    With the 2021 Blade 104 v8 Wilson adds another chapter to the most powerful and forgiving Blade. Like previous generations, this powerful Blade doesn't come with any deal-breaking tradeoffs in the control department. With its 104 square inch head, the Blade 104 not only gives you the benefit of a more forgiving and stable hitting area, it also comes with an extended 27.5” length, making it dangerous on serves. For 2021 Wilson keeps the revolutionary layup technology that was originally used in the Blade v7 under the name FeelFlex. It’s now called FortyFive and, in addition to increasing stability, it helps the racquet bend in ways that compliment the modern game.

    I love that Boonie can give an objective review of a racquet that isn’t necessarily in his comfort zone, instead of just saying it’s too light or doesn’t have enough plow. The mark of a true tennis nerd!

    TW: I just ordered this v8 104 from TW. (Gut mains 55; poly cross 52) Since I am a 75 year old, 4.0 singles player, I decided to go bigger, longer and lighter! Hey, this racket might be a godsend!🤣

    So comfortable to play with. Used Luxilon Element forest green strung at 48 pounds. I'm typically a very flat hitter but I was easily generating a lot more spin and had better net clearance than usual. Backhand felt amazing and I was surprised by stability at net.

    This might be an ideal racquet for those who would like to dip their toes into the longbody pond but are a bit hesitant, still.
    The BLADE 104 V8 isn't a full 27.5 inches, it is just a hair over 27 1/3 inches, mine measures 695 mm (27.36 inches).
    And that is counting the protruding red buttcap. Not counting the buttcap the racquet doesn't exceed 27 1/3 inches of length.
    This could be why you may not immediately realize you're hitting with a longbody racquet.
    Another advantage is that this is a very OHBH friendly racquet as well.
    As a comparison: the Babolat Pure Drive Plus is 700 mm or 27.56 inches long. Not a big difference in numbers but a noticable difference when playing.

    Hi tenniswarehouse, will you guys be doing a review of the v8 100 blade? Also when will that racket be available to purchase?

    Is this model glossy or matte? I remember the blade in 2015 was glossy, then they’ve been matte for many years. I can’t tell with this paint job if it’s glossy or matte

    Hello super video, what rackets is better for you in termins of control and conform? Blade 104 v8 , Clash 100 or Gravity S? Your answer is important for me , thanks

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  Год назад

      They are all pretty comfortable. When it comes to control/precision the Clash 100 will have the most, followed by Blade 104 v8, and the Gravity S. Troy, TW

    Hello! How is this compared to the Babolat pure drive plus? In terms of power and spin?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  2 года назад +1

      We would give the slight edge to the Pure Drive Plus in overall power, having a bit more swingweight for plow through, and higher stiffness seems to pack a bit more punch or energy return. So for intermediate to advanced players that like to swing fast, the potential power is a bit higher with the Pure Drive Plus. The Blade 104 v8 is more flexible and comfortable for sure, and is a bit more maneuverable. So for maybe a lower intermediate or below level player, who needs help with racquet head speed and technique, the Blade 104 v8 might make it easier to generate power from a bit more maneuverability, and a more plush/smoother feel on contact. Troy, TW

    Hello. I would like to know if you would recommend this racket to me when I am quite a beginner and I have been on the court about 25 times this season. I tried the Wilson Clash 100 and it wasn't bad but so far I've only played with my insanely hard Wilson hammer 4.2 and I'm a little bothered by how much the Clash springs. And now I'm deciding whether to buy a Clash or a Blade v8 ... I'm a 185cm tall man

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  2 года назад

      This one would likely be a bit more user-friendly for a beginner level player compared to the Blade 98 16x19 v8. Neither are true beginner racquets, which are usually a bit bigger in headsize, but of the two the Blade 104 v8 will be an easier racquet to play with. Maybe some demo racquets to test out will be a good idea, if possible. Troy, TW

    hello! what kind of strings and tension would you recommend for this racket?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  2 года назад +4

      I guess it really comes down to what you are seeking from the string, and preference in feel. We tried it mostly with a poly, like Luxilon ALU Power, or Solinco Hyper-G, around 53 pounds, to help give some added control, and easy spin potential. This racquet is pretty comfortable and flexible, so you can get away with using a poly and not feel like it is too stiff. Those strings also come in softer versions, like Luxilon ALU Power Soft, and Solinco Hyper-G Soft, if you want something a bit more comfortable. If you want to maximize power, and comfort, you could try a full bed of multi, like Wilson NXT Power, or Tecnifibre NRG2, and we'd likely go up a few pounds with those. Lastly, if you want something in between, a hybrid is a great choice, something like Wilson Duo Power, or Duo Control. Some other things to consider would be, do you break strings often? Do you have a history of arm issues? Which strings are you used to playing with? Troy, TW

    How do you compare it vs a Pro Staff L (290gr)

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  2 года назад

      The two racquets are similar in weight and fairly close in maneuverability or swingweight, but the Pro Staff 97L offers more control, and precision, whereas this Blade 104 v8 provides easier power, a bigger sweet-spot, and a little extra leverage from the 27.5" length. Troy, TW

    • @tenniswarehouse

      @Steph H.,
      Our playtesters found them to have similar levels of power, with the Blade 104 having more control than they expected it to! Both are great options for players looking for controllable power.
