    I bought this mower for residential use this year and I'm really please so far. I've only used it a couple of times but it's good. I do have the electric start though. That was the only one the dealer had so I took it but my first choice was the non-electric start just because it seemed like there was more to break with the electric start, battery, etc. Having said that I do really like the electric start. It just easy and it works.
    Love the U of M hat!

    Really good review - thanks. I just bought one based on this. I tried to follow your advice and buy it at a local Toro dealer, but none of them had one so I ended up buying at Home Depot. Hopefully the time saved cutting will more than offset the assembly time!

    Thanks for the review. I have mixed feelings about this mower. On the one hand it does a great job and substantially reduces my cut time. On the other hand it has a ridiculously small gas tank and is pretty temperamental. Mine has been in for service 3 times, one of which required a full engine replacement. I've owned it less than 2 years and use it solely for my own yard. Toro and Briggs & Stratton both stood behind their product and I haven't spent a dime but it's still annoying. Can't say I'd recommend it.

    I just bought this behemoth last fall to use this season. I have about a 1/2 acre property that is mostly flat. I was just about to start it up and decided to get a refresher course first. I wanted to know if there was anything special I needed to do before I started it up. I forgot what I was told in the fall (I blame WiFi). :) Nope, just gas and check the oil. NOTE: What Michael Douglas said is correct about the dealer. I ordered it from Toro online to a local dealer (True Value Hardware in Centereach, NY) and the local dealer contacted me with a delivery date. They came over and dropped it off about a week or so later. They familiarized me with everything and made sure I was comfortable using it before they left. I was amazed at this personalized service. I HIGHLY agree and recommend using a local Toro dealer. It might take a week or so for you to actually get the mower, but it is worth it. The mower was set up and ready to go when delivered with a private lesson on how to operate and maintain the mower. Can't beat that.

    • @Liberty73_NA
      @Liberty73_NA 4 года назад +1

      @@mct8888 On the 1/2 acre I think you could go either way. Ride on mowers will get the job done faster than a traditionally sized push mower, and they are also great for picking up leaves if you live in a temperate climate zone. You can also haul small loads with it too. I didn't go down that road because ride on mowers are more expensive in general, and I probably would have wanted something over $2000. I see my neighbor getting maintenance done at least twice a year for his ride on. With the traditional mower, I feel confident enough that I can do the maintenance myself. With a ride on mower, I wouldn't even attempt it. I rarely need to move things very far in my yard, so the hauling factor wasn't important to me. My wheel barrow works fine anyway. Leaf clean up is probably the only area where I might wish I had a ride on. Storage is another issue. Ride on mowers are larger and usually have bigger accessories. I have a big garage, but I didn't want to dedicate a large portion of it to a lawn mower. One of the most important factors is that I need the exercise. :) I sit down too much already. I have to admit, I used to dread mowing because it took so long (exercise or not!). With this Timemaster, I get done pretty quick. Almost as quick as my neighbors with their ride on mowers. The fuel tank size is an issue as many people have written in reviews. I get around this by mowing my front yard, topping off the tank and then mowing the back. It doesn't seem to bother me when I do that. So far I am loving this mower. For some good info on this mower, look up The Lawn Care Nut's videos (here on RUclips) and search for "Timemaster." Or just follow this link: ruclips.net/user/Thelawncarenutsearch?query=timemaster

      Liberty75 thank you for the detailed advice. What’s your experience with the small gas tank? 45 min run time is kind of a joke.

    • @Liberty73_NA
      @Liberty73_NA 4 года назад

      @@mct8888 I mow the front and then top-off the tank and then mow the back. I kept the "sponge" insert in the tank. Other people take that sponge insert out and they say they get a longer run time. I haven't tried that yet. I know that when I first mowed my lawn without topping off, I did run out of gas (which is why I top it off now). It really isn't a bother to top off the tank (for me anyway) since the yard is completed much faster than it used to be. It isn't the perfect mower, but I can live with its faults and I'm overall happy with it.

    Great review! I've watched a several different videos for the same model of this. It seemed like this Toro Timemaster model is really a decent mower. I have a Toro Recycler 20332 22" with 190CC flathead B&S. I had no problems with it since I take care of it really well and i have it for like over 6 years. I just pulled to start engine with just one pull rope. I think i would like to have a 30" because my new home with this lawn is quite larger and grass is so thick, but my mower can handles it no problem but it took me forever to finish my whole lawn. Do you think can you recommend this Toro timemaster? I also consider Toro HDX 22225. But I can't decide between those two models. I also have another question. How difficult is it to replace the belts? How often should I replace it?

    One question. What's the reason for not recommending if you have a hill? If going perpendicular on the hill, do you believe it would work fine? I've yet to buy this machine, but thinking about picking one up this week. Was going to get it from the HD, but makes sense to go to a dealer. I have s few Toro dealers in my area and looking on line they are the same price at one that post pricing. Thanks for the heads up 👍

    • @douglaslawncare2843
      @douglaslawncare2843  4 года назад +2

      It’s heavier than your standard 22 inch push mower. The tranny isn’t very powerful when it comes to steep hills. I would definitely recommend going perpendicular. It weighs about 150 pounds compared to a 80-90 pound 22 inch push mower.

    • @douglaslawncare2843
      @douglaslawncare2843  4 года назад

      Depends on how steep the hill is and if you’re trying to go up it. It will hold a hill well if your going sideways. The transition is not very powerful so if you’re trying to go up a steep hill I would not recommend it. It’s quite a bit heavier than a 22”. That extra weight makes going up a steep hill hard.

    How would you compare the TimeMaster to the Toro Proline 32? I can pick up one used for the price of a new Timemaster. I'm only using it for my 1/3rd acre lawn that is a little hilly so not commercial use. I hear the proline 32 is easier and more heavy duty for hilly lawns.

    • @douglaslawncare2843
      @douglaslawncare2843  3 года назад

      I have never used the proline but I have used an Exmark metro which is basically the same thing. It really depends on what your looking for. The proline is going to be heavier but it’s probably more powerful and built stronger. I’m personally not a huge fan of belt drive mowers. It has a lot bigger gas tank than the timemaster. I’m not a huge fan of the pistol grips though and I really like the personal pace system. I’d say if you’re going through thick stuff you’d want the proline but if your using it weekly the timemaster is probably going to be easier to use. You really can’t go wrong either way though.

    Hi... I'm a small lawn care business owner too and was thinking about investing in Toro Timemaster but there are few things that worry me.. First is just a matter of convenience since I've been using Honda mower with their genius versamow system which means no mulch plugs, no side discharge shute, nothing. I would probably loose these stuff or forget to put the right setup for the right mowing application.
    The other thing that's bugging me is that a Timemaster is a residential mower and I simply can't afford to invest into it's commercial grade cousin Exmark 30". I mow about 2-3 hours daily during the season, do you think Timemaster can handle that? What is your experience?Thank you in advance..

    • @douglaslawncare2843

  • @SinnerSince1962
    @SinnerSince1962 Год назад

    My take on the Timemaster after owning it for 3 years. The good: Stong engine. Good build quality. I like the wheel drive system. I like the single lever wheel adjust. It's a two/three pull engine start. The deck cuts close to obstacles. I like the folding handle and it's simple release lever. The bad: Deck clogs badly on even slightly wet grass, and makes mulching hard. The wash-out system is virtually useless. The opening of the bagger won't fit into brown recycling bags, making it difficult to empty without making a mess. The gas cap should be subject to recall. The rubber seal does not mate properly and gas sloshes out and around the seal. I even installed a new cap with the same result. I found my own thicker seal and fixed it immediately. The blue foam in the tank is an absolute joke. I kept mine in for some time, but eventually yanked it out. It's volume was substantial to an already undersized tank. My conclusion: It's a great mower that works well in dry grass. It is very durable and has cut 5-7 yards a week for 3 years for me now. It has been a real money maker. The deck could be better. The tank should be larger. Bought mine in 2020 for $1099 and the price increase to 2023 of $1599 has far outpaced inflation. Hey, they know they have a winner, and they are pricing it to what the market will fetch. I tried to buy mine at the local Toro dealer, but they didn't have any in stock at the time. Home Depot had one, so I got mine there. Every time I get parts at that dealer, he asks is I bought i there. I get to rub it in how they didn't have any when I needed it. Toro corporate should be taking care of the Toro dealers who service these machines by making sure they get the first dibs they need to make a new sale, but they don't.

      @@douglaslawncare2843 That is also incorrect. I have the electric starter one, so I speak from experience. They come with a rechargable battery. You plug a charging cable (provided with the mower) into the key turn to charge it. The battery lasts about a year. Not a terrible downside for having to charge about once a year. That's what I do. 7:24 "...too heavy to pick up." Just get a ramp kit for your truck tailgate and bolt on some 8ft. wooden studs to walk the Timemaster into back of truck. One man job, I do it all the time, you can push it up without power engaged but it's easier depending on how long the planks are and how steep your angle is to load.
      Also be very wary of any excessive vibration which could mean one of the blades may be starting to crack from stress. Hairline cracks may be almost invisible to naked eye but will produce considerable vibration when synchro belt is engaged and blades are turning. Expect to have downtimes for replacing cables and belts which are going to break or wear out eventually. Everything can be DIY if you have mechanical ability.

    You are lucky to get five years out of this machine. Loved it until it was worthless. Belts, pulleys, spindles, cables, kill switch , nothing is made to last. The worst design failure is grass and debris accumulation under the plastic cowl covering the front pulley system. Belt tensioner, pulleys and deck get destroyed. The problem is no one makes a 30- 32 inch mower in this price range. Everything else is commercial and over 3K.
