I was just searching for nice rooms with baths in Yosemite Valley for very early June, 2024. Plenty of tents for $170 per night, but rooms with baths are always difficult to find anytime it seems in the Valley. Just when I was about to give up, several cancellations became available including one night in the Ahwahnee's Library Suite @ $1400! Not in my budget this trip, but I did reserve 3 nights at the Lodge and Curry Village for $250-$300 per night. I have stayed at the Ahwahnee over Christmas, and on Christmas Eve members of the San Francisco Opera entertained guests with carols including some sing alongs! Special!
@@flyingdawnmarie My family has a five generation love affair with Yosemite since 1909 when Grandpa went there by stage! My Mom lived in Yosemite from 1935-41 managing the Curry ice rink; her husband was a ski instructor at Badger Pass. On Fridays after work everyone partied above Best Studio. Ansel played the piano and Mom sang!

I grew up as a competitive figure skater so every winter one of my favorite activities is heading to the ice rink on my days off and looking up at half dome while I skate around the rink. I’ve studied a bit on the rink’s history (and I always love viewing the historic ice rink photos inside the Ahwahnee) but to hear such a personal history like you just shared with me makes my day. Thank you again for sharing - I first fell in love with Yosemite viewing old pictures from my husband’s grandparents. 😊
I just tried booking for early June and standard guest rooms were a tad under $600, while the Library Suite was around $1400. I first stayed there when a nice room or cottage was $75! ;-)

What is the price difference between a Deluxe King room vs. the Library Suite?
