best wishes from the uk.
I really like your subtle, quieter demo settings and playing. That's how I mostly use it. Many, if not most other demos I've watched, of the Galaxy lean towards loud/dramatic/flashy? I have been headed towards a Starlight, but just shifted direction to the Galaxy from this demo. Thanks. Subscribed.
Thanks a lot, Rick! The Starlight is magical too. For some reason though the Galaxy is my Nr1 choice. I’d probably that lush reverb on board, you can see this one up from flashy to super sweet and subtle. Cheers!
I really want someone to do a comparison video with the Boss RE-202 and the UAFX Galaxy. Im not looking for "which one is better or more accurate" but just simply how they sound, their limitations and feature set. Both seem like great options for getting into the Space Echo arena.
Look up Raccoon Point Studios. A comparison is up on that channel. I own both pedals and he did a great job showing the differences. I think they’re both awesome, but pretty different.
I just bought one today, just amazed by the sounds. I also appreciate the easy of use. I own a Volante which I absolutely love but sometimes I hate that if I make a preset I kind of forget what I did after a few months 😂😂 so this is much easier to use (I don't use midi) and sounds just as good if not better
The guitar is glorious indeed. It’s a Baum Wingman and there is more to come with it. 🙌 And yeah, I waited 4 years until someone spotted the amp knobs on the sideboard. 😆 Actually those are pots installed and you can turn them. Haha!
@@KrisBarocsi Pots ??? OMG you have taken it to the next level !! The wingman seems nice and is not too expensive. Are they made overseas ? In this price range it would be incredible if they were made in Denmark.
Wooooah! This thing is killer! Didn‘t go for the Starlight, since I have a DMM and it doesn‘t really get that close. But I did get the Golden Reverberator, and this Space thing is also gotta get some space (!) on my board.
Yeah man, the Golden and this one is a killer combo. And the good thing is, if you want a smaller rig, just take the Galaxy and use its reverb. Done. 👌
@@KrisBarocsi Yes, thanks: brilliant idea with just using the reverb on the Galaxy if needed. The new UAFX Del also looks like a killer option for multifunctional use (delay + reverb).
Thanks for the review, the pedal sounds awesome! I'm a bit disappointed: doesn't the pedal have a recreation of the RE-201's preamp? A lot of people would really like it to be there. The colour it gives to the sound is as legendary as the echo delay itself.
I bought mine yesterday but all it did it was the three lights of the heads turning red and lighting alternately. Do you think it could be the power supply ? It's 9v 300 ma
Thanks! I can’t tell, honestly. Both are incredible and have different strengths. The Galaxy does the Space Echo like nothing else. Big plus is the onboard reverb. The D1 does a killer tape delay too but it’s awesome for digital, lo-fi and other delays too.
Kris, have you tried the new Strymon Flint V2? Between the UA Galaxy and Flint V2 which would you pick? Unfortunately I cannot try them myself and will end up buying one of those two based purely on YT videos.
Hey, both are amazing pedals but also, they are very different. Flint: verb and tremolo. Galaxy: delay and spring reverb. I’d choose depending on which two effects I needed more, especially being combined in one pedal. If the most important is a great and versatile reverb, go for the Flint. If you don’t care for the tremolo in the Flint, go for the UAFX Delverb (has amazing and versatile delays and reverbs). If you dig the lush delay of the Galaxy, then go for that. I hope that helps a bit. Cheers
@@KrisBarocsi If we toss the El Capstan v2? I like more subtle echo and a bit of reverb. Maybe the Galaxy is best for me. From your video I definitely love the sounds of the Galaxy and I do not like to fiddle much with many options.
@@KrisBarocsi It sounds very much like my UAD plugin. Hast Du auch das "Max" ausprobiert? Ich habe mir gerade Video mit Tim Pierce angechaut, und ich denke das man damit sehr gut den Clapton / Knopfler-Sound hinbekommt

That’s cool man. For me it’s more like: Midi… don’t care. 😆 Never liked it, never will. But it’s cool that everyone goes in a different direction with this. 🙌
Same.... It could sound like the heavens just opened up, but if I can't take to a festival gig, or any gig for that matter, put my pedalboard down, and get down to business in a predictable manner (ie. Presets), it's not worth my time. Because, I'll be working dialing in settings at a gig, when I should be focused on playing music. At this price point, this pedal should be working for me. Not the other way around!
More Strymon Garbage nothing unique here extreamly boring pedal. Hey Strymon why don't you spend your time creating new sounds instead of making sub standard recreations of old gear,.

Awesome demo Kris. I like the bare bones, hands on pedal types too

I need to see this head to head (pun intended) against the Boss Re-202
would be interesting to compare it side by side with the RE202... awesome video btw as usual
Sounds like a good idea. I’ll do it if I can.
Can you pan the heads like on the Volante? Or is only the reverb stereo?
This pink sparkly guitar is gorgeous !!! Is there a test planned in the near future Kris ?

Hi, I’m pretty sure they wanted to make this „analog dry through“ (which this is) and that wouldn’t have been possible if they modeled the preamp too.
@@KrisBarocsi That a question of an additional toggle switch. It adds to the cost, of course, but it is not a cheap pedal anyway.

Hey, yes exactly. It needs more than 300mA. You’re safe with 400mA but more also works (my supply gives it 500 and it’s fine).

It seems that basis is their space echo plugin for UAD
According to Tore (UA product designer/specialist) they developed brand new designs for all of their UAFX pedals, this included.
