Crazy theory. The logo and the item in trailer, aka time travel devise is made from Dark Samus's Corpse. Just like Samus and Ridley, dark samus lost all her phazon when planet phaz exploded. Without phazon Dark Samus was reduced to Metroid Prime in the physical form of Samus still "dead" though. Dark Samus can open dark and light portals on her own in Prime 2. She give us the Dark beam. A purple beam that "freezes" enemies and creates a black hole with missles. Only Samus can use the time travel espec of this divice made from Dark Samus's corpse beacuse they share DNA. I bet at end of game, Sylux will despritly attempt to use the device only to be devoured by it reviving Dark Samus.(Samus was immune as she shares dna with dark samus(metriod DNA too if fusion counts)
The problem is that she died on Phaaze, which the Federation abandoned in deep space. The only way to get there was via wormhole, but that method was lost with the leviathans’ extinction. There’s no way they had time to go back to pick up Dark Samus’ body.
Dk remaster taking Jan spot. Looks like Prime 4 is the big March game. This puts Switch Successor in the June to Oct window of release. They will have a gap between prime 4 and successor cause Mario is launching successor.
I wouldn’t rule out this going a Switch 2 launch title so quickly, as they could easily be developing it for both systems, the way games like Twilight Princess have been developed for both existing hardware and current at the same time.
I think the cosmic calendar is actually pretty simple, the prime games take place between Metroid 2 and super the way to explain the dates would be Metroid prime 4:2079 super metriod:2084 so the X in 20X9 can be any number, meaning you could technically place any game in any decade you want but there is a pretty obvious canon to follow(especially compared to zelda) so the X is probably just there by the developers to not have to follow a strict timeline, this same system has been used in other games like mega man, etc.
Yes, the X can denote any decade. The only thing that makes sense in the storyline is if NEStroid and all the Prime games are in one decade (such as 2015-2025), and the games from Metroid 2/SR to Dread are in another decade. Samus has specific gunships in specific games. Metroids and X-parasites exist in only certain story arcs. The Zelda timeline has many Links and Zeldas over many ages. There is only one Samus in Metroid, and the games follow her missions. It is not that complicated.
I have been seeing many videos on black holes recently about how scientists say they minipulate time through extreme gravity and are portals to new creation. Maybe this has something to do with the logo and time theory for the game
Great vid! I was just thinking about the missile selection in the bottom left corner What if missile upgrades you no doubt get are mapped to “press the missile button while holding a fully charged beam to do a super missile” and “hold the missile button and release to lock onto and shoot multiple targets at once” And then the other selections are different abilities like grapple and dash with their own upgrades to unlock Maybe not but it would be neat
If this game is set in 20X9, and Samus Returns, Super Metroid and Other M are still in 20X7 (Since they all directly sequence into each other), then this has to be between Other M and Fusion. But there is one character that can contradict this: Ridley.
If this game is really set between OtherM and Fusion it would strengthen the Ian-Sylux theory. It is also the only other place in time where the Prime subseries can be placed without messing with the main games aside from between Zero Mission and Samus Returns. Anyway, Ridley's eventual presence doesn't really mess with this placement since Ridley in Fusion is the X version of the OtherM clone's corpse so they can still come up with a new way for Ridley to come back between that time.
I think the green light on the cannon isn't a random detail. You can see all her lights becoming purple in the final shot, so maybe the color is an indicator of something and the led on the cannon is there on purpose.
6:10 I have a theory about this radar aswell. There are different sections of it, with the third only covering the back and part of the sides. This makes me think that each section operates on different distance rules, with the first section being close enemies, the second section covering a greater distancez despite how small it is, with the third covering the last, and largest bit of distance. Something like, 0m-5m, 5m-25m, and then 25m-75m or something like that. It would also explain why the 3rd only half covers the side, and mostly your back, because you are able to see forward.
The term year on earth refers to a rotation of the earth around to the sun. There's no reason for the Metroid universe to be contained to our arbitrary definitions.
Honestly i hope that they bring us phazon back in some way. Maybe sylux teamed up with the space pirates to recreate phazon? Or maybe if this is indeed tallon 4 in the past, then maybe the space pirates/sylux wanna use the phazon of the leviathan? Im sure whatever they do this game will be peak anyways, but i just love the whole phazon aspect and it would fit prime 4 even better in the prime series in my opinion
Now I understand why it took so long. Was with another studio for like 2 years or so, then given to Retro where I suppose they had to build a new graphics engine, storyline, assets, music, effects, Covid, and absolutely no crunch time (because happy employees lead to quality games at Nintendo). Oh man was it worth the wait. 😁. Feels like it was just announced for the first time yesterday. 😂
Did you notice that during the scan visor sequence, the scannable items are green? This colors is usually used to mean the items had already been scanned before, which leads to a theory about this. For me, it's either a new color for this that had never been scanned before and the "already scanned items" will probably have another color, OR that when you re-scan a green item, you the scan isn't immediate and you have to wait for it to finish again.
Yeah, this is deffo running on the current switch, you can notice the LODs when Samus' gunship comes down. Dunno how they managed to make this or Prime Remastered look this good.
The aircraft you showed in 8:40 aren't as much prototypes as they are cameos, at least that's how I'd view it. Way way back in the day when the comics were just coming out for metroid, there was a scene of samus' ship with an eerily similar look to what you showed from the trailer. More modern than futuristic, and less space-like but more human spacecraft-y. But hey, maybe I'm just spitballing.
Honestly, coming from Super Metroid as my favorite game of all time...the franchise needs a bit of an overhaul. Every single metroid game starts with a somewhat powered Samus to only get severely damaged and revert to a basic Power Suit and beam cannon. Then you proceed thru Zebes/Tallon IV/Aether/ZDR etc etc etc to "find" power ups like missile, super missile, barrier suit aka Varia suit (Varia is basically barrier just with a Japanese accent), Gravity Suit and everything else in between. What I would love is a game where Samus is fully powered, in a new environment that at her 100% proves to be extremely difficult that she has to find upgrades to further enhance her fully power/weaponized suit. Oh and I pray that MP4B has a stellar music soundtrack....one that we die hard Metroid fans would love for years to come....unlike the lackluster music in Dread (an awesome game nonetheless). Music like Green Brinstar, Red Brinstar, Norfair/Magmoor Caverns are among my favorite tracks throughout the Metroid Franchise
@@_orangeonion The Accel Charge power ups from OtherM basically made all chargeable weapons charge faster (Charge Beam, Super Missiles, Power Bomb). They could bring it back from Prime 4 while also adding an additional boost in power. Otherwise they could bring back the Diffusion Beam as an upgrade yeah, I loved it in OtherM and Dread.
SR and SM taking place in 20X7 was never canon or confirmed by Nintendo, therefore using 20X5 as the official date for Metroid we could assume a year takes place between each *mainline* game: 1. Metroid 20X5 2. Metroid Prime 20X6 3. Echoes 20X7 4. Corruption 20X8 5. Beyond 20X9 Makes sense considering Samus has the same gunship from Corruption.
Competition for GOTY is already looking fierce in 2025... I firmly believe MP4 will be a nominee but with GTA6, Doom Dark Ages, Fable 4, Silksong (yes its happening), Persona 6 (also def happening) and potentially a new 3D Mario it'll be a tough fight to stand above everything else the industry is cooking.
If the game is really set two years after Super Metroid then it means that Beyond is set after OtherM as well, making the Sylux is Ian theory more believable.
At 7:46 and 14:49 when Samus fires a missile, only the top of the two ammo counters decreases in units. The top goes from 30 to 29 and the bottom stays at 30. Is the bottom Super Missiles perhaps?
It might be wishful thinking but I hope we get a multiplayer mode like prime 2. Or was it 1? I can’t remember. Anyway, with the radar having blips for friendlies, I could see a multiplayer battle mode where you can have teams. Would be neat.
Wait all the other lights on her body are the same pink, and if it's a black hole event horizon, then usining the gravity feature would have been necessary
Shouldn't have rushed the last video. Haha, ship isn't identical. I love the change but just cause you see it on the outside doesn't mean you have to see it from the inside. Unless you can see her face though that part, I can't remember if you can. You can see some indentations and those lines indicating that that part is still there from the inside view. 14:35 Couldn't hear it all. I am disappointed if that is how small the charge shot is gonna look. Don't think Sylux is a robot but people often call robots he or she. I do.
Regarding the timeline the biggest question is whether it’s before or after Fusion. After Fusion she has Metroid DNA and is weak to ice, which feels like it could be important.
Alrhough i would be ok with just one big world akin to MP1 & MP2, i really want to see Retro give us another game akin to MP3 but we handle lift off, flying thru the galaxy and landing on the next world. Hell, even flying from landing site to landing site. Add some air combat to spice up the flying, GF and SP Battleships that can be boarded, and sometimes GF sends distress signals for help on a raid they are doing or being done on them, a nice little distraction when flying from planet to planet. Could the old Switch handle such a task? No clue! I just know Nintendo has the Star Fox team that could help with the arial combat and that everyone there are freaking wizards and can do what Bethesda couldn't. Also, how does the Switch handle No Man's Sky? Bc i think that coild give us somewhat off an answer.
remember this is the redo so much of the initial ideas and design likely changed in significant ways otherwise the development wouldn't have been handed back to Retro studios after they pitched their vision for the sequel.
While Samus' visor is purple it also appears her light accents on her suit are also purple, probably get lost in the comments but this could be a new suit function allowing her to travel at will through the rifts
I'm still stammering at how Beyond actually looks almost as good as the Intro CGI. We have a 0.5 TFlops system , a virtual calculator in this Unreal 5 , 4KHD day n age. It's actually concerning. But with this, it's putting out late life PS4 (vanilla) graphics.) I'm ,, I'm scared of what Retro eat at night.
What does which ship she's got have to do with anything? You realize people can have more than one car, right? The most well known and decorated bounty hunter in the entire galaxy wouldn't keep just one ship. Your logic breaks because if MP1-3 all happen before metroid 2, then she has at least 3 different ships before her trip to SR388. The ships we see her lose are the zero mission ship, and the ship she uses in mp2, 2, and super when the x infection finally takes her down in the intro to fusion, which is after this in the timeline. The mochtroids are also the biggest indicator to when this happens, although even that doesn't make sense because sylux wasn't standing next to a mochtroid in a tube at the end of federation force so it would stand to reason he'd have actual metroids in his arsenal
I don't think the point of Samus' shoulder width is to be realistic but rather recognizable, which is the reason why it was so big before. Also we're still talking about SciFy so talking about realistic to this extreme isn't that relevant I think. Who knows if Samus' suit isn't made in a very light alloy but requires this weight to store the different functions of her suit or they are that big just to protect her better? Then it would be a logical decision and it would be realistic. But her suit isn't realistic anyway so commenting on realism regarding that is rather pointless I think.

Would be cool to speculate on what the lights shooting off the big Deku tree are
Metroid prime 4 beyond pinball when??
That would honestly be cool, for a small E-shop release, at least.
Agree! It could perfectly be like Prime 4 takes place on different decades
The Prime games actually take place between Metroid 1 and 2, not 2 and Super
That's supposed to be simple? Gosh, I must be a dummy. 🫠
@@NL-X No that cannot be because OG Varia suit. This game still happens before Fusion and Dread. The date is not the only hint.
Great vid!
I was just thinking about the missile selection in the bottom left corner
What if missile upgrades you no doubt get are mapped to “press the missile button while holding a fully charged beam to do a super missile” and “hold the missile button and release to lock onto and shoot multiple targets at once”
And then the other selections are different abilities like grapple and dash with their own upgrades to unlock
Maybe not but it would be neat
Nice work touching on details I’ve seen others miss!
I haven’t been this excited to play a game in many years.
If this game is set in 20X9, and Samus Returns, Super Metroid and Other M are still in 20X7 (Since they all directly sequence into each other), then this has to be between Other M and Fusion. But there is one character that can contradict this: Ridley.
Or they can be different decades.
Also, note that Samus' arm cannon looks like the arm cannon from Other M
@Supersadd they just changed one thing so it wouldn't clip through her arm.
@@mds_main
Perhaps the Space Pirate remnants cloned Ridley too, or another of Ridley’s race
I think the green light on the cannon isn't a random detail. You can see all her lights becoming purple in the final shot, so maybe the color is an indicator of something and the led on the cannon is there on purpose.
One thing that wasn't mentioned was the new Space Pirate theme which sounds even better.
Wow! Noticing the bump in the visor is genius!
That intro was beyond sick
11:20 both space pirates are alive indicated on the mini map (red dots)
The aircraft you showed in 8:40 aren't as much prototypes as they are cameos, at least that's how I'd view it. Way way back in the day when the comics were just coming out for metroid, there was a scene of samus' ship with an eerily similar look to what you showed from the trailer. More modern than futuristic, and less space-like but more human spacecraft-y.
But hey, maybe I'm just spitballing.
This video made me even more excited to play this game! It has been so long since it was announced!
Very nice analysis 😁
Nobody seems to notice that in the reflection of sylux in Samus’s Visor is just him and not the mochtroids. Maybe another scene?
I think it would be cool if the planet at the end is Cylosis, Sylux's home world.
Love this great attention to details
Meanwhile some people say that the graphics are the same as the wii...
14:42 What if charge beam can actually be upgraded?
Will it make it bigger, and stronger?
Will it be called "super charge beam"?🫠
In OtherM there were upgradeable charges, they could bring those back.
@@mds_main Cool, but what can they do?🫠
Like diffusion beam in dread?
@@_orangeonion
The Accel Charge power ups from OtherM basically made all chargeable weapons charge faster (Charge Beam, Super Missiles, Power Bomb). They could bring it back from Prime 4 while also adding an additional boost in power.
Otherwise they could bring back the Diffusion Beam as an upgrade yeah, I loved it in OtherM and Dread.
@@mds_main That sounds cool, i wonder how fast it’ll be🫠
SR and SM taking place in 20X7 was never canon or confirmed by Nintendo, therefore using 20X5 as the official date for Metroid we could assume a year takes place between each *mainline* game:
1. Metroid 20X5
2. Metroid Prime 20X6
3. Echoes 20X7
4. Corruption 20X8
5. Beyond 20X9
Makes sense considering Samus has the same gunship from Corruption.
I don't really buy the idea that because shes using the same ship from Prime 3 then it MUST be right after Prime 3 like many suggest.
Somehow this video doubled my hype. I honestly wasn't aware it could go higher.
Oh, I'm so glad this game isen't cancelled. It looks awesome
Nah, the bottom is just max capacity. Just an indicator that she has 29 of her 30 missiles left.
It might be wishful thinking but I hope we get a multiplayer mode like prime 2. Or was it 1? I can’t remember.
Anyway, with the radar having blips for friendlies, I could see a multiplayer battle mode where you can have teams. Would be neat.
I doubt it takes place after Super. The X is a variable. It could be any number. Like the Megaman timberline. 20XX. It's meant to be non specific
Wait all the other lights on her body are the same pink, and if it's a black hole event horizon, then usining the gravity feature would have been necessary
Gives me Jurassic vibes in the new world
The ship is silver instead of gold. How is that identical lol
Is gold, it's just the reflextion of the dark area, and it's identical on design, the colors are the only thing that are kinda different
Im kinda hoping we get to meet sone Chozo from the past or something
It is surely before Fusion because we know that Dread is after and her suit is still recovering during that game.
How does this game run better than Princess Peach Showtime?
The power of optimization!
Probably on the next consul or they have a special system to showcase switch games
@@rockinggamerdude They literally said in the video it's running on Switch hardware.
Probably because of years of optimization (after being scrapped and reworked at least once) and the fact that its not running on Unreal Engine.
The power of Retro Studios
remember this is the redo so much of the initial ideas and design likely changed in significant ways otherwise the development wouldn't have been handed back to Retro studios after they pitched their vision for the sequel.
Sylux might be Rusty from the underrated DSi Ware game Dark Void Zero. Beyond... Beyond the franchise.
While Samus' visor is purple it also appears her light accents on her suit are also purple, probably get lost in the comments but this could be a new suit function allowing her to travel at will through the rifts
During metroid prime 2 echoes, samus created two paralel timelines because she jumping between the dark and light realm❤😂😂😂😂
The ultimate analysis.
i cant belive that some people says is the same grafics like the prime 1 remaster.....
I'm still stammering at how Beyond actually looks almost as good as the Intro CGI. We have a 0.5 TFlops system , a virtual calculator in this Unreal 5 , 4KHD day n age. It's actually concerning. But with this, it's putting out late life PS4 (vanilla) graphics.)
I'm ,, I'm scared of what Retro eat at night.
Oh yeah Joseph but now i hope This game takes place after Dread!
If they’re gonna port/remaster all the prime games
Hope hunters and fed force get a second chance
It seems as though Zelda fans who are upset over how open Zelda games have been recently might be happy with the classic linearity of Metroid Prime 4.
Could the Emmi enemies from Dread appear?
Nope, takes place before that
It's the great deku tree
Retro: True wuve - princess bride
Add dynamic lighting to the cannon fire like the OG Metroid on GameCube!!!!!!!!!!! It’s been over 20 years and somehow the cannon file is less cool. 😢
her shoulders aren't too bad width wise
she's basically Rhea Ripley, right?
Bombs regenerate?! In which game? Ive never once played a Metroid entry where morph bombs regenerate. Theyve always replenished with pickups
Will there be a Mochtroid Prime lol
Samus figure was unrealistic?! She can turn into a freaking ball
That "Adam gave her permission" zinger was absolutely delightful.
But her suit isn't realistic anyway so commenting on realism regarding that is rather pointless I think.
fair federation force deserves a second chance
People only disliked it because of the timing of its release a lot of people who played the whole game thought it was good
It deserves to find a new audience it deserves a second chance
With Metroid in the public eye again do you think they’ll remaster federation force since people didn’t give that game a fair chance due to the lack of Metroid previously
The people who did play it thought it was good
I mean if they’re gonna do all the prime games how about the most overlooked one and bring it to a new audience
How about they don’t leave it where it is
Give it the remaster treatment or just port it it would do a lot better
Didn't this video come out a week ago?
14:40 honestly, the charge beam looking so tiny is the only thing that really bothers me. It looks ridiculously non-dangerous
I think the weirdest assumption is tying pronouns to Sylux being an organic person. Boats are often referred to with 'she' and robots are assigned pronouns fairly frequently, so that jump is a little strange to me.
That aside, pretty cool deep dive.
Give us Kraid
Metroids have 4 nuclei
They’re probably remastering 2 and 3 since 4 is released in 2025
"What if it was purple?"
I can’t wait until 2025!…Seriously.
This looks way batter than halo.
Finaly wioo😊
