I have a tall clay chimney pot and am doing a similar thing. It will be interesting to see how well it does
That's a very good idea 👍👍👍 love it.
Great use of old cottons
Thank you. I also use them for storing potatoes like a old sack. Pillow cases are brilliant for it. Perfect size.
Love this idea Ross. I hope you reach your 5000 target this year buddy.
Thank you.
Enjoyed the video thanks 😊
Thank you. 👍
Morning Ross 😁
Good morrow. 👍
I need to have a go at this! Need to put my greenhouse up first mind! 🤣
Nice one Ross👍 Thanks for sharing. Robbo
Your very welcome mate. 👍
I love the idea and I love making compost! If this doesn't heat up as much as you would hope, you may need to make it bigger. A minimum of 1 meter squared is recommended to get a pile good and warm. I'm looking forward to the updates.
I think it should work!
I’m a subscriber from the US. Very good greenhouse compost idea. When you said you were going to turn the camera off to pee on it, I had to laugh. I thought you’d bring a recycled container with the fresh urine to pour it on the compost. I asked my spouse to pee in my compost. He said if I get arrested for being exposed outside I’ll tell the police, it was your hair brained idea.🤣
Lol. I was the only one on our allotment site, so I could pee as nature intended. 😂
Hope you try the compost idea. Keep me posted on your success 👍
@@GrowYourOwnLife well that’s a good thing. Can’t have any walker by’s watching. Going to add pee to the compost now.🤣 Have a wonderful day.😊♻️
I can't wait to try that (not sure if or how I can pee on it😂) love your videos but I don't think I'm getting notification ? Love to you an hour family xx
Thank you. I think you have to click the bell to turn notifications on.👍
Hi Ross, hope your having a nice morning 😁
I was just wondering about the size, I thought for a hot bin it needed to be bigger? I’m interested in seeing the results 😁
Hiya, it's not a "hotbin" your right, if it was ot would need to be bigger and fully insulated to keep the heat inside the bin.
This is basically a compost pile where I want it to generate heat and for it to escape into the greenhouse.... if that makes sense. 👍
@@GrowYourOwnLife I think I get it, awesome idea if it works, might be just the thing to keep the frosts out and it’s small enough to not be in the way 😁
Plan is that once May is here and the frost have gone I can prob put a chilli or tomato plant in there to use the compost like a grow bag.... fingers crossed
So will you put seed trays on top of the box or just use it to raise the greenhouse temps a little 🤔
Yes, maybe. Hopefully ince it's going and really "alive" it should help with a few slightly tender crops. Like early lettuce and beans etc.
I have subscribed! I have been thinking about doing something like this myself, but I’m really worried about attracting rats. We just have a domestic garden with a small greenhouse and we have had problems with rats in the past. So I guess this probably isn’t really a good idea for us! Sadly the insulated I would’ve free hot bins are just way beyond my reach. I would be interested to know though what you could substitute for the chicken poop as we don’t have chickens!
Well... watch the next video because I think I've attracted a a squirrel 🤣 so the negative will be coming soon. 👍
But its definitely heating up. 20c two days ago.
Honestly. All you need is nitrogen. So any greens, grass even human wee. Will give it a boost to get it going.
@@GrowYourOwnLife ooh, in a totally not weird way, what is the poo like? We had something eating our cotoneaster berries leaving a shocking mess, but definitely not rat or bird poo and too high for hedgehogs, so I’m thinking maybe squirrel! TMI? 😂
@@elainemcgovern2144 mice is black grains of rice. Rats is same but much bigger a long orange pip. And squirrel is similar to rats but normally softer and can be longer. Thing a rat that's had a spicy curry. 🤣
That's the oddest reply I've ever written. 🤣🤣🤣
