We bought key FOBs in the aftermarket from 2 different suppliers on Ebay for our 2016 Cadillac XTS. None of them would program following the exact instructions in this video and other websites. We would get to “ready for key 3" and then press the start button to program but nothing would happen. It would just freeze. Finally we discovered that putting the replacement FOB in the console pocket upside down (pointed end on top) with buttons still facing backward worked perfectly. After failing 20 times, we we quickly programed 3 new keys. If the normal way does not work for you, try flipping the replacement FOB upside down!

This procedure only works until 2016. A 2017 XTS requires 2 fobs to simply add a key. Ok, I've purchased (Amazon) a Aupoko Keyless Entry Remote Control NBG009768T, 5 Button 315MHz Uncut Insert Blade Car Smart Key Fob for my 2014 Cadillac XTS. I also have a working key fob. Not sure if it's the original fob, but it's very similar (visually) to the one I just purchased on Amazon. I didn't buy the car new, so any key fob info I didn't get; however, it's supposed to have a remote start system. My question is with the type of fob I just purchased, will the programming of it enable the remote start?? It doesn't work on my working fob, but again, I don't know if it's the original and/or if it's currently not programmed correctly. The goal is to have a fob with the ability to do remote start. How should I proceed??
The remote start will only work on the fob if the vehicle is has the option installed, it sounds like yours may not. You can verify that by taking your VIN number and calling a GM dealership. Speak with their Parts Department - they can look up the original buildsheet for your vehicle and see what options it has
Ok, 2 things: 1) At step #5, the remote number does not advance (i.e. from remote #3 to #4) when I press the ENGINE START/STOP button. I've tried this step at least 8 times and it doesn't advance. 2) I confirmed with the GM Dealership that my model does have the remote start package and I'm not able to get the car to start on the working remote. Ok, after further testing, I was able to figure out the remote start and was able to get it to work. Still having the issue w/ programming my 3rd remote/key fob.
Step 5 is when the new remote actually programs, once the new remote successfully programs then the remote number advances. Since you are not getting the new remote to program, it sounds like there may be an issue with the new fob you are trying to use.

So I got this for my 2013 XTS and programming worked perfectly however, this fob has the 2X button for the trunk as opposed to the Hold button and does not work for the trunk. Do you know of a workaround for that?

Hello, I successfully added a new fob to my ‘16 SRX, but the fob button for the back hatch will not work. The parking lights blink twice so it’s recognizing the fob, just won’t open the hatch. Any suggestions?
Yeah! That part required some reading! Your other video about how to add a key with no other key was the closest to the Manual. A part I think that people should pay attention to is when you said you have to wait for 10min 3 separate times. To get to the point to add up to 8 new keys/remotes. But again, great video!
I need to reprogram my husbands key fob. Mine works-his does not. By trying to reprogram his, will I be erasing the one that works?? If first attempt doesn't work, how long do you have to wait to try again? Do you mean reprogramming erases previous programing on the remote that isn't working?
This procedure does not erase existing fobs - there is a programming procedure that does erase all programmed remotes this one does not. The vehicle should stay in programming mode until you hold down the stop/start button for 12 seconds

The emergency key doesn't need to be cut on the new fob order for the new fob to program but you will need at least 1 emergency key that is cut in order to do the procedure.
@@PYR-Auto one thing i noticed is that the doesnt stand or lay it goes into a push in slot next to thepower key receptacle. Does the top of the Fob face the rear of the car or does the bottom of the fob. Thank You for previous answer, also.
The transmitter pocket is in the center console like shown in the video - you can also see that in your owners manual. I faced the button to the rear but I think it may work either way
@@PYR-Auto My 2016 SRX, I laid my key fob in the pocket(bottom of center console) face up. It does not a "Slot" but a spot molded in the bottom of center console in the shape of Fob. The whole procedure took only a few minutes.
Dealer told me they needed a special scan tool to program the fob what a load of BS. I just did it myself in less than 10 minutes on my 2014 Cadillac cts performance

What is different on the 2017. This did a total 30 minute reprogram of key one, but couldn't seem to get key 2 to do anything.

How do you change a key fobs assigned number?

You will need to use the video below. If you look at the steps in the description box of that video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new remote is programmed to re-program it. ruclips.net/video/U85T3neElkA/видео.html

I have a 2016 ATS. Does the emergency key have to be cut before I program the Fob or does it matter? Thanks
The emergency key doesn't need to be cut on the new fob order for the new fob to program but you will need at least 1 emergency key that is cut in order to do the procedure.
@@PYR-Auto one thing i noticed is that the doesnt stand or lay it goes into a push in slot next to thepower key receptacle. Does the top of the Fob face the rear of the car or does the bottom of the fob. Thank You for previous answer, also.
The transmitter pocket is in the center console like shown in the video - you can also see that in your owners manual. I faced the button to the rear but I think it may work either way

@@PYR-Auto My 2016 SRX, I laid my key fob in the pocket(bottom of center console) face up. It does not a "Slot" but a spot molded in the bottom of center console in the shape of Fob. The whole procedure took only a few minutes.

No - the 2017 XT5 requires two working remotes in order to be able to use the add a key procedure.

Dealer told me they needed a special scan tool to program the fob what a load of BS. I just did it myself in less than 10 minutes on my 2014 Cadillac cts performance
