The nationwide search for the next superstar kicked off in August as the Idol Bus traveled covering 23 cities across the country. Auditioning was made easier than ever as hopefuls also had the opportunity to submit audition videos online as well as via select social media platforms using an official tag The Next Idol cultivating over 300,000 posts. Also for the first time in “American Idol” history hopefuls had the opportunity to audition through a livestream platform.
Helping to determine who America will ultimately vote for to become the next singing sensation are music industry forces and superstar judges Luke Bryan Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Host and producer Ryan Seacrest will return as host of the beloved series.

The kid is a beast. The genius came through on so many levels here - voice, guitar, composition. Judges about lost it. Luke can't get over it. Neither can anyone watching this....No idol winner has ever come out with original songs and talent like that, Mind blowing.

I was so happy. I cried a bit. So proud Homie. His original blows away any song sung on that show. He did "Poison" instead of "10 Years". Now all the naysayers can see what we've known for a very long time. The folk who define him by his songs by other artists have no idea of the catalogue of this master.
You are SO right my friend. His arrangements are nothing short of artistic genius. He manipulates chords and harmonies and rhythms as easily as you and I breathe. He is not constrained by musical rules or norms. For him, EVERYTHING is outside the box. He WILL change American Music, I have no doubt. Just wait till he performs Dissonant Harmony or cuts loose on a keyboard with Romance/Blesser... YEEEEHAAAA. It's so not fair to the other contestants, but they are playing in a different game.

Luke was really moved, maybe because being a country artist he trully understand the skills required to master the guitar the way alejandro does it, he feels the connection between AA and his instrument, i think he cried thats way he turn away and covered his eyes, luke you are a real man with good feelings.
I don't listen to much country music, so didn't know who Luke was, but I've just fallen in love with his sweet sincerity. Lovely guy, and I actually like listening to his music (when I can break away from Scarypoolparty, lol).

I have played and rewinded this so many times just to try and understand how he is playing. It feels like a whole band is playing, I hear the guitar, the bass line, i hear something like keys, and a drum beat. Man, this guy is indeed a miracle.

I only saw his original audition and I thought he was amazing. Then I started watching The Voice with my brother. Stumbled across some of his Idol performances when looking for The Voice contestants. Just in time! I'll be voting my ass off for him this Sunday. This kid is special and rare.
His music is like an umbrella to ones tears , you know the gravity is bringing them down , you can still hear them feel them taste them but you are not completely alone , child you break the age gap. You can have all 3 generations flooded with emotions.! How is that possible you are not even 30!!!!!

I hate Idol/Voice.... I stumbled into this live changing channels and was floored. He's got the "it" that separates him from ALL the others. He's got the guitar and piano chops too. I hope he finishes 2nd so the Idol machine doesn't own him for the next 15 years or whatever. He is the real deal.

I know! I was amazed that she said that again. I mean, that girl makes some very serious money on that show, and people with those incomes have matching lifestyles that are expensive to maintain, so for her to put herself out there in that way kind of touches me. I know some people are saying it's just a strategy the producers have come up with to maintain viewers, but the way she reacts, I think it's real. Hope so, anyway. Doesn't matter, really. We love him and are going to make him win in any case!

He is very talented. The entire package. His voice in itself is not fantastic...but it is pleasing. His musical chops are inspiring (guitar and piano). The original songs are heartfelt and interesting. It is the combination that makes him so unique. And he is so young! The homey angle is getting overplayed, though.
