I have no idea why this video is doing so well. Maybe I should start a new channel reviewing toys for the "ladies". Anyway, thanks for the kind words and engagement.
A few years ago when hascrap lost its mind when the has-slab crap fundraiser, rancor, which was not such a bad idea, this came out and I thought it was ludicrous. Wtf why didn't hascrap do this in 1/12 ? Then they would have had something. They would have been ahead of the pack 😂❤
Yeah TB League in conjunction with Phicen, is why we have these real-like figures. I am illustrator, so I bought a 12 inch Phicen for reference. It's pretty cool for what it is, albeit a bit exaggerated, so it isn't as accurate if you were to copy it directly. It has helped with some perspective shots. I have that Vampirella as well. Mine hasn't ripped yet, but I just have her standing straight. I also got the Cerebus, anime figure who uses pretty much the same body, just no musculature and...well...more endowed than is reasonable. That figure came with a powder that is supposed to keep the latex from corroding. But yeah, my biggest complaint with these figures are the hands and feet. They don't stay attached well and when they do, they're so loose that the figure just falls over.
This move from Hasbro was absolutely bizarre... If they went with soft goods, like mezco, or even hot toys, I reckon they would have been received better.
Nice review Angelo. Thanks.👍 I like how that Luke looks, the details and painting. But seems like (what a friend of mine calls) "satellite line", figures that don't match with any collection you may have and only a couple are released... But collecting is that, you may have statues, articulated, mixed franchises, different scales, who cares as long as you enjoy what you have? Anyway. This silicon bodies have a good point (that Vampirella ❤) and in my opinion they could be the future toys, because they hide articulation points, BUT not yet they have the good matherials or the good technology to achieve success, though they are in the way... Maybe one day, a brand that mixes silicon body mixed with soft goods, who knows, maybe someday we have a line that is really well done in every way, feels good and can endure the time. (Silicon may degenerate with certain temperatures or the oil in our hans when we manipulste, like some paints do). Just my thoughts on that. Oh, yes, an alternate head and hand damaged Luke would've been awesome. (I want to see that Vader, just curious). I like the design of the box too. Cheers man! 🍻
I almost bought the HyperReal Vader few years ago when it was on sale. I didn’t mind the size because I was just going to have him posed by himself. Decided not to get it because of other figs I wanted more. That stuff isn’t TRUE SILICON because the good stuff lasts thru so many punishing puss poundings. 😅
go find any rubber toy from the 80s or 90s. Most are gone or deteriated to the point of not even being able to move. Silicon/rubber just doesn't hold up over time.
I had a Rob Van Dam like this about 20 years ago or so. It made more sense than Luke because he only wears the singlet which leaves most of his torso exposed (not unlike Vampi). But that being said,it never felt “good” and it quickly got weird and sticky.
@@Toygains IIRC there was at least 1 whole wave,if not 2. Van Dam must have been my favorite out of them,or at least out of the guys my local Kmart had in stock. I don’t remember who else there was since obviously I never wanted to buy the rest after I had the first one. The chest and arms were like this Luke, from the waist down it was a typical Jakks Pacific figure of the time. I -think- the head was rubber but I hardly remember the thing.

I'm confused as to why the clothing is silicone lol great accessories I wish the black series figures were a little bigger to pair with other things i think it should be a deluxe like you said great stuff as always brother
I got the Vader at ollies for like 30 at least over a year ago. He decent, big as hell and doesn't go with anything 😂 but you pretty much described how I felt. It is freaking weird man..I should go check on him make sure he hasn't evaporated on my shelf
Great video Gains. I have this Luke. I don’t fuck with him that often. I always wanted that Vamperela but now I’m glad I didn’t get her. She was expensive for her to fall apart like that. Thanks for sharing and have a good day sir.
It depends on the type of silicone used how long it will last. I had the vader hyperreal. I got it on sale from amazon very cheap. It was pretty good as the silicone looked ok for vader but not for luke. Not for clothing. The likes are easier to find and cheaper because almost no one bought them. I sold my vader because of the scale. It's too big (my wife says this alot😎) for star wars black series and too small for hot toys. I got it sold on Ebay really quick.
@Toygains yeah vader was definitely the popular one and the only one that kinda worked. But luke nor having soft goods was such a dumb move. When the prototype pics were out we assumed it was soft goods but once it was confirmed it was all silicone the interst plummeted. And now vader has gone up on value. I'm sure luke probably will too eventually.
I never understood all the hate for these figures. I have both Luke and Darth and I freaking love them. I mean whats not to like. The sculpts are brilliant and the articulation is completely hidden. I would have loved to get a ROTJ Luke done in this style. Anyway I've taken some great pix of Darth and Luke. I keep them in thier boxes because I am worried about them collecting dust over time and what that would do to them. I havent had them back out since I put them away years ago. But I had zero problems with them. I really enjoy them. To each their own I guess?
@@kyleholder3785 I only have plastic ones in there. My "nice" ones are inside. Besides that though. Eventually they will, unless you have them in a completely static pose.
I saw that luke at a comic/toy/nerd store I go to a while bake …didn’t know what it was that’s………interesting but yeah experiments shouldn’t be should to “us” with out more testing and common sense
Don’t they catch dust more often if they aren’t powdered? Use Talcum or a alternative and brush your figure with it. Silicone bodies aren’t bad, but on 1/12 scale I wouldn’t see a use for them. Personally even in 1/6 scale, i’d still rather have plastic bodies. Silicone bodies to me only work if it’s a female character who wears something tight. With joints they tend to bite the fabric. Also 1/12 hair looks awful. Im glad Executive Replica’s own Vampirella is leagues better than their collab with TB League. Also why did Hasbro make Luke’s outfit out of silicone? Thats such a dumb move, why is it not fabric?
Creepy... like pulling back a little foreskin every time you swap hands 😅 Btw your head and Walkens head looks dope af on mcfarlane warhammer figures. I wanted to send the pics to you but didn't know how. So, I sent them to Jerk instead.
It failed because hasbro themselves arent really capable of providing a product that could compete with say a hot toys. They should leave the high end stuff to their collaborators like threezero
I remember this sub-line of the Black Series, I even thought of getting this guy awhile back. I think he was 30 on eBay but I passed. Hasbro is still doing these kinda experimental offshoots, the current one is the holocomm collection figures. Hard pass 😅
Great video Gains.. yeah I stay away from figures made of silicon. I had a Yoda like that and his eyelids ripped and he was looking at you right through his decaying eyelids.. 😂 freaky
Hasbro sucks, that’s the problem. That said silicone figures can be amazing. Just not the full body. But this is just a bad execution. The fact that it’s all silicone is just dumb on the companies part. Personally, I feel that almost all of the Black series has gone to crap, which is surprising since the Hot Toys and Sideshow are pretty much holding the quality standard. Like you said look at your competition, it's not hard. The version the did of Luke hanging upside-down from the weather vein is incredible. If that had been 1/4 scale with a silicone head would been even better.
I have no idea why this video is doing so well. Maybe I should start a new channel reviewing toys for the "ladies". Anyway, thanks for the kind words and engagement.
