Ignore the negative comments. This film was never intended to be an Oscar contender and is an old-fashioned enjoyable romp. Lighten up, critics, and enjoy the free movie.
I really love these old Movies: no GCI, great Actors (and you see, they have fun to play there role), and lovley details. Those Movies have there own charme.
I actually like oldies, no CGI, and yet a story helping to make them more believable. These movies took a lot more time to do since most were also using backdrops which artists, using their artistic abilities and creativity, adding their talents into completing the work. Many people were used to do this work. These are what would be called the low budget B movies, and a series with them would be shown in theaters on the big screens first before the main event film. Movies back then were a lot cheaper to go to in theaters than they are today, so going to the movies was a big thing with everyone because money was scarce and pay was low. If a family didn’t go all year, they would then be treated to a free movie. Most of these types of movies were made during the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s when hard times of the Stock Market Crash, the Great Depression, WW I, and WW II a reminder of working together and the sacrifices people made to keep our nation together and free from oppression. In keeping the family together, my dad was a part of that workforce, while my mother raised 2 children during this ordeal in helping to keep the family together. Movies became a relief for stressful situations. I have great respect for those who made movies during these eras. It wasn’t easy to do. ❤
That's the outward appearance. On the flip side, movies were used by nefarious manipulators to soften and distract the people under the guise of caring for them and entertaining them, with the goal of lulling them to sleep so they would not notice the takeover of the powerful aspects of government and expanding that power under the guise of "safety". The generation that grew up in the 40's and 50's was a soft generation. We are now reaping the evil reward of those who do not keep a vigilant eye out for infringements upon their liberties. Look how many things you now have to obtain a permit or license to do, which 70 years ago you had the right to do!
Loved this, reminded me of the series The Adventures of Robbin Hood. The fighting was funny but I liked it all just the same. The women back then were very beautiful - the actresses - compared to those of today.
I just love these old movies!!! It's been a long time since I've seen this Robin hood...I'm going to sit back and ENJOY!!!😂.....though my favorite Robin hood is earl fkynn...
Well damn, wot's this? An old Robin Hood movie I never heard of? Impossible! And yet, here we are! Thanks so much for posting! (Just for the record, my personal fave is Michael Praed in the early "Robin of Sherwood" series.)
The makeup man on this film was Jack Pierce, the same Jack Pierce who devised Boris Karloff's Frankenstein monster and Lon Chaney Jr's Wolfman and many others.
According to IMDB this was a pilot for a TV series that never got made so judging it on that it was an entertaining take on the Robin Hood legend. My only quibble the colourisation was awful if something was filmed in B&W that's how it should stay. Thanks for posting.
8:45 minute mark // the actor on the right he played a senator in '7 Days in May' with Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, Ava gardner , John Houseman (his first role), ... // thanks for the upload
Right you are. That was the character actor Whit Bissell who I always recall as the town undertaker in The Magnificent Seven. He has a very funny line in M7 to the effect the he has no prejudice because he thinks of everyone as just future potential customers !!
I agree it's not a poor imitation of the Errol Flynn version of Robin Hood it's its own version it stands on its own and it's equally fun to watch and it's own way it's a fine film very enjoyable and it's made by Hal Roach they made the Laurel and Hardy movies etc The Little rascals our gang movies you know no this is good
This movie was done in black and white . So you’ll see the studio lights colors will fade from time to time . The character of Robin as a kid knew every nook and cranny of that castle . So the sherif was at a serious disadvantage .
Everybody so far hasn't commented about Robin's Ward ( no, not that one, but same decade), actor, Wilt Bissell, who later also had an ancient "relative" double role as the "General" of Project Tick Tock ( 😉 aka 'The Time Tunnel'-1966-67). Also, the actress who played Maid Marion resembles a teenage Shirley Temple
Terrence McCoy It seemed during the fifties and on through the seventies, that Whit Bissell was in everything. To my knowledge he was never featured in a leading romantic role, but you'd spot him puffing a pipe and lecturing on monster bones, or ordering around a squad of uniformed extras.
You need to play the 1939 version of Robin Hood also play the silent version of Robin Hood I've seen that one before both of them I've seen they're very good
Robinhood is my favourite adventure movie. Stealing and feesing the poor is an hourable thing to do even it morally wrong. But the king and powerful also steal from ordinary people.
A true story of medieval special forces operatives, surviving in the wild whilst outthinking and outfighting a superior enemy armed only with brooms and rubber swords🤣🤣
Interesting attempt at colouring the film, and this film DOES benefit from some colour, though I always thought Robin Hood and his Merry Men dressed in Lincoln Green not purple? However the flesh tones are very good and the HD quality is excellent, and certainly better than b & w.
Can you find an old Christian movie of the way of the cross. I recall it as a child and it was bever shown again. Please. And thank you.❤ It was probably made before the 60s
Some people think, mistakenly, that the Star Wars Holiday Special is hilariously entertaining in the it's-so-bad-it's-good category. These people are idiots. Idiots who have never sat through an entire viewing of the Holiday Special...It is mostly like watching a one-armed, blind, five-year-old bowl in slow motion for an hour and a half.😄
@@mikesilva3868 I've watched it. The whole thing. Even being very drunk didn't improve it. It was one of the worst times of my life. And I've had about 7 near dead experiences so far

A poor imitation of the original Errol Flynn Adventures of Robin Hood, one of the best movies ever made.
Not at all a 'poor' imitation! Tales of Robin Hood is fine, fun entertainment for which we thank CCC...

More of a cliffhanger for a planned TV series, which was never filmed.

English history about a Scotsman who was Robin Hood.
Think families chewing popcorn in a drive in. Fun for all ages.
Good fun.
This is a fun vintage romp. I might be more fun in the original monochrome, though. Robin Hood's outfit should be green and brown, not blue.
It comes across when , when the tax collector says you’ll pay for that , it figures .
Thats a different version that I have not seen before.
The QUESTION I have ..was the real Robin Hood Adam Bell or Clym of the Clough or Piers Ploughman? He WAS one of those three.
At 48:24 Rock Hudson look-a-like(?) on the right.
Alguém sabe me informar se esse filme é baseado em uma história real?
Blue is nice 14:23, but whoever did the colorizing must not have known they wore Lincoln GREEN.
😅😅

Why is Robin Hood wearing purple instead of the traditional green?
