The bionic jacket has a split chest armor design. They had stirdy padding with hard parts aswell as a C2 back prtector which I transplanted into my leather jacket. I was always skeptical about this Icon with the soft parts and glad I steered clear of it.
Excited to see the comparison for next week. It might be presumptuous to think I had any impact on it but it's pretty much exactly what I asked for in the comments of a video earlier this week! As a side note, I just purchased a few things from you guys: a disk lock, air filter and wheel bearings front and back. Shipping was free and arrived on time, price was more than fair. You guys are running an A+ ship in my books.
Love the sarcasm Ryan. Also congratulations to you and those who support you behind the scenes on the continued growth and success of the channel. Thumbs Up!
just a quick heads up... when there is a significant kinetic energy transfer from the body armor to the body, the armor would probably not crack. the reason of the armor cracking is either because there is a good protection ending in all energy being absorbed by the armor, or because you have hit it soo hard that the energy transfered by the hit is more than the energy transfered from the armor to the body which would mean that excess energy wouldn't be able to move to the body and ends up in ripping through the armor... example; put foam against a wall and hit it, and put ceramic against a wall and hit it. if you hit the foam, you will leave a dent in the wall and if you hit it too hard the excess will kill the foam too. with ceramic nothing will happen to the wall but the ceramic will shatter. this is why tank armor isn't made of foam but from ceramic composites.
I know its a pretty expensive test to do, but I would love to see the same thing done to the Forcefield CE2 chest and arm rig that they sell. Great job, people should know that Icon is a joke when it comes to safety gear, they truly are the hooligan brand. Thanks for doing what you do man.
Thanks for the review! I've seen a couple of these type of setups around and had serious doubts as to their effectiveness as motorcycle gear. Guess my first impression was correct.
I own the Stryker rig and the rivets on the back are annoying and they pop off all the time and mostly go missing. They don't supply any spares. Although when I walk through the shops with a jacket over my armour I get a lot of looks from the ladies. Makes me wish I went to the gym more.
Interesting. The abrasion, water, and fire were no surprise, but I had expected the impact panels to do much better. The impact protectors in other Icon gear has been very sufficient.
I think this is video series is excellent for new riders and really any type of riders to know just how protective the gear is. I don't mind spending a lot on gear but i would like to have some guarantee that it will actually work in a crash.
I'd appreciate seeing Ryan doing reviews on gear to avoid (whether it be because of the default armour, the material, the weight, ETC) or even Ryan doing a review on gear that is designed to be completely inconspicuous and not looking like bike gear (from helmet to boots and everything in between).
Well THANKYOU FortNine.. I'd asked for a body armour jacket for my birthday.. it came, looked awesome, but even though it was XL, it was too small, so I sent it back... NOW, that seems like a blessing in disguise.. so I bought a new tail bag instead.. I think I'll stick with my Ricoh leather jacket & my RST textile jacket instead..
love the test videos and content, but have you thought of giving a suggestion of a better performing similar item for each test video? if the Stryker fails, what would you suggest in the same segment? I'm looking for a summer armor that I can wear under a hoodie.... not the stryker... so...... what now?
Thanks! Check out the Forcefield EX-K Harness Flite Plus (fortnine.ca/en/forcefield-ex-k-harness-plus-flite). Just reviewed one of those and it was brilliant. Properly protective too... kN transmitted are around 350% lower than the Stryker Rig. ~RyanF9
War the Stryker rig and had a massive accident on the street (someone turned left in front of me and threw me 85ft) honestly so glad I had it on. I own leather jackets from icon (hypersport prime) which I know are definitely more protective but still for what the gear offers I couldn't be happier with how it protected me.
Just a little suggestion, I was wandering if you would ever do a video on the best motorcycle security measures such as disc locks, ground anchors ect. Especially here in Britain motorcycle theft is out of control so could be a good video for u to look into?
Wow, thank you so much for doing these tests! I was planning on ordering this thinking it would hold up quite well in most conditions but you've proved otherwise! Thanks for saving me $300+
best "newb" helmet. yes, i have a budget. maybe 200-300$ you have any good helmets? i prefer full face but i also like the Shoei Hornet x2 look, any good helmets?
Rexczi Cex Highly recommend the AGV K3 SV, its within your price range, and if you are slightly more oval than intermediate like I am, it's an extremely comfortable helmet with tons of airflow.
I bought this rig a few months ago. I returned it after trying it on. Just didn't seem like it would protect me very well on the road. Off road it would be alright as long as you are not using it for motocross or any other high risk sport.
You should put a sand bag in the armor and drag it with a car across the pavement. This test doesn't resemble anything bikers would go through. All that aside, this video is entertaining. Deserves a like
haha love the video ! you guys are the best at doing review in my opinion. Also would you please do a video of the top 5 armors out there? pretty please.
Can you please test a jacket that has CE-2 level protection? I just bought one from Rev'it and am really curious if I should have bought something else that was CE-1?
thank you for making this video,I was honestly gonna buy that b/c I need a motorcycle jacket.Thinking about going w/the Icon Anthem 2 in white & black.
Ryan, I'd really like you to keep making those amazing videos. I'm hoping you burnt that d3o armor in a ventilated area. Incomplete combustion of polyurethanes makes quite a few of those pesky CO's and HCN's.
I might be the only one but I wear just the vest under all my jackets. we are the same identical size and it fits well. I wear it for the back protector. the frt armor is a joke. Good thing I got mine used twice for $30usd.
How does armour like this compare to typical MX armour in terms of protection ? eg Fox Titan elbow armour. Are they comparable? Have you upgraded the d3o in your Raiden jacket?
Helo sir.. im always watching you're youtube channel.... can i request maybe can you explain is it ok or safe to put turbo charger in small displacement bike??? I wonder cuz most of Asian here in my region do that mostly in india
I've got cheap Chinese armour like this and have taken hits from bats and fists and even had an off ( only dislocated clavicle) and it just tanked it. Bring hit by the bat did hurt a lot mind .
Can you crash test Alpinestars bionic tech jacket?!?! That would be a great help to anyone looking for the same kinda product but one that hopefully helps. Anyways awesome video. Hope to see more crash tests soon
Have you or can you do a video for the first gear you should buy and some suggestions? I'm having my first road motorcycle soon and i don't know what to get thanks !
FortNine I would really like to see a test of the Acerbis cosmo v2.0 Jacket as well as the Acerbis evo 2 (or 3 cant recall the number) knee protectors ... as they are widely spread out
This looks cool. Fashion over form though. Hopefully someone at icon watches this and fixes the flaws. I would have probably bought Stryker before watching this. I'll just save my cash for something that will offer more real protection. This thing only offers impact protection and just doesn't do it very well. Then again any protection is better than no protection. If it looks cool more people will wear it and do so more often.
Indeed - we were still figuring out our filming method when we tested that jacket, and so we didn't end up cutting together a proper video. But we *did* legitimately test the jacket. ~RyanF9
So what happened to the crash test of the Icon riding jeans? I get this sneaking suspicion Icon got a little angry with your crash tests and said no to any more?
i bet doing this crash test shit got super expensive. but i definitely want to see more. kept me from buying some stuff that definitely burns fast like this crap armor lol. keep it up FORT NINE...
how do you not have anothher zero behind you sub count bro?? your videos are extremely helpful and proffessional, Thank you for the info and help, and keep up the good work bro ;)
hmmm.. the rig looks really sturdy which does give a false sense of security. i bought the ICON Field Armor stryker knee guards and they look very sturdy as well. dont know about impact protection on those but they seem really good for abrasion resistance and will stay in place in the event of a crash. of course, i havent crashedwith those so cant vouch for that but a F9 lab test is much required. :D (you should make many more such videos tbh).
Note to self, don't buy this horribly over priced motorcycle cosplay armour.
DA2THFA1RY truth. what's amazing is how many squids buy this "armor" with some expectation of protection.
I wonder how the Bionic tech jacket would stack up. Used to have one...went down in one....and saved my shoulder :)
I'd rather the Alpinestar bionic armor no hard chest armor but it's not meant for road it's for motox and mountain biking but MUCH cheaper
The bionic jacket has a split chest armor design. They had stirdy padding with hard parts aswell as a C2 back prtector which I transplanted into my leather jacket. I was always skeptical about this Icon with the soft parts and glad I steered clear of it.
:D
So basically this is a bullshit product and makes you look like a power ranger
Icon HQ parking lot is full of cars tonight.
in the elbow protection test, you should put a wood dowel in the noodle to "simulate" bone
Excited to see the comparison for next week. It might be presumptuous to think I had any impact on it but it's pretty much exactly what I asked for in the comments of a video earlier this week! can we get some dainese armor textile jackets into the crash test lab, I want to buy one but would like to see it torture tested first
Love the sarcasm Ryan. Also congratulations to you and those who support you behind the scenes on the continued growth and success of the channel. Thumbs Up!
I like your narrative style.

dude thats it! youve made me over the edge i want to start riding! im saving for the msf course starting today! such a great video
!
Hi Ryan, did you ever rate women's pants?, am looking for the wiffey before riding season kicks in.... TY...
Not yet! ~r
Tbh it's the same stuff we wear, just made for the female form
I own the Stryker rig and the rivets on the back are annoying and they pop off all the time and mostly go missing. They don't supply any spares. Although when I walk through the shops with a jacket over my armour I get a lot of looks from the ladies. Makes me wish I went to the gym more.

You roasted literally this Icon , haha.
Really love this recent 'Crash Test' series of yours. Would it be possible to test the 'Rev'it Lombard 2' Jeans too?
this should have a million view... thank you
I'd appreciate seeing Ryan doing reviews on gear to avoid (whether it be because of the default armour, the material, the weight, ETC) or even Ryan doing a review on gear that is designed to be completely inconspicuous and not looking like bike gear (from helmet to boots and everything in between).

Pls check EVS sports vest
Glad to find this vid. Thank you FortNine

I own leather jackets from icon (hypersport prime) which I know are definitely more protective but still for what the gear offers I couldn't be happier with how it protected me.
im so glad for crash tested. please try every jacket lol. this makes making choices over stores so much easier
Just a little suggestion, I was wandering if you would ever do a video on the best motorcycle security measures such as disc locks, ground anchors ect. Especially here in Britain motorcycle theft is out of control so could be a good video for u to look into?
Hey - just shot that video the other day! Should be posted on youtube in the next few weeks :) ~RyanF9
Oh great, looking forward to it and thanks for the update :)
Wow, thank you so much for doing these tests! I was planning on ordering this thinking it would hold up quite well in most conditions but you've proved otherwise! Thanks for saving me $300+

Thanks guys
Cant go wrong with a high Vis scorpian EXO helmet. 150$ and its DOT and snell certified.
look into bell qualifier dlx
Another for the Scorpion EXO line. Got mine for $200 and it's way quieter than most other helmets in the same price range.
I bought this rig a few months ago. I returned it after trying it on. Just didn't seem like it would protect me very well on the road. Off road it would be alright as long as you are not using it for motocross or any other high risk sport.
Can't wait for next week. Was looking into getting some riding jeans
I can't wait for next weeks video
Ooooo I'm excited for next week's test. I usually always wear jeans when I ride.
I luv F9's expression as he swings the bat!!! ;)
I always thought of it as something that just looks really cool, like seriously look at it. But of course offers little to no protection.
it is the same which WALTEREFFIC wears !
Yeh also the one he crashed in moderately slowly and still ended up braking his collar bone
Walter uses the EVS Comp suit
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/evs-comp-suit
SpawnNightking oh Jesus that looks even more cheap and useless
SwedenFreakz I've tried one on, feels like junk. Very nasty...
Oh ma lord, what a hell of a crap..
Thank you for the review! I was going to purchase one, but now I am not! I enjoyed your video! Thanks!!
You should put a sand bag in the armor and drag it with a car across the pavement. This test doesn't resemble anything bikers would go through. All that aside, this video is entertaining. Deserves a like
Where is the video for the Firstgear TGP Rainier Jacket as shown at 5:34?
You know, at first i was like ...ummm just dont know about this guy. But i like him after all. Time well spent
haha love the video ! you guys are the best at doing review in my opinion. Also would you please do a video of the top 5 armors out there? pretty please.
When is the next crash tested coming out?
thanks for solving a dilemma I had on getting this set or not :)
Wtf, video once a week, we need it every day before go to bed!
Could you test back protectors please ? Nice video brw
looking forward to next week !😉
Fell off my bike going 100+ on the highway with this same vest n it does the job
You guys should do the crash test on one of the bell star series helmets. But great vid always enjoy them!
Ever do that motorcycle jean vs regular jean video yet? Trying to find it but no luck.
I think they did on, I might be wrong though. It might have also been Revzilla. All i know is someone did and I watched it haha.
+FortNine what shoes are you wearing in this video? Also, are the motorcycle shoes? They look amazing and I want some!
hi! are you gonna try forcefield exk harness? I think it s the only one ce level 2 rated in every part..thank you!
Nice and interesting videos that you've on your channel. Great job, can't wait for the next one.
So how do other jackets with D3o elbow armour ,level1 or level2 , withstand the golf stick test? Eg Icon Jackets, Klum jackets etc
The CE Level 2 elbow pads have all passed so far. CE Level 1 stuff is hit and miss. Usually miss. ~RyanF9
Thanks. Icon have level 2 replacement d3o armour - might be worth upgrading some.
i would honestly just like to take a moment to recognize how amazing that golf swing was at least a 300 yard drive
Brian f9 took those hits like a champ
Could we see crash tests on the forcefield pro pants/shirt or the shark drak/vancore?
Well i can definitely say that i would prefer even a $20 one on amazon versus nothing
I wonder how the new iteration of this (Field Armor 3) improves upon Ryan's gripes.
more of these videos please ♥️
another great job on this vid. 👍👍👍
I might be the only one but I wear just the vest under all my jackets. we are the same identical size and it fits well. I wear it for the back protector. the frt armor is a joke. Good thing I got mine used twice for $30usd.
I like this series! Other than the fact that it took a dump on my Icon Airmada helmet lol, I'll have to upgrade to something better one day :)
It'd be cool to see a test on the alpinestar 2016 bionic tech jacket
What happened to the jeans crash test?
How does armour like this compare to typical MX armour in terms of protection ? eg Fox Titan elbow armour. Are they comparable?
Have you upgraded the d3o in your Raiden jacket?
Helo sir.. im always watching you're youtube channel.... can i request maybe can you explain is it ok or safe to put turbo charger in small displacement bike??? I wonder cuz most of Asian here in my region do that mostly in india
Thanks, nicely revealed
Pls test the new 2017 EVS Street vest and EVS Sport vest. These are supposedly the best out there.
Haha...pretty sure it's mostly just supposed to look cool.
Hope to see more crash tests soon
do a test on the stryker vest
Have you or can you do a video for the first gear you should buy and some suggestions? I'm having my first road motorcycle soon and i don't know what to get thanks !
William Désourdy He's already made videos of that. I think a couple of them. Just check the list on the channel
Congrats on getting your first road bike! Here's the video you're looking for: ruclips.net/video/hLFbUeHPrPc/видео.html ~RyanF9
Thanks alot !
FortNine I would really like to see a test of the Acerbis cosmo v2.0 Jacket as well as the Acerbis evo 2 (or 3 cant recall the number) knee protectors ... as they are widely spread out
looking forward to the jeans review!
Can you do the same for Forcefields equivalent product which *IS* CE Level 2.
Can you review more of thise "Rigs" or what you call them. I really want to get a good one, but I dont really have the knowledge :)
Can you do some testing like this for an airbag jacket? (like helite, dainese or alpine)
Where's the TGP Rainier video? I can't for the life of me find it anywhere
Indeed - we were still figuring out our filming method when we tested that jacket, and so we didn't end up cutting together a proper video. But we *did* legitimately test the jacket. ~RyanF9
So please tell us the best one.,., WHICH ONE IS THE BEST OF ALL SO FAR
This dude is awesome
Can you test the Knox Roman Relaxed Motorcycle Jeans?
icon gear is squid gear, why bother.
Love this type of video, are you gonna test the scorpion exo 1200 ? (sorry for english, watching from france 🥖 🧀 😂✌️)
So what happened to the crash test of the Icon riding jeans? I get this sneaking suspicion Icon got a little angry with your crash tests and said no to any more?
Do you have a review/crash test video for the TGP Rainier Jacket? I can't find it
Nah no video - we were still figuring out our filming method when we tested that jacket. ~RyanF9
FortNine THEN DO A REVIEW ON IT!!!!
You should test the Duke Helmets DK-120 at some point, it's an extremely cheap helmet on amazon that's less than $100
Can you do a video on D3O vs ForceField back protectors? Pros and cons of each pad/material? Thanks
So what is the best under armor to wear under your flannel and jacket?
Do the fox titan armor!
Just bought a no-name riding armor rig from Hongkong. I'd love to send it to you guys if Ryan promises to test it the same way. :)
so when do we get to see the jean comparison
i bet doing this crash test shit got super expensive. but i definitely want to see more. kept me from buying some stuff that definitely burns fast like this crap armor lol. keep it up FORT NINE...
am I the only person who likes his face when he punches mr.dummy with a baseball stick?
how do you not have anothher zero behind you sub count bro?? your videos are extremely helpful and proffessional, Thank you for the info and help, and keep up the good work bro ;)
hmmm.. the rig looks really sturdy which does give a false sense of security. i bought the ICON Field Armor stryker knee guards and they look very sturdy as well. dont know about impact protection on those but they seem really good for abrasion resistance and will stay in place in the event of a crash. of course, i havent crashedwith those so cant vouch for that but a F9 lab test is much required. :D (you should make many more such videos tbh).
is the G6 ballistic Jersey better??
