- Here, we’ll look at some common weak acid equilibrium problems. For more resources, check out tdwscience.com/apchem
Equilibrium questions are some of the most common problems to show up in the free response section of the AP Chemistry text. These weak acid equilibrium problems involve calculating the Ka or acid dissociation constant, and then completing an ICE table, to determine the initial, change, and equilibrium concentrations of the acid and the conjugate base. We then use the Henderson Hasselbalch equation to solve for the concentration of buffer components. This is a calculation that involves the pH as well as the pKa. This buffer solution was made by mixing a weak acid (formic acid) with the sodium salt of its conjugate base.

Homie, you're back? Your earliest videos got me a 98 in my first Chemistry course and now I'm almost done my lab tech course. Cool to see you back on RUclips.
Congrats bro 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Same got a 98 from his videos, god bless him
Right! Miss the paper quality though--the green screened hands will take some getting used to
Used to watch your videos back in high school!
Now I have graduated from university. Just want to say a massive thank you for making those videos back in the days.
sir, im from india , im following you since my 5th standard. now im 12th standard and preparing for JEE exam .I came back to learn redox reactions from your video of 5 years ago. I just wanted to checkout how my old teacher is doing now and came to checkout your latest video and im glad that you never left youtube, you are still teaching with same energy from 15 years on youtube. btw you look soo young.
It's been a while since i started referring ur videos for my studies...
It's very helpful
Thank u for bringing up such contents
Thank u❤
Passed my last required college chem class a year or two back. Thank you for everything! I’m never coming back!
“I’m never coming back” got me 😂😂
No wayyyy!! Tyler welcome back dude!!! My man, you're the reason why I loved chemistry.
So nice to see you back!!!!!!you are the best I learned from your videos more than college.
Thank you. After watching your TEDtalks, it's made me all the more grateful for your contribution to science education.
Youa re the best chemistry teacher in the world you deserve an award
One of the best Teachers around Respect from Trinidad.
I did my igsce and As level 4 years ago from watching your videos. Coming back and just saying thank you very much. Hope you keep making video for the kids who were in my position .
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
you helped me a lot when i was about to do my national exam 4 years ago. i didn't end up taking chemistry in uni and i'm currently doing my capstone project but you saved me and i couldn't thank you enough for it
Oh THANK GOD hes here! I made it through gen chem with his 10 year old videos and im back!
Single handedly carried me through college chem.
Sir, can you make a detail video on working of dry cell used in homes?
I will be very thankful to you if you do this.
Could you make a video about the IX oxidation state?
U still alive I love u man
Oh you're back buddy ? Good to see ya
Hi Tyler I understand your explanation better than our professor😅
I'm Psychology student but we are required to study chemistry. Thanks to you 😉
im in university now and i dont take chem anymore but thanks for helping me get through high school
Taking my AP chem test in a week from now. Major W vid
Best of luck!
@@tdewitt451 Thank you!
@@tdewitt451 Hello Tyler, We have been watching your videos on electrochemistry (galvanic/voltaic cells, electrolysis, etc.). Very good.
Would you be able to create a very detailed video explaining the chemistry of lead-acid batteries, with all relevant equations. The aim is to understand exactly how and why lead-(sulfuric) acid batteries deteriorate to the point of not being able to ‘hold’ charge any longer. A large part of the problem seems to be related to the state quality? / quantity? of the electrolyte.
We're happy that you are back 💪
omgg i loveee all the new videos! i keep sending them to my sister in AP chem haha
the king is back
Welcome back
Thank you as always you make seem so simple
return of the king! 👑
Please do some more AP topics🙏😭 Cape Unit 1 chemistry (Caribbean A Levels)
I don't take chemistry I just enjoy looking at you
Your video were really helpful to me but I'm no more in highschool now.
Why don’t we put H2O in the ICE table? does it means it does not take part in the reaction?
Because it is liquid and it is not in the Ka expression.
Hi Tyler! This video really helped me, thank you (:
Also, for part b is it possible to just use -lg sqrt (Ka x [H+]) as a short cut? Instead of doing the ICE table? Since [H+] is 0.15 anyway
Thank you!
Always just use the regular formula, you need not to remember all the shortcuts. The major formula could make several shortcuts according to the asked thing in the question.
9:07 why is x negligible? is it a chemistry concept thing (a small Ka would lead to small amount of change) or something more related to arithmetic (since the whole Ka equation is equal to 1.78 x 10^-4, a small value)
You're onto it. Because Ka is so small, we know that the reaction is highly reactant favored, so X has to be very small.
Hey,
I'm from another region
Can anyone tell me which grade student appeared in this AP exam???
so what's the answer to question a?
You gotta watch the video! It’s at 3:41
I made it to med school thanks to you ❤
Oh man congrats! I’m in AP chem right now and want to get into med school
teacher I need a lesson about electronic configuration
Do they kidnap ya if we don't use ® with AP ¿
Worse than kidnap. Seriously, the college board is brutal.
@@tdewitt451 😂😅
But thank you teacher for the content that ya have created over the years to teach me and everyone in an interesting way in which we could easily understand.
💛💚♥️❤️💖💝💗
(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Me have watched your videos in 2017 in my 10th (class) for those oxidation and Redox and inorganic and electrochemistry and VSPER and balancing equations and physical chemistry and all ! And 2018,19,20 for my 11th and 12th.
And thank you for the effort to create all these cut-outs and setup for the camera and the preparation to teach the concepts
(*´ω`*) ( ╹▽╹ )
And also thank you for the reply. This is just a temporary account. I came here just to subscribe to ya and to check ya out. Watched this video for fun.
Lots to chat and all, one day i will type nicely one day. Me not having the mood for long. Even this i am hesitant to type but how could I not
So many things to ask like how ya doing, why ya created this and took all this effort for us?, any video games that ya play?, Breaking Bad ? And what is an AP exam ( quick search over the years never got my answer, even today. I don't want ya to answer cuz me don't wanna waste your time. A deep search will do. One day i will. ) And list of educational books to read for knowledge, fun and for literature etc questions and such
None of the above i don't want ya to answer right now. Just saying. Will ask one day.
Except please do tell about the best books for chemistry ?
@@tdewitt451 please do tell about the best books for chemistry ?
@@tdewitt451 and also, why do companies want those ® & © ?
seen it in places
i am from India btw, that's why 😅
bro what
The legend is back!!!!!
Aw man... it's always nice to see you 😍😊
Your videos made me understand one of the most confusing chemistry topics that I graduated top of my class. All thanks to you man ❤💯🙏🏾
No one comments on this video, just about the old god back lol
damn, finally! I have been waiting for your uploads. thank you so much sir......
its been really helpful
Its really difficult to express my gratitude in words. You are amazing.
Miss you man, i wanna say thank you your old vids helped alot in school. God bless you
Nice to see you again
Hello! I was wondering if you could make a video on isomers-especially stereoisomers (because I find them the most confusing and I think other ppl too). Thanks!
This dude helped me pass my prerequisites with good grades. Now i got a bachelors because of that. Keep it up man.
Yoooooo! So great to see you’re back! Used to watch your vids for my intro chemistry courses lol im now applying for PA school! Ty!! 🥰🥰
Very Nice Explanation... i am 1st view... i feel so happy..
Dear Tyler y u no uploading videos on regular basis.
The boss is back
Tyler DeChad
I THOUGHT I COULD DO THIS PROBLEM IN A FLASH ...IT TURNED OUT THAT YOU REALLY NEED TO BE VERY CAREFUL ..
The Man. The Legend. 💯
Thanks very clear
Legends never die!!
