I listen to a lot of books, I am finding these series are really enjoyable, hard to stop, hillarious, it is like I can picture the story in my mind and eager to hear the next line.
The diversity of voices used in narration can add so much depth and richness to a story, bringing different perspectives and enhancing the overall experience. The richness and maturity of the narrator lend a sense of authenticity and credibility to the character. For instance, the nuanced, mature tone of the narrator’s voice effectively conveys the character’s extensive life experience and resilience. She mentions that she has been on her own for a long time, and while it's challenging to pinpoint her exact age from her voice alone, the depth and texture suggest a history of overcoming challenges and gaining wisdom. This vocal characterization helps to create a vivid mental image of the character, making her journey more compelling and relatable for the listener.
I liked it. As for the voice, I went to school with someone who sounded much like her. It helped me picture her better. Also, she kept distrusting him but what people fail to understand about people who go through hell can very well trust differently. As for voice, I used to sound much differently over the years from too chipper to dude like to what it sounds like now. Never having a feminine voice per se.
Correction to my last comment about this being my favotite book. It meant it was my favorite of this series of The Bourbon Street Boys Books. All of them made me laugh, but this one I liked the best. Tameka was my favorite of the four women. Toni was least likable and Jennie kind of grew on me.
Chadon you really need to re download this one it keep getting repeats and is quite annoying. The other books in the series are fine. And thanks for downloading them.
I love this series except for Tony and Meka. Meka could have been so much better. All her secrets got old fast. Im hoping to make it through the book. Not sure if i can.
Really enjoying this series, and whilst I agree with the voice in this one being to old for a young woman I forgot that once the stroy really got gping. But why oh why do women narrators get a hard time in all books, to me her voice is no different than Aiden Snow and Sebastion York, both have voices far older than the men they are reading about but everyone swoons over them but to me when they are reading about making love to a very young women it goves me the creeps.
Like other commenters, I too discarded the book after 4 min. In. Wrong narrator. Woman sounds too old and just not an interesting listen because of this.
Worst book of the series. She was way too whiny and absolutely no reason for distrusting the man who has saved you time and again for no benefit to him
The only thing wrong with the narration of this book is the fact that she sounded too black for some of you and it ruined your ability to imagine your dream self in the role of the lead female...🙄😒 Just tell the truth and stop making excuses.
Thank you. Racist white people in the comment section losing their minds because the Author wrote a book with an African American character in it and included an African American narrator for that character. White narrators reading for white characters..no problem but allowing other Races to be in a book and be narrated by someone of the same Race is a problem for their ears. They would rather have a white person narrating for an African American so they can pretend she's white. The level of ignorance in the comment section is disgusting but typical.
I strongly disagree with you. The color has nothing to do with it. The first three books you hear their voice one way and then the last book, it completely goes the opposite direction. When listening to it, I thought I had clicked on the wrong book or that someone put the wrong title to it. It wasn’t till I skipped through it and then went back, that I realized it was still the same series. It was a complete throw off. Still is
While it’s definitely possible some people feel like that, I don’t think that’s necessarily true. At least not for everyone. For myself, since I am also a black woman, I felt excited about a black woman narrator and tried to give it a chance but it’s specifically her narration that I don’t like… She really does sound middle-aged. I am in my mid 20’s like the character is supposed to be, and literally nobody my age sounds like this, I feel like it’s being narrated by one of my aunts in her late 40s or 50s. Secondly, I just can’t get over her lisp. I try, but I always give up on audiobooks where the narrator has a lisp no matter the gender and race/ethnicity. Just putting my personal point of view out there in case it can help you come up with a different perspective
Why hire a black narrator sound to a non black characters? I searched the narrator. She is not black so why confuse the readers? It is so different and sounds strange
@@nikiia Ok then try this book and see if you like it. "Takeover" by Evelyn sola. See how confusing. If the narrator does a bad job than it's a bad job
I listen to a lot of books, I am finding these series are really enjoyable, hard to stop, hillarious, it is like I can picture the story in my mind and eager to hear the next line.
I like the story and the series. I like the use of different narrators because it makes the stories more personal to the lead character.
Exactly.

Not sure how I feel about the narrator but I’m not complaining the story line so far is pretty interesting!! Thanks for uploading
This was my favorite book. The narrator sounds older then 27 years old.
I liked it. As for the voice, I went to school with someone who sounded much like her. It helped me picture her better.

I like the lady reading... But I miss the original accents... Great 📚 book...
It's my first time reabing this series, anb it is asome!❤🎉
So much for Tivo's New Orleans accent.. RIP.. First narrator of first book nailed the accent hella better.
another fantastic book in this series! I couldn't stop listening! Great job! Subscribed!

I really couldn't wait till this book was over.
Also previous book tonni and tibo as cajuns. So confusing
I love this series except for Tony and Meka. Meka could have been so much better. All her secrets got old fast. Im hoping to make it through the book. Not sure if i can.

Like the story, but the narrator voice for the story, not really
Love the book thank you
The narrator sounds old, like in her 40's
This is the first book in the series that has a stuttering thing that is irritating 😑 😢
Like other commenters, I too discarded the book after 4 min. In. Wrong narrator. Woman sounds too old and just not an interesting listen because of this.
I don't like the book. Wrong narrator. she sounds bad and to deep.
I don’t like this Mika, she’s so rude and defensive.
Worst book of the series. She was way too whiny and absolutely no reason for distrusting the man who has saved you time and again for no benefit to him
I like the story, but the narrator sounds too old, has a lisp, and puts no more emotion into it than AI.
All the lady’s had a lisp. I thought I was going crazy but I listened to them all again. But I didn’t mind it
It’s because it’s the same narrator doing all of the voices.
The only thing wrong with the narration of this book is the fact that she sounded too black for some of you and it ruined your ability to imagine your dream self in the role of the lead female...🙄😒

Always got to be someone playing the race card. SMFH🤦♀️
I actually agree.

The narrarator really ruins this story. She sounds too old and just wrong.
I agree
2:18 she is annoying is hard to listening 😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬😡
0:48 sounds like an old bag who's lost dentures
I’ll want to listen to this but the narrator voice is not pleasing and that actitud of the women.
I agree

You sound ridiculous

Her name is Tamika. She says she is dark in complexion. 🤷♀️
