@@NearMintCondition Hey Omar will the Funcom acquisition change anything about the savage Conan omnibuses? will we still get future volumes and re prints?

The inks for that Rudy Nebres issue are super light in the original issue as well. He did one or two later when Roy wasn't doing the writing, and they are also light. Most of my singles from this series are from my uncle's collection and they aren't in great shape, so I am all in for this whole series, hopefully they continue these for the issues written by Fleisher, Christopher Priest (then James Owsley) and Chuck Dixon.

Love all the Conan material. The original SSOC covers had a bit more pop. The colors seem a bit muted in these reprints...probably because they were on a glossy type paper previously. But thats a minor thing. Super grateful these have been reprinted in this format.
I can tell you that Panini Spain went about this the right way, and simply published it using a wider format HC to accomodate for the magazine format, instead of reducing the pages to fit them into the standard size of their omnibus. As easy as that. And Marvel could and SHOULD have done the same thing.
I collected all of these Savage Sword comics when I was a little kid still in my diapers, and I would read them. They came in an oversized comic book which is unlike anything that I have seen in modern times. I had about thirty issues.
Marvel has a good thing going. Bringing us the Kull, Conan omnis. Your channel is super helpful. Thanks to that I purchased the kull the savage omni. I would think that is very unlikely, same thing as Shang Chi or all the DC golden age omnis. It just feels like unless the sales were super stellar (which i doubt they were) then there’s no motivation to print them. A test of this will be later this year when the Shang Chi movie will come out, but will Marvel really reprint 5 omnis? It took them ages to sell and some are still available 3 years later 🤷🏼♂️
@@FrankCastlesConscience it’s a little different because with Conan it is a timed license. They won’t have the printing rights forever unless they pay once again. How much more stellar can we get than a complete sell out of vol 1 very quickly haha. Either way I’m hopeful especially because I can’t afford eBay prices for this one.

I went ahead and bought this one, since in it there is an important chapter in the life of Conan. I'm not a Conan completist (my other Conan omnis are the Marvel years Vol. 2-4), so skipping around doesn't bother me. With Thomas/Buscema, I can't go wrong. Thanks for the good review. You made another sale for Marvel.
It looks great and I’m sure the stories are good too but I passed on all the conan omni’s bc it wasn’t a rabbit hole that I had the space to allow myself to go down in.
Do you know if Marvel will ever reprint vol 1? I mostly collect DC omnis and I know how impossible they are with reprinting, so I don't know how Marvel is with their reprinting habits. I don't want to start collecting the later volumes if vol 1 will never come back on the store shelves. Also can Savage Sword be enjoyed without reading the first volume?
I think that will be my last volume of SSC. I read some material from the next writer (forgot his name) but I didn’t like it so much. Great video as always.
In hindsight, I regret my decision to pass on this line and collect the color comics line instead. Oh well. Maybe the sold out volumes will be reprinted? Then I can collect the later volumes such as this one.
Not yet. But if Marvel doesn't ever reprint Vol 1 you can get the Spanish version from bookdepository.com. Search for 'La Espada Salvaje de Conan' from Panini Comics. They are thinner hardcovers around 250 pages each, so you would need to get the first 3 volumes to cover the out of print American volume.
@@matthewhorton9260 What do we do? I bought mine online at discount so I don't know if I can return it, it's not quite enough to totally pissed but I'm not happy about it and if I found a place where I could exchange my copy I would.
@@lancem6363 I plan to return mine where I bought it (instocktrades) and ask for a replacement. I wonder if the whole batch will be the same, but they need to know that they might have a bad batch so they can work with the distributor to maybe fix this for us. I really hope that the thousands of others who bought this volume will check for missing and duplicate pages. I heard about a different misprint on this volume as well. Same thing as ours but after page 360. My copy does not have that problem, just the one after page 40. So there's possibly two or more bad batches out there. Marvel needs to know, so the distributor needs to know, so the store needs to know. I think it's our only recourse, but I am not keeping an omnibus that I know has a flaw like this. Now I'm paranoid that lots of others I've bought have similar problems.
PLEASE HELP!!! Hey guys just started my comic omnibus collection looking to buy lots of them and this is my start to my comic books is there any order i should read the omnibus in or is there no real order cant really find any info on it. Hope someone replies
Hey Carl, You should be alright starting anywhere with these. The colour series is chronological (at least until the end of the current omni), but Savage Sword is fairly random self-contained episodes in Conan's life, often adaptations of the original Robert E Howard stories (plus the now unavailable stories by L Sprague de Camp and others). There are some multi-issue stories but they should each be in the same omnibus. Roy Thomas' introductions etc will also help a lot if anything doesn't make sense.
@@Carl-mj3vl Wow the Uncanny Omar said my name...touched by greatness!! Interesting call re. starting with Busiek. I'm going the other route with the 70s stuff (inc. the prose PBs) but also checking out the Busiek Epics. If that's a UK football team in your avatar I'd go with Forbidden Planet.

I will be interested to see who Buscema didnt like getting inked by. I think it was probably one of tge South American artists who I think made the Marvel black and white house style distinctive. For me, they made Buscema acceptable. I always found him a really boring artist without any style elements that I found appealing. Inkers like Alcala brought a dark moodiness and texture to Buscema's wirk. Same with Ernie Chan. His inking in the colour comics added a lot.
Brother this conan run is dope. Too bad there not in color then I can appreciate the mature content. Maybe they will color them like Image is doing with Walking Dead.

If I were to buy only one Savage Sword Omni, which one should I buy and why?
Volume 1. Great stories that set up this awesome series.
Fair enough, because with all the REH books, you'll need another book shelf.
@@NearMintCondition exactly and the wife is already complaining about the 5 almost full shelves i already have
What a beautiful book. Thanks for the vids as always, Omar! :) Algorithm gang!
My pleasure!

I'm hoping for a stealth reprint of a volume 1.
@@NearMintCondition Thank you. Now I don't know if I should buy volume 2 through 4.
I think that will be my last volume of SSC. I read some material from the next writer (forgot his name) but I didn’t like it so much. Great video as always.
The Bruce Jones run? I'm willing to try it.
Ugh after watching this I just bought this and the 2nd omnibus...it seems the 1st is out of print and the 3rd is soon to be.
The art is amazing
The art is truly amazing.
Gee I want to get into these but there will be so many. No funds nor space for almost fifty books plus the dark horse years.
Comixology it is.
Comixology brother. There will be so many of these.
In hindsight, I regret my decision to pass on this line and collect the color comics line instead. Oh well. Maybe the sold out volumes will be reprinted? Then I can collect the later volumes such as this one.
I think they will be one day.
The black and white stories are far superior. No comparision.
Can you get this in digital or paper back? I'll never be able to afford this in HC Omni format :)
It's not on digital yet?
Can you please do tell office of suspense
Which Tales of Suspense books do you want?
For some weird reason I always associate that spiky helmet Conan is wearing with Cerebus now...
lol being that he started off that way, I can see that.
Could you please David if they will put Conan on the marvel unlimited app
Is it not there already?
No
You think they are going to reprint Star wars Original Marvel years omni 1-3 soon?
Those didn;t sell well, so it might be a while.
Any news of a vol.1 reprint?
Not yet.
Mine has a misprint on issue 45, it repeats pages and is missing about 15 of them, anybody else have this issue? And if so, what to do?
I'm sorry, I haven't heard of that particular misprint.
Mine has the same misprint

Where’s the overview for vol 6??
With Savage as Alex stated these can be read any where any time. But there is a great jumping on point with Conan by Busiek.
Hey thank you guys for the help. What sotes do you use for buy comic books atm i just use amazon is there any other good sites?
@@Carl-mj3vl Wow the Uncanny Omar said my name...touched by greatness!! Interesting call re. starting with Busiek. I'm going the other route with the 70s stuff (inc. the prose PBs) but also checking out the Busiek Epics. If that's a UK football team in your avatar I'd go with Forbidden Planet.
Yo Omar! You know you don't need that Savage Sword Vol 1. Name your price my friend.;)
Hahaha I'm trying to see about getting a stealth reprint. Working on it.
I have an extra copy :)
@@andrewcrenshaw8093 How much u want?
@@johnv9214 Dude I fucked up. I have an extra copy of the regular Conan line. Sorry about that... Double checked yesterday. Didn't mean to get your hopes up.
@@NearMintCondition That would be awesome.
How many pages are in a single issue of conan cause 16 issues in a thousand page book doesnt make sense to me
About 60
60 to 80 since these were big books.
Hi
Was so hyped when I saw this
hope you enjoy it, brother.
omar glad to see you live saturday i surprise you lol you neen checking on new batwoman tv series? former actor batwoman made action movie release last summer was good the name is the Doorman check it out.
I havent other than the first few episodes with Ruby. Now they casted a new Batwoman.
Super
Oh yeah!
I will let you read the intros. I was just surprised as I thought the team was amazing.
Hermano don't you be dropping that "13 Volumes" hope on me unless you and David are gonna follow through
Hope always springs eternal, my brother.
Brother this conan run is dope. Too bad there not in color then I can appreciate the mature content. Maybe they will color them like Image is doing with Walking Dead.
Savage Sword will never be colored. It is made for black and white pencils and for mature audiences. Not for the kids.
@@rodrigosoares7126 neither is walking dead and there making those in color. Color adds so much details that regular black and white cant do.
@@Havok1718 It makes me said to read such comments because the splendor found in Savage Sword of Conan can only be appreciated in black and white. But I feel you cannot comprehend that.
@@rodrigosoares7126 its personal preference really but when I saw the side by side of the walking dead b+w to the color. The color one showed the time of day and zombies I didn't see before.
I dont know if they would color the whole run. The Hour of the Dragon was colored in the trades though.
235 issues of Savage Sword.
Thank you.
Omar, are you familiar with Folio Society? I've been dying to see a complete Conan The Barbarian by Robert E. Howard Folio edition.
I emailed them and dm'd them on Twitter requesting a Conan book and not to skimp on the violence and nudity. They said they would pass it on to their editorial team.
If that sounds like something you'd want, please contact them and request it so they know there's a big demand for it. Appreciate ya, brother.
Algorithm gang:)
YESSir.
Are the issues standalone issues? Or arcs?
I love the apparent toxic masculinity of this series haha
I can’t get enough of the “toxic masculinity” lol I’ve not heard that about SSoC. There are some arcs. Mainly in the King Size books and some great stand alone stories.
