  • With the East Coast Mainline between Peterborough and Doncaster being shut due to engineering work, all rail services were rerouted on the Joint Line through Spalding, Lincoln and Gainsborough. It presented one of the last opportunities to see the LNER class 43's and Hull Trains class 180's work passengers services on this diversionary route. Alongside the passenger services, there were a few freight services. One was a GBRf intermodal service on its regular route and the other was the Doncaster based RHTT train running a return trip to Sleaford.
There was quite a bit of disruption to the EMR and Northern services while I was spotting. There was a failed Class 56 near Newark Castle that cancelled and amended many services so I didn't see many EMR trains. This did result in some overcrowding on the Northern service to Leeds but that then resulted in an Pacer ECS move. The Pacer in Platform 1 was supposed to be coupled to the Leeds train but that didn't happen as there was apparently a fault on it. However, it then coupled up to a single 153 and went ECS to Sheffield.
