I had this same theory but when I talked to my geology professors they said pretty much the same: "sun, moon, gravity, and tsunamis". Idk how many seismometers are in the Gulf of Mexico but surely we should scatter them about. There's something going on down there especially after the Sept. 10, 2006, magnitude 6.0 earthquake on Florida Escarpment(I think) that was noticeable by thousands of people... and more other earthquakes. Plus tar lilies of asphalt volcanoes deep below. Awesome sight!
You don't look old enough to have been on an expedition in 1994. Since you must be, right on on the self care. Volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and landslides have been part of my lifetime lore and at times part of my life. I am happy that you get to learn about these things from the ocean floor, I think I will stick to the lore theory though: if the ocean goes away, run as high as fast as you can possibly get. Don't stop, don't look back, never again think of what you left. Just run.
Here in the Pacific NW along the coast we have hundreds of schools and other buildings (URMs) that won't withstand a large quake. The only way to know that a quake is imminent is to watch the animals.
Tidal Triggering of minor but more frequent earthquakes can forecast a higher risk of a major undersea earthquake and Tsunami risk.... As the power of tidal triggered earthquakes increase the risk of major earthquakes and Tsunami increase... this is a data intensive model that can benefit with stochastic artificial intelligent analysis....and further instrumentation development..
Michael Worship, good to hear someone mentioning Dutch. I have really learned so much from this unique human. He's giving me a little love for geology and geography. RUclips and Twitter have blocked him. It's strange that they would put so much energy into preventing people from viewing the content of a novice earthquake explorer.
Maybe the Navy might be able to help ? It is in our Nation's best humanitarian and national financial best interests . California is the world's 5th Largest economy and is a Huge Tax base that Washington DC relies on !
I don't understand how tiny crustal seismic activity can be translated into an earthquake. Also the data only represents a few sites spread over the whole planet for just a few years. I can see the crust flexing (breathing if you tend to be anthropomorphic) which could possibly, maybe affect the environment, but to relate a few tiny isolated squiggles to climate change is really stretching it.
Eight tons of water weight doesn't crush the ocean-bottom seismograph? I'd like you introduce you to Dorothy and Toto - they can explain a few things to you about the crushing force of weight.
Maya has a very big brain. Great presentation. Thank you for taking the time to inform us.
Wow!! Amazing earthquake sound!

Very interesting video. Great job in ur research too!

Great talk
Very informative and very interesting. My question is, when they retrieved the instrument, did they eat the crabs?
Can seismologist hook up " ULF " (ultra low frequency) transmitters to deep ocean Seismic Monitors to monitor Cascadia ???
Very interesting

Deacon, you're not getting the truth from your fake science gods. The chances of surviving there are next to zero.
6:30 Jim Berkland thanks you.
Tidal Trigger mode studies-earth Quakes are very interesting. where lies the cause ?

You need to talk with dutchsince ok he the real expert he will tell you whear the earth quakes will hit over the next week dont be shy regards michael

Tiny crustal seismic activity IS an earthquake.
