Toss, Jeff and Travis gotta be havin' the time of their lives on this tour. I've never seen so many smiles and people having such a great time making unbelieveable music. I'd have loved to be on their road crew just to see what these two geniuses crafted musically each night!
Larry Carlton, beyond doubt, is unbelievable, but what is it that makes Robben Ford so special? His playing is so down to earth and agreeable, yet sophisticated, funky and bluesy, tasty and dynamic, avantgard and recognisable at the same time. There are more technical players out there, still RF is the one who combines the best mix of everything.
Are they having a great time or what ! Two GREAT PLAYERS--two of my favorites. That organ & piano solo on Rio was out of there--right over the top ! What a GROOVE--a great line up---OUTSTANDING !
Larry and Robben are kindred spirits of sort! One was a jazzer turned on to blues and the other was blues guy turned on to jazz. Both are so tasteful that it is sickening. They bring a whole new level to the game and Babko is a genius!
QUE LINDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, AMEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
21:12 Robben asked Larry "Is this right?" hahahah and then they stopped and Larry went to Robben telling him.."this key mate..G something something..." and Robben said..."ahhhhhhhhhhhh......". CUTE!
Why do people pick apart the technicalities in the sound and the mix? "Robben was too loud" "Couldn't hear the keys". Get over it and just listen to the musicianship and appreciate it for what these geniuses are giving to you.
A lot of criticism of these two. Not sure why. If I walked into a club and these two were playing, I would order a beer, find a seat and enjoy this immensely.
I would have fired soundman for not having Larry in the mix at first. Travis had to bring over monitor guy to get it straightened out in the first tune.
Great point, wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out. That said, could've been any number of things that went wrong there, from a bad cable to blown tweeter, to (as you mentioned) incompetent sound engineer. Not sure we can definitely blame him, though.
I think the soundman was just dumb. Robben's volume was WAY up and the volume on the rest of the mix was low, couldn't hear the key's, bass or Larry's guitar at all, and it's obvious when they crank them up.
Rolover rover and let Larry and Robbin take over, Sorry for the pun but when the masters are in the house..........Ya know Thier are so many great, I mean great players out thier, specilly theise days, but thiese two will always remain in the top 5 or 10.
Great stuff ! ! ! - but what's going on here? Venue change around 12:11? Or did Robben just pop out to pull on a woolen sweater while Larry moved the monitors? Still my fave players (along with Lee - Jimi & Jeff)
Lol, exactly what I was thinking ! A sad case of great session muso's thinking that they can perform live, sorry guy's, it's like watching, and listening to, paint dry. Stay in the studio where u belong.
Artful Dodger It's all about the music, and unfortunately, it sucks. No doubt that Larry and Robbin are excellent musicians, the problem is that they are probably too good, in that they try to complicate the music, and it ends up as soulless complex noise. They take blues/pop and try to infuse it with a bit of jazz and funk here and there, and it just takes too much concentration and becomes contrived and ends up an annoying mess. 'Jazz Fusion' died a well deserved death in the '80's, these guys demonstrate why.
Artful Dodger Well, watching a Larry David look-a-like doing his best copy of Barry Manilow's dance moves whilst butchering the pentatonic scale, doesn't really do it for me, Buddy.
Well, here's everything you need.
Two guys who play all the right notes, the right way. Doesn't get better.
Larry gives you exactly what you want. Robben gives you what you didn't even know you needed. Beautiful.
My gosh! Larry and Robben, my heroes! The band was incredible! and the piano man just friggin' killed it! Wow......
two gods, one amazing musicianship
sublime I'm blown away by this stuff.
The two most accomplished guitarists playing together.....fabulous. RUclips's brilliant isn't it?
One of his best gigs !!

Simply cream of the crop, Best of the best.

Thanks so much for posting this. Two absolute Masters at work, incredible.
hace mucho riempo que los sigo a ambos;sin duda de lo mejor que nos ha dado el genero, gran tecnica y mucho feeling...fantasticos guitarristas ambos.

IMPRESIONANTES COMO TOCAN Y COMO SUENAN !! ♫♫♪♪
Larry got da bobble head blues. I love these guys.
As long as his head doesn't fall off.
During Larry Carlton's solo performance on the first song, "That Road," Robben Ford's backing performance sounds cool.
Nossa, Larry é foda demais; Baita músico , muito bom os dois . muita sonzera!
These great players really KNOW how to choose notes!
Are they having a great time or what ! Two GREAT PLAYERS--two of my favorites. That organ & piano solo on Rio was out of there--right over the top ! What a GROOVE--a great line up---OUTSTANDING !

Sorry for the dumb and stupid Sound Engineers at 3:50 . He needs 20 sec's to find out that the Solo Guitar changes.
first I was like, how can Robben's guitar sound so incredibly good, than I saw the amp behind him .. you can't say a bad thing about Dumbles
Vincenzo Grieco "Remembering Giorgio" (directed by Pierpaolo Moio) www.vincenzogrieco.it

StarStudiesMusic Looks like the bass man had issues too
I think the soundman was just dumb. Robben's volume was WAY up and the volume on the rest of the mix was low, couldn't hear the key's, bass or Larry's guitar at all, and it's obvious when they crank them up.

JEFF COFFINに聞いて早速ロビンを聞いた
haha the announcer
Yikes the sound mix was really suffering in the first 5 minutes or so.
It would sound better if they had EMGs in their guitars and shred a little more. Kinda dull. My two cents
No.
+Hermes Cosmo you know nothing about good tone nor blues playing. Obviously
No.
Impeccable musicianship, and dull as bloody dishwater. Superior elevator music.
Lol, exactly what I was thinking !

Let's hear some of your stuff...
Artful Dodger Which part of my post is 'ignorant'? The part where I said they are "excellent musicians"?
Artful Dodger Well, watching a Larry David look-a-like doing his best copy of Barry Manilow's dance moves whilst butchering the pentatonic scale, doesn't really do it for me, Buddy.
queeeeeeeeee pendejadaaaaaaaaaaa
For me there is one totally overrated,
and Mr. Ford is one of the Greatest all the time!!!
