As an American I have only tried 3 Indian varieties, Kesar, Malika and Alphonso, the only 1 Alphonso I tried was over ripe, so did not really get a good sample, But I have had many Kesar, and a few Malika, both are excellent quality. we have Mango tree collectors in Florida and Caribbean, so I often get the opportunity to try different varieties.
@Food Lovers TV Indian Mangoes are imported from India, but some people in warmer climates like Florida, grow mango trees, Alphonso, does not do too well, I have read reports that Alphonso grown in Florida do not have the same quality as those grown in India. but Kesar and Malika do very well.
@M Nair That's cool, i always like to hear stories of "zone pushers" which mango from Mexico, did you plant? was it the yellow one "Ataulfo" ( aka Champagne or Honey ) . or one of the larger ones, usually Tommy Atkins or Keitt. ?
I've stayed in Konkan for about 6 years . Their mangoes are fantabulous . But my fav mango is Badami or banganpalli . I love it's flavour , sweet n sour taste .
Sir , i have watched your content .it made me so happy .Being a mango fruit lover i like to ask with you is that which mango do you like most ?? Because you have tasted some variety on that highway ?? This time watching from Kathmandu Nepal .🙏
Wow, what a lovely episode of Mangoes, My The Favourite fruit, I have never eaten anything apart from Hapus(Alphonso), Truly Jealous of you Kripal. You are rocking...
bit late to watch this episode but, my favourite. The only Mango I have been eating since childhood and which even take over is Haapus, is "Maankurad" from Goa and i am so fortunate to eat them free. Rate of Mankuard goes upto INR 1200 to INR2500 dozen. I usually get this for my friends in Blr and every year, i have more request pouring in, when they taste it.... My parents call me choosy, but, this is the only Mango i like to eat. May be, this year if crop is good enough, hope to have good season of Mangoes.
Kripal thank you for showcasing particularly yummy local produce that is less appreciated outside a fairl restricted locality. The PM's 1 district-1 product is in keeping with the type of work you espouse. If you add your voice to similar ventures, then adding value to agricultural work and rural incomes will find wider resonance amongst your devoted audience. Re: mangoes, there are the polyembryonic types mainly found in peninsular Bharat, while the monoembryonic types are more widespread north of the Vindhyas [ rough approximation]. Polyembryony is a type of reproduction that results in several embryos arising out of one fertilization which goes on to produce a baby carrying genes of both seed and pollen parents, along with a set of little babies carrying only the genetics of the mother plant. Hence, there is a significant opportunity to grow these types from seed and have them come true to type re: mother's qualities. IFAS, Florida has collected as fruiting trees an immense variety of polyembryonic types as well as created valuable checklists of varieties in their collection. Their experts also have visited Ratnagiri and studied the growing conditions of the Ratnagiri Hapus, soil types, etc. We are doink ok in India re: mango research, breeding, production practices, etc. but ok is not enough, is it? Your search is about excellence in effort and end result, e.g. the gobhi pakora gentleman of Mysuru, and the neer dosa + mackerel curry gentleman whose cooking you so appreciated! Humble surroundings, devoted to excellence, as perhaps is the case with the mangoes here. I should love to touch bases with you on Indian fruit and vegetable varieties, the zones where they are excellently grown, as well as encourage you to do a series on the rather useful breeding activities at the IIHR, namma Bengaluru. Several products deserve greater notoriety in the local area and beyond, especially their fragrant rose, SUKANYA, adapted to warm climates. Many more things, including Lablab purpureus strains bred by Byre Gowda but jealously kept a secret for reasons unknown. The daylength insensitive types are very valuable and the range of busy to climbing forms developed here and at TANU [Tamil Nadu, coimbatore], should prove very useful to urban gardeners. Hyacinth bean enjoys a festival all itself in Bengaluru, and advances in their breeding deserve wider recognition. We have so many types of fruit, vegetables and more secreted away from Indian citizens, locked up in the institutions of origins, for reasons not clear to most. You would be doing our motherland a fantastic favor if you could interest yourself in the most delicious fruits and vegetables available; perhaps the honored Bossji could find a lot of interest in such a venture. BTW, loved her recipes and tutorials; please showcase more such 'local' dishes. So many wonders to explore, so little time! Be well.
Hi kripal.. If you have any idea in near future to check on varieties of mangoes.. U can visit Srinivaspur..which is in like district. .this place is known for world famous mangoes...
Someday try Ratnagiri alphonso and devgad Alphonso from konkan belt of Maharashtra you will forget all other varieties of Mangoes..they are super delicious 😊😊
@@sunilhampannavar780I understand what you are saying..and not all of them are chemically ripened..it is better to buy from your local vendor who u can trust.

Kripal - suggestion to avoid plastics - being the food and produce connoisseur you are, please carry some resuable bags/buttis on your journeys - you will be a true friend of the planet earth. We don't need more plastic floating around - I am sure you will agree! Cheers bro!
My comment came out of sheer obsession I have for the Alphonsos as I have grown up eating them 😊.. and I do agree with u that each one is rich in it's own way..wish to try those mangoes someday..
Thanks bro.. local variety should be exposed for larger market..i am in us pay around 2400 rupees for 12 indian mangoes every week and would love to have these varieties exported
You have paid more than their worth. Actually I sold alphanzo for 19 rupees a kg straight from my garden and 30 for banginpalli. I felt it is better to start a stall than farming them really frustrated
I had eaten all Indian mangoes and rated taste wise. Not by their price. 1. Alphonso 👑 devgad variety better than Ratnagiri but small size. 2. Salem imam pasand mango Tamil nadu not so famous like others 3. Kesar 4. Himsagar and dassheri tied 5. Chausa 6. Langra, and Banganpalli tied. 7. Payari 8. Badami 9. Bombay Punjab 10. Totapuri.
Great when offered. Usually eaten cut. Pulping for eating is not preferred. Does'nt feel good to eat that way and looks odd as well since this is the cutting variety. Ratnagiri. Fireflies. Ettiquetticious.
Actually too much. Cost Flip side is very less price given to farmers ..iam victim of that ...we have own farm .. Banginapalli is just 12rs given to us...where is markets it's 100plus Malliga we sold at 23 per kg.. retail market price is 120plus....again all of these Mangoes are selling out side are artificially ripened
No sir ..they are selling genuine stuff. Nothing to worry about . I often travel through this route and very much familiar with the taste of all the mangoes featured in this video . Good work 👍👍
Sir u paid double of actual cost...he cheated u..never buy from these thugs on highway...the maximum price of malgova in Bangalore is 70rs kg..other varieties are around 40 to 50 RS per kg
@@akapbhan I have tried Imam Pasand. It was sweet, yes but doesnt come close to Alphonso. Btw.. the alphonso you get these days are mostly cheap knockoffs. I guess the genuine crop like devgad is exported.
For the kind of fruits that mangoes are, what you covered is something like miniature of miniature. So little that it does not do any justice to it. This video has tampered your own competency of making qualitative videos on food. It was better if you had not made this particular video. Do not make a video for the sake of it, just because you are missing out on the season. Reporting on mangoes require a lot of researched homework.
Anyone who claims to find any mango which is better than Alphonso falls in the below two category: 1. Has no means to have the top quality Alphonso. 2. Are in denial of the truth.
Anyone who says only Alphonso is only the best, haven't tasted any other varieties , racist due not accepting other openion claiming they are best of all, knows nothing about farming, never explored the world, I pray God for them to get a meaningful life
Disagree my dost... I like Visa2Explore also - lovely Hindi narrative but so many comments asking for English commentary since they are not able to understand.
