- "The South got something to say.” Andre 3000 delivered the greatest rebuttal of an acceptance speech after he and Big Boi were boo’d for winning Best New Artist at the 1995 Source Awards. In the midst of an ongoing east coast, west coast rap beef, ATL stood up to be heard. And they haven’t been quiet ever since. #MakingBET #OutKast

“The south got something to say” and has been saying something ever since. Outkast 🐐🐐
THAT part!!!
All that hating they did at the Source Awards and they are the still 2 of the only 5 rappers to have a DIAMOND selling album in their catalogue
HELLO!🙌🏾💯
Disguard please
who are the other ones? i guess eminem and jay but who else?
@@mstar6 not Jay. Only Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, mc Hammer, & Outkast makes 5
@@MannysMillennialMouth oh wow, wouldnt have guessed that
Without a doubt Andre 3000 and Big Boi are the best hip hop duo of all time.
I would buy it for sure.
🥴🥴they 2nd I’m more 8 ball mjg Nah I’m just playing I was just a fan of them more
@Jordan Kimo Jada and styles UGK
@Jordan Kimo 2 live Crew and 8ball and Mjg 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!
RUN-DMC is the greatest duo of all time!
I’m from NY and when OutKast first came out I liked them, that booing was BS
Same here that southernplayalisticaddilacmuzik was a classic 4 1/2 mic 🎤 in the source magazine
@2:25
Why they played Boot camp click??? 🤣
Someone fucked up with this editing, but honestly I would choose heltah skeletal, OGC, smiff n Wesson and Buckshot over OutKast 💯
Are y’all dumb . It don’t get no better than OUTKAST 🗣🗣 . They didn’t wanna acknowledge that 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 . ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽🖤
True
yeah but they were new at at the time 95 so its easy to say how great outkast is today but niggas were caught in the 2pac vs biggie storm then and the south was invisible at the time .
2pac wanted to work with OutKast while he was still alive
Rap and hip hop from the south is a whole other vibe and sound. OutKast, Goodie Mob, UGK, Scarface 💯 Damn, those were the days!
Right? I wore out many a cd replaying it over and over

Str8 factz the south was slept on for year's but Kast changed the game💯
I was in the bed looking at it in rhe summer of 95 in Nashville because the source awards came on about 11 or 12 o'clock at night. When Dre said that me and my brother were like Yeeeeahhh! (Im my pre Lil Jon voice). 3000 didnt say "ATL got somthing to say" or "Georgia got something to say". No...he said "the SOUTH got something to say and our Southern pride went through the roof! Back then it wasn't cool to be country especially from our Northern family members and friends!
Andre made it proud to be from the South!!!! Bama boi here

Outkast will forever be a part of my childhood! I still listen to the Dungeon Family 💖

3000 was ready for all the smoke 💨 and ya betta believe the DF had his back 1000%. Proud moment for the south and happy to say I saw when it was aired. Still got it on vhs and some source magazines from that era. I will never forget the feeling of hip hop/rap music during the 93 to 96 era and on into the early 2000’s. Simply LEGENDARY!!!
did 3ooo become a munk
some people still don't understand how great they are. go listen to the 1st album please. Aquemini was great too....Dre such a gemini lol, we gon tell you the truth
@Marvin Bennett atliens was great as well, you can't go wrong
I'm from New Orleans and I was in the mid West as a kid the first time I heard southern playalistic cadillac funky music, changed my zone. Appreciated the whole vibe. It was me at the time. Chilling but ready.
The production with those 1st few albums to me had the best trunk busters in hip hop history..Outkast and Dungeon family legendary
I grew up in Decatur and I remember watching that source awards stayed up late, which I had an exam the next morning, Andrew 3000 saying them words 'the south got something to say' yep. It was like yesterday, afterwards the next day at school we talked about what suge knight and Andre 3000 said, that's what I remember. Atlien 4 life
The Source Awards was an ego fest. Bunch of self impressed main stream rappers. OutKast was one of the few good groups.
OutKast was great. Those other groups, however flawed, were good too.
Outkast and Wu-Tang
They were trippin' that year...the West got love for the South every since The Geto Boys...hell even the West was getting booed too.
True that’s just how them NY cats acted back then. Most of them closed minded and stubborn thinking music could only be one way because they created smh. The south had love for everybody music in hip hop but we always had our own thing. We are a creative species so it doesn’t matter where ya from it’s what you put out and if it sounds good it will be well received! I’m surprised our creative side has been lacking lately tho! Beware that African Latin music bout to become a major player. I’m Outkasted!
@@mporter123456 They were booing Death Row, OutKast, 69 Boyz and Bone Thugs that year...basically anyone who wasn't from NY got shitted on...it wasn't everyone that was booing...but majority of them was.
@@mporter123456 lol I jus got into a debate with a NY kat they be stuck in their ways he said outkast was wack and that mobb deep better lyrically he said outkast was only good at selling more records they still bitter lmao
@@thomasanderson468 Lol! Mob Deep Lol! Mobb Deep will probably say Outkast is better than them!
@@kpenn213 la and ny were already beefing since Tim dog and Dre day. The south low key dissed the west too in the same manner (2 live crew) but no one wants to talk about that
Outkast did open up the door for most of these artists today! #Salute
One of the greatest groups period!
I saw DF at House of Blues a couple years ago, the best show I've ever seen. Every one of them giving 110%, Cee-lo never left the stage, I fist bumped Sleepy. Only 3000 was missing. One of the greatest nights of my life, still have goosebumps
This is so true, Because when I was in high school I was listening to Outkast in 1996/1997. Atliens was insane to me and I was hooked ever since. I was listening to them too but they dismissed Outkast until later. Everybody tripped on me because they was on Biggie, Wutang, Onyx, etc. But Outkast was different.... Sound and feel!! Love

Outcast was one of the most versatile groups from the South
Tupac had love for the South and had goodie mob in his studio and partys

I don't know how anyone didn't listen to their first CD and not know instantly how dope they were. I'm from LA and Deathrow was my soundtrack to my youth but it didn't mean I couldn't see outkast as just as dope and gangsta as the dogg pound( at the time).
I had the score on repeat. I wasn’t feeling the back then and had to go back a decade later and figure out why. There were some northern sounds that didn’t agree with me initially like that first Ghost or 50’s first album and a few others.
Dogg pound honestly should get just as much praise as outkast. They’ve always been underrated for all they’ve done
@@eastwood1026 Their (Dogg Pound) first album in my opinion was classic. But they had inner turmoil amongst themselves and the record label. Outkast.... just kept coming and didn't show down.
@@kennyboudreaux1657 beef is part of the rap game and they were part of some of the most important feuds in history including the most important feud which was the east and west beef. Imo Dpg more talented than outkast cus daz could rap and produce whilst kurupt is arguably the most underrated rapper in hip hop history. Andre 3k never released a solo album and that’s where I feel everyone need to stop putting him so high amongst some of the other goats. As great as he is everyone including Dogg pound make dope solo albums (better than any solo album big boi put out) and so on. I respect outkast. They coo. I jus feel people overrate them too much given 3k never took the time to make a solo for us to analyze if he can carry himself for a whole album. You get me?
@@eastwood1026 Yeah! Though technically his love below and big boi's speakerboxxx were solo albums packaged as a group record. The Dogg Pounds east/ west beef weren't the beef's I meant. It was Kurupt vs. Snoop, Kurupt vs. Daz, Daz vs. Snoop friction and then all of them at some point vs Death Row records. Those things had an effect on their music. I didn't want to hear them beefing with each other. They were a band of brothers. That's like Method beefing with Raekwon and Raekwon vs. Ghostface killah. Part of what the dogg pound had was chemistry. And it got complicated with their personal and professional problems with each other. But I with you... they definitely are under rated.
Outkast is the god's of the south

Outkast had an impact you could only imagine for kids from the South
Being raised southern definitely doesn't seem to stifle your imagination. Northerners seem to stay stuck in a racist projections dream.😢
Every since then the south has ran hip hop music. From OutKast to the mid-late 90's when no limit and cash money really took off.
Hell yeah! Proud to be from da South!
Maaaaan!!! I got it on tape.. The 1995 The Souce Awards. Classic Material. The greatest words uttered in HIP HOP history.. "The south got sumthin to say"...
🔥🔥OUTKAST the truth
We were banging southern rap music heavy in Chicago during this time. Outkast, 3-6, Geto Boys.

Best of the BEST, OutKast has been my favorite since the mid-90's and still to this day.
And that aquemini album is an experience.Probally one of the top 20 albums front to back in any genre

Outkast is dope as were most of the early pioneers of Southern Hip-Hop. UGK, Geto Boys, Petey Pablo, Ludacris, TI, Killer Mike and so on.
The generation (Gucci Mane, Migos, DaBaby, Lil' baby, it goes on and on) that came after is a whole different story unfortunately.
Gucci a bridge between the old heads and the new wave
Migos, DaBaby, Lil Baby are different but still go hard and I am glad they reppin the South. We still got J Cole as well 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️

The South was slept on until OutKast woke everybody up in this moment.
I’m so confused, why did Smif and Wesson randomly play at 2:26?

I'm from BERMUDA, and I was in love with SOUTHER RAP (OutKast & Goodie Mob) more than anyone else. Even Heavy D, Kane, LL, and even them other brothers like DeLaSoul and TribeCalledQuest. Love real hip hop, but OutKast outshined them all. Southern Rap!
Big up to Young Bloodz and Nappy Roots too.
OUTKAST THE BEST TO EVER TO IT🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remember watching this, and if i’m not mistaken, it was in 1995 Source awards, this is also the same source awards when OutKast got onstage after winning multiple awards and pretty much put the “South” on map in the rap game by saying “The South got something to say” and they’re there to make money and ignore the beef between other artists that was going on.
Outcast, Dungeon Family, Goodie Mob the best!
Jesus is the way the truth and the life. God sent his only begotten Son so that you can have everlasting life. Place your faith in Jesus. Trust Jesus. Jesus saves.
God bless you.
New Jersey Drive Soundtrack......who actually stuck to the script of the movie in their song in that Soundtrack????? They said SOMETHING FOR THE SOUTH THEN💯💯💯
OutKast vs triple 6 Mafia LoL 😅😅😅 I kid I kid
Also if it wasn't for OutKast and laface records Atlanta wouldn't have developed into a movie studio powerhouse. New Yorkers that never visited Atlanta back then didn't understand how iconic Atlanta was in the 90s . We had black excellence living here from Halle Berry and David justice , Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, tlc , and roads exits named after Bobby Brown. Black mayor's , freaknik , 3 black universities. Plus with kriss kross ,abc Atlanta was unmatched .
She is right though. If OutKast dropped a album right now it would be #1 ,even after a 17 year break.
SouthernPlayalistiCaddilacMuzik is one my favorite albums ever.
Now Outkast & Three 6 mafia are the most influential group ever in hiphop. Every rapper now has that Outkast & Three 6 mafia influence in their music & thats a fact.
We heard ya, you can't have one without the other. Outkast is Goodie Mob and Goodie Mob is Outkast and Organize Noise,ATL 💯💯
The arrogance of Some New York Artists is Mindblowing.. The group that won ( Outkast) was supposed to win.. New York dos not have a Monopoly on Hip Hop or Rap.. PEROID!!!
New York has a whole is like that about everything lol. U see how they r about their food? 😂
Going to school down there during the 90s you had kids reppin NYC and kids reppin Cali. The kids who had ties to NYC or Cali thought they were always better. Lmao...thank god for Prime Time, The Braves, Dominique Wilkins, and Outkast. They put Atlanta on the map. 😂
The South produced & still does some of the best rap groups & stars in the history of hip-hop.. 2LiveCrew were there at the origins of Southern Hip-hop & bass in yr face came out of Florida...that's east coast to ..People these days with all the technology & YT don't have a clue what many up coming artists went through ..Outcast themselves are trailblazers that swooped in & saved the day..Remember, the sun rises in the East , the home of hip-hop Here's a rose for the W coast You're toast ,which I like with my grits & liver pudding 🤣
