From those of you that think it's not gonna work, it does , my dad and I were doing this for people who couldn't afford to build a new blower and we sent them to the semi junkyard to get a 6v71 and we would do exactly what this man is doing and put on their cars and they were fine, my dad built many race car engines and this works and will save you thousands of dollars
I just recently got a 6v71, 8v71, and 8v92 for $100 each, been researching constantly to figure out how to convert em without bleeding money. I've read about the process countless times but your video did a much much better job of explaining it than any of the write ups I've seen, thank you
Just that kind of guy, even if they were more expensive.. most of us are not that rich.. and that's why we're doing this shit.. Great job,and yes it does work for all of you wondering.
Thank you for the video! just picked up two 8v71 blowers for 40 bucks. Blower prices have gotten out of reach. I see im not the only one looking to do it the old way.
Glad I found this video. I’m working on converting a 6v53 for my 318 now and was wondering about the bearings. After watching your video I think I got it fingered out.
Very cool 🤙 I used to run a 6v71 on my suburban. Gary dyers of Dyers blower service (I believe is the name can't remember its been a decade or so. The center bolts are at a 31° angle for who needs it.
I have like 4 of these blowers in are storage unit. Thought about doing this a few times. We work on Detroit Diesels all the time and can actually rebuild the blowers in house. We never did a conversion before though. The 6-71 blowers are more common. The 8V71 blowers are most for big block applications.
Plus also you have to remember that every blower guy has the same blowers as the next blower guy .... that's until you pull into the car show with a 6v71 and now your the unique one that stands out and the one who will have a conversation starter
Wanna see more!! I been wanting to do this for a while. Got a buddy has a salvage yard for big trucks, I can get one cheep, but idk crap about blowers.
What did people do before the blower shop?.....exactly what you are doing but with less options!.....thanks im doing the very same thing. had one of those blower shop cheerleaders tell me it would cost to much. well i linked all the parts and prices to do it to him showing im not even 1/4 of the $4-5k for a new 6-71 kit
Typical laziness of the world today not only in America but also abroad. Those who are the ones willing to do it themselves and get it done correctly and then enjoy their work are much better people than the other ones. Met and know both and those who brag and pay someone else to do it are the ones that you can't trust. If they really will lie about that they will lie about anything else.
OK, so how much did you end up having into the setup by the time you were done? P.S. Where are you finding/sourcing the 6v-71's anyway? P.P.S. I see no more videos were made on this, so it looks like it didn't happen!! Oh well, back to spending $8000 on a small blower setup!!
It works. You just have to be able to do stuff and source parts yourself. Originally this is where the blowers came from. It’s just when it became more common they started building blowers specifically for use on cars. A “proper” blower with the Teflon seals and such would make a little more power and be a little more efficient. But, if you’re not racing and really need that bit of extra power it isn’t particularly worth the extra price.
After all that talk about saving money and the “built not bought” mantra, you got hosed on a carb adapter plate. You didn’t exactly need much fabrication talent to figure out how to get a pair of carb’s bolted to the top of a V blower.
The 6v71 blowers are more smaller then the 6-71. It needs to be smaller for it to fit in the top vs the side on a inline. Pretty sure they move the same amount of air though.
The 6v71 case has four bolts holding it to the adapter plate and the 8v71 has 6 bolts . You'd have to get the conversion adapter plate with 6 bolts in order for it to work with an 8V 71 case

Thank you! Its difficult to find ANYTHING about doing a 6V71 conversion - your video is much appreciated.

Cut through the drama and bs with machetti. Nice work!!! Keeping it simple!
Love the video and to the point. I’m from the UK and want to get a blower on my Rover/Buck V8 3.5l.. so looking ideas and how to. Thank you again
Just that kind of guy, even if they were more expensive.. most of us are not that rich.. and that's why we're doing this shit..
Great job,and yes it does work for all of you wondering.
Man this video has been more helpful than you could imagine, thank you!
This is an awesome video, I love the attitude!!!
Thank you for the video!

Thanks for putting this video out, it's the info I've been looking for
this is one of the most entertaining video i have seen in a hot second
Glad to hear how you put it out there and tell it how it is!😊
Tada. Looks like it will work just fine.
I have like 4 of these blowers in are storage unit.

Can we get a video #2? I need a update.
Thank you! Keep em coming. I'll be looking for you videos Subscribed!! No BS love it
Thanks Allen your video was funny as shit I enjoyed it getting a 671 off truck tomorrow was looking what road to use thanks for your time helpful

It can be done and done cheaply. Some guys have more money than sense and love wasting it. Looking forward to the next video.
Well done man ! Love your video cheers.
Wanna see more!! I been wanting to do this for a while. Got a buddy has a salvage yard for big trucks, I can get one cheep, but idk crap about blowers.
You can use a tunnel ram as well. Not just a blower intake
A lot better torque also with using a tunnel ram with the blower
Nice, thanks for sharing!. Hoping to see more, any chance of a 2nd video coming?.
Best of luck with your project if still ongoing!
I approved of this video, with considerable prejudice. Thank you for the video.

The key to doing this kinda thing is to just think logical and think outside of the box
Come on next video iv just bought a v671 that I want to run 20% under for 5psi on my stock chevy 350. Thanks for this video hope it's going well
great video
I wonder how a big block would react with the bypass blower from a silver series and the 2 turbos
Please upload video 2
I like this guy!
Great video !! 👍
Good attitude
Where’s the next video
Good job . TexasRatRod got the music right but part 2 and 3 sucked . Did you get to the pluging part yet ?

I guess part 2 isn't coming

4 years later and no update? Did this even work?

Uploaded two hear ago, going to assume it cant be done.
Hold up. Are you converting a 6V71 to a Gasoline engine?
I need that adapter
Personally I blame squirrels 🐿️
Can doit with a tunnelram inlet
Try 4500 on a used kir from jegs

I thought the same, I would personally made it but I have the equipment to do so.
That looks like a 4-71, a real 6-71 blower is about 15 in long. A 4-71 in 10, a 8-71 is over 20 in long.
The 6v71 blowers are more smaller then the 6-71.

I'm looking at one for a BBC, it's an 8v-71, I'm guessing this is the same process yes? Is there a different way to mount it to a BBC manifold?
Kain Ariylius there the same , they sell adapters on eBay , and dean blowers has the conversion kits.
It's okay if u don't give a shit about putting out a bad video because that means I can block and remove u from my feed. Bu by.
Pita diesel blowers. Loads of adapting.
Will it fit an 8 71?
The 6v71 case has four bolts holding it to the adapter plate and the 8v71 has 6 bolts . You'd have to get the conversion adapter plate with 6 bolts in order for it to work with an 8V 71 case
East side garage it is then.
