This was my childhood..... so weird to see it now. But generally I find that it hasn't lost its essence even with the changes. So nice to Black Stallion, Stone Crusher, Avenger, El Toro Loco still around.....
I agree in some ways, it feels if you took the essence of monster jam, and diluted it

I miss the old Monster Jam. This is boring. Where are the car wrecks? Jumping over buses, semi-trailers, motorhomes? Now I'd rather look at 10-year-old footage.
And where are the profesional judges...
It is al because of the money.... feld is so rich but they wont spend anything on crush cars busses rv and stuff only if they can make money its cool in their eyes.... i miss the old days of MJ everything got crushed that is what monster jam was all about

My son and I love Gravedigger and you can see a model set outside if you’re ever headed to the OBX in NC! That aside, MAX-D does do amazing switches from front to back wheelies! 😳.

Wow. This is the first show of 2020 I watched cause I was there. Way up in the nosebleed section cause we didn't get tickets until the day of the show. But some major information missing from the description.
The show took place on Saturday January 18th 2020. So we're almost a full year from the show happening to the episode being released.
Also, what's up with the audio mixing? The joy of monster trucks is to hear the massive engines power through as they're racing together and instead it's just audio commentary trying to act like it's live but this being an almost year old show the VO work was done well after the fact. Get back to the roots, have the audio LOUD and react after, filling in with mechanical issues after that were known after the event and don't guess during.
Why isn't the timer shown during the freestyle section? And they're all out of order. First one to go is MM Rottweiler but you can see Wizard parked facing forward because of the front wheel damage and Wizard starts off from near the tunnel facing the field. With Over Bored you see Wizard parked backed in as well at the end of the run. I think I remember that being an early one because it's a less known truck.
And then not showing the entire Freestyle! Just clips of the other trucks. So are you guys saying it's not worth it to see these trucks in person? Visual style it's really not and clearly you're killing the sound as well. So are stadium shows worth it to long time fans of the sport?

Do these guys get any kind of prize money? Throwing around $500,000+ trucks is a pretty expensive exercise, even with sponsors picking up some of the costs.
No. There’s no purse so to speak. Not like back in the late 80’s or early 90’s. Most of the trucks are owned by Feld Entertainment which owns Monster Jam so really it’s more bragging rights among the drivers

The constant bland banter from the commentators is definitely not necessary. "Thats a great first jump and he turns it around and heads back in for another" ya, thanks for the clarification. I'm sure everyone would rather hear the TRUCKS than useless comments like that! Theres rarely even one second when these two aren't blabbering on about nothing. That being said I still like monster jam, just mute the vid and play music since i cant really hear the engine sound anyway.
At this point, turn to older events and the community. I did that before I got back into monster trucks, so my hatred is a bit less

Austin kaustz is so annoying he was typing in the livestream I hate monster jam it is like poop so everyone decided to roast him and make fun of Him lol
I’ve been going to MJ for 13 years and watched a bunch of clips from before that time. I miss the authenticity. I enjoy the added tricks that trucks do now, but the entire course being dirt is a joke.
On top of that, these broadcasts don’t even pretend to be live anymore. You can’t hear the trucks as much as you used to and the commentary is too loud and bland. Scott Douglass was always great at making it seem like he was a fan watching it live and bringing excitement and passion to the broadcast. These feel so cookie cutter and uninterested.
Additionally, I remember back when I started following MJ when shows were all about drivers simply going out and throwing down a great run. Having real judges made everything feel more real and professional, whereas fan voting just doesn’t bring that same energy. It just feels like MJ is more fabricated now than it used to be.
Maybe I am just someone who doesn’t like the direction things are going but I want to be back to a time when doing a backflip was an unforseen skill move, not something featured in practically all the runs

@M Pro. agreed. Another thing nobody talks about (though it may just be industrial amounts of OCD) is how now there is 14 trucks per event, like what was wrong with 16? A number that cleanly divides. Also yes, the overuse of dirt and underuse of cars, and the fan voting, oh god the fan voting. That’s the worst part by far. Bring back the old judges
