To be fair the difference between tan and pale skin for East Asians (and some SEAs) is a distinct marker between western-born and international students/FOBs
As a pale westerner Asian, I absolutely see your point. But there’s a lot more than just that, I’m rarely if ever mistaken as a FOB, despite having pasty af skin. Because I pretty much exist in pajamas and my hair is never done and basically my style is underdressed.
@@nicolely8708same for me, I’m pasty pale because I barely go outside. I have online school, I work remote, and I exercise at a gym so I barely see the sun except through my window. I know lots of other people like that too, not all of us are going to be tan.
Bro same. I ain’t even a western born Asian but still I relate to this. I’m Hispanic but I’m very into East Asian culture so therefore I struggle with this too😭✋
Totally true for the Europe thing. I live there. I'm the type who spends lots of time creating unique outfits and I take lots of inspiration from korean and japanese fashion. Well I tend to get glances a lot in the street. I went to visit Japan and South Korean a month ago, and I actually felt underdressed 😅 it was so refreshing to see everyone wearing such cute outfits tho
Idk what part Europe you have been but that's totally false as European myself Balkan countries are totally glam even though if you're gonna grab a coffee
Meanwhile my friend who traveled to Ukraine was gloating about how better everyone was dressed compared to Seattle, which is fair given everyone there dresses like they own a tesla, go to a gym, only own Nike, and ball caps, and swear that kombucha saved their life.
... Bloody hell... Admittedly, its like that in the Philippines too... I tried to do like how Westerners style in shows like Euphoria/ Harajuku style/ mash-up of Vivienne Westwood-Dior with biker jacket and you know what I got? "Are you going on a date?" "You look Korean" Me: "Guys, its just for Sunday Mass and this is how I see myself!"
SAME WITH ME GURL! I'm half Thai and British and I'm naturally a very pale person likeeee I'm giving casper the ghost.. And I'm currently living in the uk and. I get so jealous of seeing people with tanned skin and i really want that but at the same time I wanna embrace my skintone... it's really werid but i totally get u!!
Im.half chinese ill.only use temp tan and bronzer on soem.days but it has to be a statement thing for me like ineed some heavy teal blueissh eyeliner on the bottom remindsme of the ocean and my skin is the warm sando. The beach when i use bronzer but msor of the time i want to be pale
Hmm…. I think it’s probably interest-based. You’re lucky to be available to both, but it depends. For instance, if you’re like me and really like East Asian Culture (ex. k-Pop), you probably want to go for pale. On the other hand, if you like western culture (ex. Sabrina Carpenter), you’ll probably want to go for a more tanned skin ❤
As a Japanese-Brazilian raised in a seaside town in Br, I spent my whole life struggling to get a tan. Then, I went to Japan for my PhD and everybody there would compliment my pale skin and ask me what products I use 😭 I was so conflicted
As a disabled goth girl who tans at the drop of a hat, this also applies to me LOL 🎀 Love you doll, your beauty tips are the best whether you’re feeling idol pale or ganguro 🌸💕
Are you a western born Asian? I can't tell what kind of accent you have there. I always thought you were an Asian from Asia who speaks English well because you have a bit of an accent.
As a Thai person who was born and raised in the states, it felt really lonely because there’s virtually no real Thai presence/community here for the 2nd gen kids. However, I know how my country is perceived, so I’m glad we got no skin in the game on this poll lmaooo
I’m half Asian and adopted by Americans! I get this struggle! But I think I prefer to be more pale and it’s better for the skin not to be exposed in the sun too much
There are two questions to answer. Are you aiming to please a particular demographic (including 'you') and which culture do you mostly live in? The convention for beauty is determined by the local culture so you need to establish what that is and whether you are aiming to meet or challenge those standards.
Idk, like i have naturally pale skin, so might as well do east asian makeup. I just wanna be slightly tan tho, cos my legs look like I've not seen the light of day (uk weather don't help)
im mixed and ngl i think i burn and brown more in tenerife than i do in malaysia, but that’s probably because the heat there is worse and its unbearable to be in the sun sometimes
as a western-born southeast asian, i used to try to stay pale and would spend so much energy to avoid the sun during summer. now i don’t care and just let my body tan if im in the sun. i naturally tan when exposed to the sun and im honestly tired and too sweaty to cover up all the time
I have a questions with you sister your Follow Any Religion I invite you to Islam ☪️ Accept or not your saying this your becomes a Muslim Laaa Ilaaha Illa-llaahu Muhammadur-Rasoolu-llaah There is none worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah I don't force you

This is EXACTLY my problem
I end up just looking like a different person depending on the season or continent 😅
Bro same. I ain’t even a western born Asian but still I relate to this. I’m Hispanic but I’m very into East Asian culture so therefore I struggle with this too😭✋
kpop idol douyin makeup look for the winter. sabrina carpenter makeup look for the summer

For me, as a SE Asian, I love being tan a bit more than pale but sometimes I go for pale too. I understand the struggle. 🇵🇭🇫🇷❤️
Idk why but you look literally gorgeous in that hairstyle
I'm German but still pretty pale. I have the same problem because my grandmother tell me every time that I would look prettier with a tan.😢
"Casul dressing in Asia is overdressed in Europe" ... Correction "South East Asia"
Not all Asians dressed like this on casual days (I'm also Asian)
Idk what part Europe you have been but that's totally false as European myself Balkan countries are totally glam even though if you're gonna grab a coffee
Off topic but that capybara is so cute😭💗
I dunno about the casual dress thing is overdressed... I'm Chinese born in UK, I walk to the local shops in my pajamas and slippers.
this is my struggles right now 😂😂😂 I can shape shifting
Same! And even with dressing up, or social culture, its like who do I listen to? Complete opposites 😭😭✋
Bangladeshi girl piz piz piz piz 🙏🙏❤
Omg!!! You're so pretty girl you look like IVE Wonyoung🥰💖

"Are you going on a date?"
"You look Korean"
Me: "Guys, its just for Sunday Mass and this is how I see myself!"
Well again asia isn't just south korea, china and japan
THIS ALSO MY PROBLEM IDK IF I WANNA GO TAN OR BE PALE ASF 😭
Tan is hotter 😂
"americans dressing comfortable" VS "europens dressing comfortable"
I love kbeauty but i always add bronzer
Since my childhood, I do not know those options.

THE CAPYBARA PLUSH❤ THAT WAS LITTERALY THE FIRST THING I SAW IN THIS VIDEO
OMG same!!!
This is exactly my problem. I'm half Chinese and I can't decide either.

You look beautiful ❤️ in either way 🎉

- a wise woman
I KNOWWWWWWW RIGHT SOOO RELATABLE
If this is your "Problem" you dont have problems.
the "cant" was so satisfying
Just yourself? No need to go and change everything about yourself if you look fine.
First be pale and Korean style and then tan by the sun and like European style.😂😂 Because you can always tan if ur pale
Cute
And asian eyebrows or American feather eyebrows?
just dress up as you god made you an original so why die a copy. sure all those influencers a pretty but so are you and you should embrace it
The topic is important but the CAPYBARA
im mixed and ngl i think i burn and brown more in tenerife than i do in malaysia, but that’s probably because the heat there is worse and its unbearable to be in the sun sometimes
I guess pale? Since i wssume its easier to tan afterwards, than be tan and try reverting to pale
pls do India
I want to wear cute things in europe but it's weird when everyone stares, if this is a thing in asia then that's cool
As a European i hate tan and the eu style and i get so much negative attention for it from people😂
really wanna be pale (i am naturally) but everyone says i would look better tan :(
Act the way you look and look the way you act, be Asian, and that's what you can be
The struggle is sooo real. Stay white 🐻❄️
Capybara ❤
as a western-born southeast asian, i used to try to stay pale and would spend so much energy to avoid the sun during summer. now i don’t care and just let my body tan if im in the sun. i naturally tan when exposed to the sun and im honestly tired and too sweaty to cover up all the time
Trust me they wanna look like you!
Honey the dressing part is a national thing in Asia😂
I thought you meant like Turkish or Israeli or Georgian or something else West Asia 😂
As a black person atleast u have the option to be pale or tan lol
Tan
OMGG FRR (im asian born in america)
As a German- Jamaican who grew up with anime, visual kei, k-pop and 90s RnB and hip hop. This is ringing so true 😅😂💜
Go for your natural skin tone then❤
It don't matter either way when you're that attractive love. You'll look good pale or tanned.💯
This but I'm Hawaiian chinese! Do I be pale and doyin or go with my family tan and pacific islander style!!
I'm not Asian but being pale is just healthier for my skin, so I gladly stay pale.
You’re western born??
Its a struggle for me as an 🇩🇪🇮🇹🇫🇷 everytime I see so much beautiful asians 🥹
Omg the capybara plush I got one too but Mine looks funkier
Lucky struggle
this is so real 😭😭
I can’t be that pale unfortunately… so I gotta dress western no matter what 😭
Wow, some really deep intellectual questions here
Whatever you do, keep it natural!!!
