Thanks for this video. I lost my 1-3 speed in my 95 Ranger again. I replaced My Resistor last year 2020 for the same reason. So this time 2021 i am going to replace the original blower motor as well. I watched an A1 auto part RUclips saying that a blower motor going bad can cause your resistor to burn out quickly. A newly replaced Resistor should last more than a year. Thanks for this video.
Mine blows sometimes sometimes it doesn't. Only air comes out while driving, if AC or heat is on it blows that degree while driving. What could it be? I thought the resistor, but not sure now. And definitely don't want to get screwed when I take it to be looked at
Is there evidence of oxidization on the year old part? Do you think using a little gasket sealer on the flat part of the new resistor would help extend the life?
tangobravo I don’t remember any oxidation, but it did look a bit aged for being in there for a year. But some sealer might help keep the unwanted elements out...the less exposure I’m sure would help pro-long life, but it might be a bit tricky to install without making a mess lol.
FYI Ford ignition switches are crap too. I would suggest you take all the extra weight of all those keys off it. Get a small carabiner to put on a belt loop to hold them. Just a suggestion.
I agree they aren’t the best…..but I’ve never had an issue. Never had an issue in the 4 years I owned the ‘97 in the video, and I have a ‘96 now I picked up after the one in the video was unfortunately hit and totaled….and no issues in the 4 years I’ve now owned my ‘96.
@@TheOriginalBeeCee I’m glad you haven’t had any problems. I pray that that continues but a bad ignition switch can lead to starter problems, fuel pump and other ignition problems that mechs usually only treat the symptoms making the problem recur sooner than later. To me I would rather not chance it. But to each his own. Hope you have continued success, blessings to you.
If you're blowing resistors you probably have a blower motor that's going bad or some other issue putting a strain on it. that's what the resistor is there for to blow and go bad so you don't burn everything else up. Has nothing to do whether you replace it with OEM part or duralast or carquest or whatever. They are supposedly made to last the lifetime of the vehicle..lol..My 08 had the same problem and I finally replaced the blower motor and haven't had a problem since and the air blows five times harder out of all the vents now as well.
I agree that you could potentially have something else going on, and that is definitely something to keep in mind.....if you keep blowing them. But in this case, this was just one premature failure....and I’m pretty confident it was just a defective/faulty resistor, which is also most definitely a possibility as well. This truck was totaled unfortunately (was hit hard and frame twisted), but the Duralast resistor that was installed in this video lasted over a year until the truck was laid to rest. As I outlined in the video, I was simply just mentioning it being an OE Motorcraft part because people love to blame aftermarket parts for failures, and think OE parts can do no wrong. And as I also mentioned, sometimes I even have that mindset. But I merely just was mentioning it to show it was actually an OE part to rule out that “sHoUlD hAvE gOtTeN a MoToRcRaFt” comment, & show that OE parts can fail as well.
Silvano Lopez so when the A/C is on, the compressor clutch isn’t engaging? Have you checked that while its running to 100 percent determine the compressor isn’t functioning?
Mine just quit on my 2011 Ranger and I suspected this was the problem. My 1985 Ranger used the exact same setup, a couple of wirewound power resistors mounted in the duct so air can blow over them and cool them off because they do produce heat because of the wasted electricity
Thank you very much! Four years later your video is helping another DIY selfer"s save a couple of bucks.
Great to hear! Thank you for the comment!
Thank you for the video! My partners Ranger has the exact same issue and it’s great having a tutorial like this to work with.
Appreciate the comment!!
I followed this video. Fixed my Ranger blower speed control perfectly. Part cost about 15$. Azone
Awesome 🙌🙏

thanks, I found this video while looking for a fan switch. It’s definitely the resistor and not the fan switch like I guessed
Glad you got it figured out 🙏
good video..how to change ac filter
Excellent video i just repair my mazda b2300 a/c today and just $19.99 for the resistance thank you very much
🙏🙏🙏
Just the video I needed thank you
Glad it helped 🙏
I have question my heater relay its not working how to do sir
Is there a relay in here.fan keeps working with ignition off.all speeds.turns off if i turn dial off to off side

Sounds like resistorr
Can you tell if the resistor is the problem by looking at it?
Generally, no. But I’m sure you can in specific instances (if it burnt up for some reason, etc.)
What size bolts were they

Is that has the same Blower Motor Resistor as my Mazda B2500 truck?
Yessir it should!
Thanks bro..helped me out a lot.
Glad it helped bro….I appreciate the comment 🙏
so if I just don't have air blowing is it a different issue? I have hot and cold air but it's just not blowing
Krystal T hey! Does it not blow on any of the 4 settings?
@@TheOriginalBeeCee my 11’ ranger isnt blowing on any settings. What does that mean?
@@TheBedSideWarrior most likely the blower motor itself
mine turns off and turns on when I'm driving it will be the problem of the blower resistor
Very helpful. I have the same problem on my 2011 Ranger.
🙏🙏
HI, I am having a similar issue with my 2010 Ranger. Is the setup similar to the one in the video? Also, how much was your resistor? Thanks.

Omg 😲iam true with my Ford ranger thanks
Ever consider changing the resistor? Determine what resistor is it, solder in a new one even less.
There like $12 bucks man lol
I have 95 ranger is same motor this video. Went start a/c no working compressor you have idea why not

Blower motors and resistors should be changed in pairs.
