    hi Adam, so today I was flying on vatsim from EGKK, i was SAS804 departing from runway 08L and i caused a runway incursion while on TWR 124.225 the controller’s name was James something, if by any chance you know him please let him know that I apologise, it was very busy at the moment of the incursion and i could have caused a lot of problems. let him know that i’m new to vatsim and I’m still learning. thank you very much 🙏

      but i have to admit that in gatwick it’s something that happens very often. yesterday i had to perform 2 go around a in a row , the first one because i was unstable on final because of bad vectoring by the approach controller and the second one because of a runway incursion

    • @samiturk5975

      if ATC is online then a runway incursion is almost always 100% the pilots fault

      As one of these replies said, if ATC is online the incursion is 100% their fault, unless you have ignored their instructions. 08L barely ever used.

    VFR circuits in a cessna at EGKK 😂😂😂😂😂😂 what a menace lol. Whenever I fly out of gatwick theres always at least one clueless person for entertainment, someone asked for IFR clearance to Gatwick... while on the ramp at Gatwick. They then promptly disconnected. Fun times.

    Have there been proposals for requiring approval to connect to VATSIM - like you propose to connect at EGKK stand 21, and the controller covering clearance (top-down, so might be ground, twr, etc) can deny your connection as the stand is occupied. or you propose to connect on the 26L threshold and are denied, or you propose joining in a C172 in the middle of an event and are denied... if there's no controller then connections automatically accept as they do now?

    Why does Gatwick only use a single runway instead of dividing some if not all departures to 26R? I understand some aircraft can’t use shorter runways. Do most aircraft need 26L, so it is easier to not use 26R at all?

    • @thevatsimcontroller
      @thevatsimcontroller  Год назад +3

      IRL, the northern runway is not used because it has no ILS or RNAV capability. It is practically decommissioned in real life.

    • @benr970
      @benr970 Год назад +1

      Can’t use the two runways simultaneously either. If an aircraft landed on 26L it would have to hold on the runway until the 26R aircraft had taken off. This would be way to slow for gatwick

    That other person has an unusual voice (to me). Must be a regional thing (I am from germany). That voice sounded very british.
    Why does Vatsim name its admins/leaders 'board of directors' anyway? Old men trying to seem like corporation CEOs?
    Is there a tutorial video that explains specific airports and their runways and such? I always find it very confusing when it is about the taxiways and where to go, so I haven't yet dared to step into Vatsim. It is too intimidating.

    • @thevatsimcontroller
      @thevatsimcontroller  Год назад +1

      He sounds British because we are British and controlling in UK airspace. 95% of UK controllers are British, hence the accent 😆 As for your second question, it’s because they are the board of directors. They are in charge of hundreds of controllers, hundreds of training controllers, and thousands of pilots. VATSIM needs an organised structure in order to operate.
      And no there is no video. All information can be found on charts. Keep practicing and watching RUclips videos.
