Another handy thing is a Camelbak! For those who don't know, a Camelbak is basically a backpack full of water with a long straw so you can drink out of it with it still on your back. That way, if you're worried about water intake, you can wear one and drink as you're still fursuiting. You can wear it outside the suit and snake the straw under the head, or if your suit is big enough you can try to wear it under the suit. (They're usually fairly compact, and they opt for being longer and more spread out over the back instead of sticking out like most backpacks so it is possible i'm sure.) The extra weight isn't great, but it's worth it to not have to go through the hassle of taking your head and possibly even paws just to drink water.
I remember when I went to my first furmeet one of the doggo furs started to get a bit too hot and fell in the pool after passing out. The guy was okay but almost drowned and now has a phobia of drowning. Needless to say, please be careful with the heat exhaustion guys!

Something I would add is for new suiters to test out their new suit at home first, lets you test out the mannerisms you may want to use, and see what looks best, but also lets you get used to moving in one. You are putting on a show, and any good performance requires practice ^^
i went suiting for the first time yesterday!! it was 90° outside and went for 3 hours and did great :) took breaks when i needed it, stayed super hydrated, and had 3 other people with me without a suit :> my mom thought i’d get heatstroke but i knew what i was doing thanks to this video 😌
I needed this video! I'm getting a fursuit next year or 2022: have been saving up for well over a year! I've heard a lot of tips covered in this video before but it's great to have a refresh and hear a different way of saying the important stuff! Hopefully next year as well, my diabolical plans to raise money for charity at my local furry convention will be able to be executed n I also hope to maybe apply for a staff position! In the meantime, I write, draw, think, and do lots of other things! Heck, I'm spending the 2nd half of my high school years at vocational school starting August, should be able to get an Adobe certification by the end of it as I chose my career path to be art! In retrospect, my career path is a lot more sane then starting up a expensive new theme park with lots of rides!

you can also use big plastic storage bins to transport your suit, if your worried about squishing it. you can get them for really cheap too so it’s a good alternative if you can’t afford a larger suitcase!
I have a Dino mask and I’m planning to make a back to it out of foam sooo.. yeah. I will probably walk around my town every now and then with my friends while I have the mask on :3 This was helpful btw!
Went fursuiting to my local park today and.... got some kids screaming for me to stay... it was scary (young kids are very scary, so are teenage boys). Handled the situation okay though! Had some really nice interactions too, and this video really helped. Thanks skye :)
Getting heatstroke at a con, sucks. Cause the EMPs will cut your suit to get you if your in a full suit. This video was very helpful, I'm making a suit soon, so this was very helpful, thanks sky!
I can’t stand being in 80+ degree weather (Fahrenheit) in a shirt and shorts, idk how you manage it in a full fursuit!! I would be dying, even with all the precautions!!
You just have to be careful. My head was made of resin, so I put it at the bottom and packed her other parts in and around it. I used a hard suitcase for transport.
I have heat strokes very easily and tbh I can’t tell when I’m hot or about to have a heat stroke. (I have them a lot but they’ve never been severe because we deal with them quickly.) Another sign that appears before a heat stokes (may just be me) is that your breathing will slow or calm down a bit and your body will feel light.
Also, another thing. If you do happen to faint in you suit and your handler hasn’t taken you out, don’t think the paramedics won’t cut open your precious fur suit open to get you out and safe. Your well-being is more important than your suit so they will do anything to help, even if it means slicing your amazing suit. So be warned public suiters!
I will say for the heat stroke bit you have to be careful because putting to much cold things on the person will make them shiver to make them warm up so make sure they or you don’t start shivering

when i fursuited at school, it was a living hell... kids pulled off my head and took it down a slide. They also pulled my tail so it felt like my tummy was gonna get cutted off..
Hear exhaustion is not joke it absolutely sucks and it's so bad. One time I had fallen asleep on the beach and woke up extremely hot with no sweat and feeling VERY tired, I couldn't move and breathing was hard. I slipped in and out of consciousness until some good stranger threw me in the lake. They stuck around and helped me recover enough until I could get back to my family.

something to do before heading out. if your handler is roughly your size, have them put on the suit, so they can see what you can see, and how much mobilitiy that you have or just the head. if you have wings or long tail, horns, best to familialize yourself with your new body dimensions. don't want to end up doing a tail whip to a kid. Another thing For photos, keep all paws visible, because some karen out there will try to say you touched their spawn wrong. stay in well lit areas. oh something you should get for your fursuit is a badge "if found alone, please call (insert number)", so that if you do get seperated from your handler, you have a way to contact them if you don't have your phone.

Ive fursuited in the scorching hot desert at a zoo , it was 107 degrees i almost got heat stroke and was ready to pass out . The place was like a maze and me being to dumb to take my suit off stayed in it for another 2 hours. For the rest of the day i did nothing but depressingly lay in our pool as a means to cool down, heat exaustion is not worth it people
Oh and make sure you get a good handler, my brother decided itd be a great idea to stomp repeatedly on my tail and damage it. I have currently had to strip it of fur, sew up holes bigger than my head and resew the elastic and ives spent way too long doing it.
for people with only a head tail hand and feet paws with armsleeves should we still be carefull to take a break every so often or is that mostly for people with full suits me and my friend are gonna start saving our money for 2 fursuits without legs or torsos parts. thank you!

Gatorade can help as well, as you'll lose Electrolytes, so you don't a medic. Use both! 0:59

i dont think ill ever go outing in public unless its to a con bc i have severe trauma related to strangers taking photos of me without my consent and since ppl already dont think of furries as human, you know. its hard to remember theres a person under there who may be uncomfortable with you recording from afar to show your dudebro furry hunter homies
