    What makes this scene so painful is that Queen Ramonda sounds more disappointed than mad. Like an angry mother who says "I can't even look at you" instead of "you're grounded"

    • @IzMyVideoz

      If it's "you're grounded", it would mean mother/Queen still wants you. And grounding you means to discipline you for your actions.
      But if "I can't even look at you", damn - the rejection hurts. It's like, "I'm done with you. Go get lost," which is exactly what happened in this scene.

      I have a theory: in What If, ramonda is shown not just as queen but as general of wakanda's armies including the dora milaje. What if ramonda was the leader of the dora milaje previous to becoming queen? Therefore, she would have trained all the new generations of doras including okoye. To the point that they would refer to her as "mother" to honour her as teacher and former leader.

    • @chriswess4799

      @@alexheisenberg8709 you might not be wrong with that theory. In Marvel’s What If?, Ramonda was Queen and Leader of the Dora Milaje and lead them to battle and she had a spear of her own. I saw a video a while ago about the Dora Milaje explaining previous Wakanda queens were former Dora Milaje warriors. The former kings chooses one of them as their bride because they’re strong and loyal to the throne. Idk if it’s true in the Marvel classics on Black Panther but it was a good analysis video.

      @Lee Brown I wouldn't say he was being a coward. Killmongers entire ethos was to deny tradition and change Wakanda completely from the inside. He only dealt with the right itself because of his vendetta against the son of the man who killed his father and it was the driving force to give him the keys to the kingdom. Once he has those, fuck tradition. He made that expressly clear when he had the heart shaped herb burnt.

      @Lee Brown Killmonger was no coward. He wanted to kill tradition. That was the point to his rule. Turn tradition on its head. He burned the heart shaped herb because he didn't want any other black Panthers after him, just the nation ruled by people rather than some chosen king. He wants to end Wakandas tradition of being secretive and heavily restrictive with their technology by arming non Wakandans and turning wakanda into an empire. Nothing about Killmonger was about honoring tradition therefore he isn't a coward by denying the challenge being continued as he already secured what he wanted, the throne.

    • @maliqueboyles7964
      @maliqueboyles7964 Год назад

      @@RazielTheUnborn the problem with killmonger's philosophy is that it is too problematic in the future. The rest of the world having vibranium is EXTREMELY dangerous for the simply fact that look at how the rest of the world is acting without it? Look at the history of the world that, in a time to INCREASE their dominance and power, they have made atomic bombs and nuclear warheads all to topple or cause mutual destruction. Wakanda should be secretive. Because they are right to keep it to themselves after spectating the world for all of its crimes in history when it came to technological advancements in warfare. Wakanda is one of the most powerful nations on the planet. If it wanted to, they could've ruled the earth a loooong time ago. But never did. Because it is not their way or their purpose. Just because they are technologically advanced doesn't mean they should share their knowledge or technology with the rest of the world. Because the rest of the world don't need saving or helping. Because of their lack of power, they tried to steal wakanda's vibranium. If wakanda wanted to, right then and there, war would've started with most of the world who would dare threaten them. Killmonger had ideas. But they were flawed. You give any random group of people power, then they will feel entitled to take that power from others simply because they can or should, for whatever (personal) reason. Wakanda has been divided amongst itself but it only stayed to themselves. But one thing they agree on is keeping the rest of the world out of their affairs and if they don't, then as we have seen, they will fight whatever enemy that tries to come between themselves. You definitely dont need any gangs or mafias or secret organisations carrying anything that wakanda has because then there would be so much chaos between gangs and governments. I mean, did you watch The Falcon and Winter Soldier? See how crazy people have gotten off of the super soldier serum? Too many people with too many different ideologies but with the same power. And look at everything they have done amongst themselves. I can't argue with you on the herbs or him taking the throne because once he had it, it was already his. But he knew he was outmatched and even he knew his plan for a different society was flawed. Wakanda were more or less warriors in a garden. It was peaceful. He would've became a warmonger had he been alive any longer, ruling.

    There's nothing I love more than when a serialized story carries over consequences from the previous one in some form. The burning of the heart shaped herb and Okoye siding with Killmonger both factored into this movie so amazingly. This scene especially really paints how much trust Okoye lost because of tht decision. So I LOVED that she basically went don't think I just forgot that, I eased up because you did the right thing in the end and we managed to stop him. But now with this ontop of it I'm done.

    Okoye was one of the Dora Milaje who survived the Snap after risking everything to stop Thanos; even made it right by serving alongside T'Challa when everyone was brought back 5 years later. To see her stripped of her rank was heartbreaking because it's almost like a breakup and she is forced to respect Ramonda's decision.
    And Ramonda, after having nearly lost everything, was tired from all that she lost especially after she warned Okoye about taking Shuri on this mission and was proven right when Okoye lost her. You understand why she would fire her and her reaction written in an understanding matter. You can see the heartbreak behind both characters and how, while this decision is hasty-- it gives her no joy.
