    Falcon 9 took more than several attempt to land it’s first stage. The fact that Super-Heavy landed in the first attempt is insane.

    • @theplouf5533
      @theplouf5533 3 месяца назад +17

      It's technically easier. The forces involved are on a larger scale, but the math is the same. Plus the tower that stays at a fixed point, and the engines that can get a stationary speed (so more range of adjustments during the approach).

      I think because Super Heavy booster can hover, allows it to achieve the goal easier. However, absolutely insane!

      3 Superheavy boosters blew up before a successful landing. One before staging, one during boostback startup, and one at landing burn startup First attempt at a catch though.....

    This is certainly interesting, the creator can be congratulated on his success, but I still don't understand what is the point of this overcomplicated system with an increased risk of failures? Even if each subsequent launch is cheaper, but also more risky. This definitely does not fit into my logic. It looks more like the company makes a profit only at the expense of the shares sold.)))

      It proves that a trip to orbit with two literal 747's worth in weight of cargo (and that weight can include people) can now cost less then the standard fair of a fully loaded 747 flown from New York to LA and still remain profitable for spaceX. Basically SpaceX can now launch 10 ISS space stations for less than the cost of building the Original ISS. Which means we can get space stations like in Enders Game for the same cost of the current ISS (adjusted for inflation). Design and assembly is now the main hurdle, getting it to orbit is no longer a problem. It also means that the future cost to send a 747 worth of cargo to mars or Venus or even large payloads to the asteroid belt have just been cut by 3/4 what they were.
