I just purchased a couple of 33" ones for lettuce and strawberries and stuff, now I'm inspired to purchase a couple of the 17' ones for tomatoes and cucumbers. The senior center I belong to has a greenhouse and is just getting into hydroponics. Having a winter garden will be a great way to save money.
I just came across your you tube channel. I subscribe right away, I’ve been looking for site that will walk you through growing tomatoes from seed to harvest indoors. I’ve been on your web site about your grow lights. Thanks so much for your site.
Hi Larry - we're so happy to hear that this information is useful to you. We have an update video in editing and will be publishing that shortly! Please let us know any questions that you have any time. Happy Growing!

I do have a question. You talk about about your nutrient water, what kind of nutrient water do you use. Every time you water, do you only use nutrient water? Or do you water some days and nutrient water other days?
Hi Larry - thanks for the question. We generally recommend Maxigro for the beginning stages and Maxibloom for the flowering stage. A teaspoon per gallon of water each time you water is pretty economical. For this method, be sure to use a nutrient that is designed for hydroponic growing. Maxigro has been very reliable for us.
Do you use the hydroponic fertilizer when you water before you plant your tomatoes in the larger containers or do you not fertilize until they are transplanted?
I've never tried tomatoes but I've grown all sorts of greens and herbs with Happy Leaf LEDs with great success. They have the ideal light spectrum figured out so well, their lamps grow heartier, healthier and happier plans ...pun intended. #HappyLeafLED
Hi - Yes, absolutely :) If you found this series, (3 total), you have the info to grow delicious tomatoes all year round, indoors! Please let us know if you need any clarification.
I've been thinking about growing tomatoes in my tiny urban apartment, but had no idea where to start. So I was really thrilled when I found your very detailed videos - so helpful! One question: was the cage/stand from Bloem also? I didn't see it on their site. Thanks!
Hello Happy Bunny! Thanks for the question. It's great to hear you find the videos helpful. So the tomato cage in those videos is no longer available, that we know of. Many years ago we were able to purchase a large quantity and we did sell it for a while, but it became extremely expensive. A while ago it was sold on Amazon by the Clever Gardener but as of today, I don't see it. Here is an alternative tomato cage from Gardener's Supply that would likely serve the purpose well. Please let us know if you have any other questions. You might be interested in the book we recently published, titled "Grow Lettuce in Your Living Room - Feed your family from you indoor LED hydroponic garden." The book is available on Amazon, but there are several other "clickbait" titles that seem to have popped up that make it confusing, so if you purchase directly from our website, you'll get the real deal book. happyleafled.com/product/grow-lettuce-in-your-living-room/ www.amazon.com/Gardeners-Supply-Company-Titan-Tomato/dp/B083C3Z8RD/ref=sr_1_10?crid=DB57LAUFGBTJ&keywords=tomato+cage+round+clever+gardener&qid=1666021210&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjA0IiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=tomato+cage+round+clever+gardener%2Caps%2C99&sr=8-10
I have a rogue seedling that sprouted in a small indoor pot. It's Oct 2nd. What do I need to do to see it through to fruit-bearing? Grow light and special pot as you show, without killing it....thank you in advance
Hi Deb - assuming you are referring to a tomato seedling? Yes, give it a whirl with the same process outlined in the video. Let us know how it works out! Happy Growing!
Thank you for your videos, they are very informative. I have tried indoor tomatoes and usually can only make it half way through. I am going to your site for a light or 2 or possibly more, I would like 3 tomatoes. I have a few questions. Do the lights daisy chain together, and I can't find the buckets online, how much media do they hold. Lastly, does the coco coir vermiculite method have better results than just a hydroponic bucket? Just curious because I am going to mimic your method exactly. Awesome videos. Glad I subscribed
Hi Mike - so glad you are commenting and that you are inspired to try growing tomatoes indoors again. We are most successful using a self-watering pot such as the Bloem Luca 14" round self-watering pot with approximately 1.5 gallons of the coco coir/vermeculte mix. You may be interested in our recently published book, "Grow Lettuce in Your Living Room" as it gives very comprehensive instructions on how to grow tomatoes indoors along with other types of vegetables. The book is available on Amazon in print or digitally, as well as on our own website...www.happyleafled.com. One of our 17" lights is good for a small tomato plant, but you can set up different confirgurations based on your own designs with the 33" light as well. The 2.0 version does a great job, and the PRO works even better. If you look at the multi-light variation on our website you will see one larger power supply that can run up to 4 of our lights, so that is one way to create a "chain" but it's not a daisy chain in the traditional sense of the word. Our multi-light power supply is very robust and can be easily adapted with standard splitter extensions if the available cords are not long enough for your situation. As a rule, the multi-light power supply will easily set up 4 lights on a baker's rack. We'd be happy to have a phone conversation to help clarify any questions further. Hi there. I used dirt last year in my apartment and dirt compacts with every watering and i had to aerate the soil weekly. This year i'm gonna use a mixture of dirt, Coco Coir and Vermiculite, or maybe add some peat moss. I'm gonna start growing in October due to my apt being cooler and the temp in better range and then hopefully i'll get some tomatoes, cucumbers and peas in the winter here in western Canada.

We love to hear that! Feel free to send us any pictures if you are so inclined!
How'd it work out for you?
Excellent explanations and techniques 😊
Thank you!

I'm really glad to have found your channel. Is maxigro considered organic? Thanks kc
Thank you.
So was hoping to get grow from germination, what do you put seed in initially?
On this project, we started the seeds in the coco coir and vermiculite mix.

What's the spectrum and what type of led chips are they using

Happy Growing!
What size (diameter or capacity) is the large growing pot? 12 or 15-inch?
Those pots are 14" diameter :)
What's wrong with dirt?
Love dirt! But it’s easier to mitigate against bugs in the house with this method.
