looks a great game , I've enjoyed the lull in new releases as I've finally played some games I missed like Detroit becoming human, horizon zero dawn , etc This game looks great but 60 quid ... biggest thing is the no save on a run, I've got kids and time is tight , it's what put me off returnal, I like any game to allow me to drop in and out at any moment. I may see if I can get if second hand or when it's on bargain, I love stupid ai; something great about feeling that superhuman skill
I always regretted that Dishonored made me feel bad for playing a slightly faster, more lethal play style. For that reason, this is refreshing for me :)

Something that sticks out about this game is that it’s actually funny. Most “quippy” games are more endearing than funny, but this game is just, funny-funny. Colt has some great lines
When I first saw Deathloop revealed I was like “alright that looks cool” and then during the second trailer I realized it’s by Arkane was super hyped for it. Their games are some of my favorites. Hoping this releases for PS4 at some point
It looks like they could have made it run on old gen. It's probably just not on there because Sony wanted to use this to get more people to buy a PS5 and now where Microsoft owns it it's a weird situation because i doubt they will make another port for a sony console, and when the game releases on xbox next year they're probably already over the last gen consoles

The thing I love about the game is it makes it more accessible to jump into, if you are a little bit put off by the kind of drabness and slowness of the Dishonored games. And it really opens up once you get the residuum and blink powers
Players keep saying to play your own way , be stealthy , be stylish , run and gun...but I just wish there was rewards for doing cool things like residium multipliers or whatever.
I swear, Arkane did the 60s vibe so, so well. I usually don’t like that genre much either, but it’s so colorful and bright, and the music is so fun and nice to listen to I’m also never really a fan of quick-paced games, but Deathloop is the one exception because they did it so well
Anyone who played through the game should look up the lore on RUclips. A lot of each character's backstory gets lost because the focus is gameplay, but the story actually is really cool when you put the pieces together. I wish the narrative would have been as in your face as the leads were
I just got the Sepulchra Breteira, I won't explain what that is because potential spoiler for some but if you know then you know, and I'm loving it. Also just survived my first full day (after intro) and killed three Visionaries, this game is an absolute thrill and delivers well on those narrow escape moments. So yes, I am thoroughly enjoying Deathloop myself!
How long would you say it takes to click? I really enjoy pretty much everything about this game... except, I just can't seem to follow the "story/golden path" jumping from each of the 8. Its no clicking yet
I'm about 3 or so hours in and I have mixed feelings and I'm not even sure I understand what the hell I'm doing. I know I'm in a time loop but holy hell everything seems to be very complex and a times confusing.
Man, I comboed aether with the upgrades for not running down power when still and not revealing your whereabouts when you shoot with the rapier with explosive bullets and the game melted and the Halps to kill visionaries). Great game, disappointed by the ending cut scenes.
I think I will get it eventually. My September is pretty full though, what with tales of Arise that I'm currently playing. Then Kena next week. It's great though that we have so many different types of games to choose from. Spoilt for choice really.
It's very expensive in NZ, so I'm waiting for a sale before jumping in. In the meantime though I'm playing Dishonored (got lost and never finished it) and then going to try Dishonored 2
I don't understand how you can like Dishonored 1 and not 2. Dishonored 2 is just the same game but improved in every way. I think Dishonored 2 is the best game Arkane has made by far. The level design, art style, world, enemies and most important all the ways you can use the powers are just so amazing.
Wondering if you could answer a question I have in regard to the DLC weapons. I understand that you lose everything you have on you when you die and I wondering if you can permanently lose them? what with them being paid DLC and all.
the weapons become available to you after a long tutorial point when you can infuse and and keep certain items. the DLC pre-order weapons show up in the inventory and I believe they were already infused and locked in, so you can't permanently lose them unless you specifically decide to ditch them
JAKE! The thing i want to know more is about the adaptive triggers and noticing that your gameplay is playstation, I have to ask, how were the adaptive triggers? Were they interesting and really cool, or so bad it made you turn it off?

I have had it on console with Dishonored 1 & 2 for over a year and haven't played any of them so I hear you. I do have a giant backlog of games & they always seem to get pushed aside when I'm picking a new game to play o.O
This is one of those games for me that looks amazing and I would love to play. But i just can’t send $60 for 20-30 hours of gameplay. I’m one of those people that needs more bang for buck but I’ll definitely wishlist and pick it up down the road. Great video again jake.
The hyper marketing put me off this one, I wasn't a dishonored or prey fan so this wasn't technically up my alley anyway. The "shagadelic" theme is also grating to me That being said it is reviewing well, Im currently at a "rent it at some point" level of interest

It feels like the game doesn’t take itself very seriously and wants you just to have fun, also it encourages exploring and experimenting with the powers you get. That’s why I love Arkane they always make games with unique ideas

Spot on about the 60s aesthetics. I can't stand all the "gee golly willickers!" stuff in Bioshocks, Fallouts, Outer Worlds, etc, and in most cases avoid games that have it because it's so overplayed. But here it's unique and quite brilliant. Very Clockwork Orange-y, 60s James Bonds, etc. I just wish I can play on Xbox :/
I was kind of writing it off after the past few showings. Just seemed a little obtuse and didn’t seem like it had that much replay value for me. With that being said after all of the pleasantly surprised reviews, I think I’ll give it a try. Thanks for all you do, Jake!

Yeah, so this game is genius. I love it. Never played anything like it so it was hard to wrap my head around but the more I play it the more I love it. I feel like they have invented a new type of game. Truly, this feels like a conceptual progression in video games.
I didn't expect this game to be highly rated by critics. This game is still not my thing and I don't want to have a deja vu in which critics convince me to play a game that I could possibly hate/dislike. However, I hope everyone else has a lot of fun with this game.
I also found Arkane's Prey to be overrated, I just didn't care for it. Took me about 6 months to finally finish because I kept stopping lol. I honestly loved Prey 2006 way more. Gotta disagree with Deathloops being the best game with that 60s spy style. That will always go to the NOLF games.
10:19 I’ve seen a ton of reviews on this and I have yet to see anyone mention the audio work that goes on here. You can hear Colts voice reverberate off the environment. It’s the first thing I notice when I started how his voice sounds completely different within the environment depending if you’re indoor or outdoors. It goes such a long way in making your character feel present in their environment, which is especially important for an FPS when you’re essentially a floating camera.
Played it 12 hours str8 today, love the chaotic gameplay and the dismemberment of limbs and heads being blown off😁. I did have the game freeze twice as I was exiting the mission at the keypad doors, I killed Juliana and the slab fell into the water off the map, had to redo those but I'm loving it.

There's many things to do at the moment. Every power has a non lethal way to be used. Use them to get away or hide.

I FINALLY unlocked the residuum and more roguelite elements of the game! It took a while but NOW the game is really picking up.

I bought the Deluxe Edition a few days ago because it was on Sale and I'm really enjoying it so far.

Don't know if this will help but I'm in AU and although the game is $100 on ps store it's only 80 at big w and jb :)
We have high poly models and ray traced lighting and reflections but it seems like AI in video games has stayed at the same level since the late 2000s
