I believe you're only supposed to use the secondary if you have hot rocks specifically to remove them. Of course more filters always comes at a cost. I suspect the smaller coil size is taking a smaller soil sample so it's causing issues by being too close to the wire. I wonder if you could trick it by manually re=setting the primary ground balance lower (more sensitive) to compensate for the secondary being higher?
I think you are probably correct in your logic. It was just an odd observation & doesn't seem to carry over to the larger coil. I would not be surprised if Nokta made some further refinements to bE. It is an almost unique tool in todays market.
