  • Unlike powerhouse ring bulls like the great John L Sullivan, the man who took that champion's belt employed tactics of a skilled matador during their 1892 battle in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Watch to discover just how Gentleman James J. Corbett did the seemingly impossible feat.

Hello and good morning from Greensboro, NC!
I literally just found your channel this morning and have watched several videos and I have absolutely enjoyed every single one. Actually, the way that I came across your channel was I was watching a Joe Rogan Short and they were talking about the Griffith vs Paret fight and him dying and all that and it was very interesting but not enough. So I searched RUclips and your video popped up and the rest is history.
So thank you for the great videos you’ve created and for now am hooked. A lot of it having to do with the great info that really does educate and other things but another example being your voice and narration skills. They work very well together and….. well you’ve got a great thing going and I want u to know that I really appreciate it. Is there a way to donate? Surely it’s not cheap to do the caliber of vids you are doing. Please let me know.
BUT! What originally got me commenting was the pic of you (I guess that’s you) and the smoke coming out of your mouth. Please take it off. In my opinion, it looks horrible and your voice doesn’t match my vision of what you look like and frankly, my opinion is the only one that really counts. Lol! JOKE! But, yes, seriously, pleeeease take it down. But if you don’t, I’m still going to enjoy your videos but (with finger pointed in the air) WILL NOT, like the pic and when I see it, will tell myself that it is NOT you but just a picture of one of your friends. That I don’t really cAre for. So yes I’m petty, lol but do keep the videos coming good sir!
    Goooood Day Mate!!

I'm really looking forward to the Bob Fitzsimmons breakdown. From Helston to the USA via NZ & Oz his life was amazing. John L, Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, "Judge" Roy Bean & Theo Roosevelt all crop up in his life story.

I can not credit Corbett when Mendoza was going this almost a 100 years before.

I thought about mentioning Mendoza, but there's not much to indicate his influence in the U.S. I'll have a video soon on Mendoza.

Depends how you view it, Boxing was not as big in America as in England at the time, all the big money fights like Cribb Molineaux or even the Heenan Sayers fight happen overseas. It was not until John L came along that the sport really pick up in America. But as for improving boxing for scientific?? Mendoza is right up there.

@Joshua Woods Don't forget Jack Broughton, who fought decades before Mendoza or ancient greek boxers that relied a lot on scientific movement.
