    My biggest issue with PS2 backwards compatability is the fact that I have to re-buy the game if I already own it where as on Xbox I own a physical copy of Time Splitters 2 for the OG Xbox and I can just put it back in my Xbox Series X and play no issues.

    Very subtle differences between the two versions. PS2\5 version has some things like lens flares for the flashlight, and some motion blur, amongst a few other minor additions. The Xbox/Series version is missing a few of those things, but could argue the lack of blur makes the image cleaner and smoother. One other small negative is that dark shadowed areas with low black levels on the Xbox version show some banding within the gradients. General brightness being higher on the Xbox could be due to the output signal of the console being recorded versus any internal differences within the game.
    Both look like solid emulations though. Just a case of preference it seems :)
    Personally the PS2/PS5 version looks closer to how I remember it looking back in the day, despite owning an Xbox copy myself back then xD

    It’s downloading now! I can’t wait.
    The arcade and the challenges were goat’d
    The greatest content for a single player fps of all time
    Nothing comes close. So many skins, map maker, and tiers of challenges
    It will never be this good again.
    This is 5 dlcs worth of content and two season passes

    I got them all on both. Prefer ps5 versions because of video options to make Contrast higher. Xbox version is more crisp but aspect ratio are off. Less wide vs ps5 more wide. Future perfect on ps5 is full screen vs xbox very thin black bars on side.

    Now that PS and Xbox have access to these games, let's hope Switch gets these too emulating the Gamecube versions. But the real question is will they lock it behind the Nintendo Switch Online subscription?

    there is one thing i always wished time splitters had and that is the animation work of goldeneye and perfect dark. the death animations of enemies and how they move during combat makes shooting feel a little more fun to me. time splitters 2 is already such an amazing game and basically its already there as a masterpiece but that one little thing would set it off into the stratosphere for me 💙

      What's your definition of backwards compatibility?

    • @grizzlybearking1878
      @grizzlybearking1878 Месяц назад

      @lambasted6886 It's not MY definition
      *Backward compatibility refers to the ability of a system, software, or device to work with older versions or previous iterations. It means that new versions are designed to be compatible with older versions, ensuring that they can still communicate and function together seamlessly*
      This isn't what's happening on xbox. Each individual game is literally recreated from ground up for Xbox one/Series. They go through recertification and Q/A again as a brand new game. Each and every games source code was required. They are effectively repackaged ports. When you insert the disc, it pulls that port from the store and downloads it for free.

    • @lambasted6886
      @lambasted6886 Месяц назад

      @grizzlybearking1878 Oh that's cool, I didn't realize the distinction. What would be a good name for what the Xbox does, like if you had to brand it in a way a consumer could understand quickly?

    looks almost exactly the same, the most i can easily detect is subtle colour and contrast differences, which was always common between the two different console brands, great port/emulation for both, the playstation one tho is greatly expanding ps2 capability, while the og xbox compat on series consoles/one consoles is very very small and wont change anymore sadly

    In this case, ps5 wins. Series X looks very blurry.

  • @DontGiveUp_Skeleton
    @DontGiveUp_Skeleton 3 месяца назад +9

    The big differences are obviously the wider aspect ratio, the higher resolution and the much more detailed environment textures on Xbox. Playstation has interlaced emulation which gives it that classic PS2 blur.

    • @retrogamer64007
      @retrogamer64007 3 месяца назад +4

      Playstation has the slightly wider aspect ratio with bars on side being less big. In future perfect it's full wide screen on ps5 on series X there thin bars on side. Xbox version looks more crisp but washed out more. On ps5 you can set color space to wide or its called modern in setting so black is more black. I got them on both and xbox version stick is too sensitive where as ps5 controls are spot on to original. In the end neither are perfect ports or emulation but at least ps5 has the color space option and rewind feature and has all 3 games. PS5 has the slight edge there

      GOOD. Achievements have been one of the many banes of video games and this game does not need them. Remember when video games actually had rewards instead of relegating EVERYTHING to trophies? Timesplitters 2 is a painful reminder because there is a shit tonne of stuff to get in this game and it still holds up marvellously on all fronts.

    • @Angel_eyes6
      @Angel_eyes6 3 месяца назад +1

      @@Hysteria98 I think you missed the point it’s about what console has the better version not about if the game holds up I wouldn’t be here if it didn’t. And trophies are just a nice bonus and would make the ps5 version tempting to play otherwise I’ll be playing it on Xbox.
