Seeing Justine as a manipulator... There's gotta be some award for missing the point of a movie by several solar systems... 😁it's kind of spectacular, to be fair. (And no, I'm not talking from an arrogant "sovereignty of interpretation" viewpoint. This movie is NOT a Lynch movie. It's pretty on the nose, and almost everybody gets it. Lars von Trier has talked about its meaning extensively.)
00:00 Intro 00:22 Why all the fuss around Justine? 00:47 Justine’s helpless husband Michael 01:47 Justine enjoys obstacles 03:21 Claire never learns not to make arrangements with her sister 04:35 Claire’s husband John 05:52 Ungrateful sisters 06:31 Claire is still trying to fix their broken family 08:14 Claire ignoring the problems in her own marriage 10:12 Claire still craves what she didn’t have in her childhood
I feel like you didn't watch the second half of the movie, at all. This take is so far off the mark. I suggest you rewatch the scene of Claire trying to bathe Justine and then think about your assessment again and how easily you dismiss people caring for their family. Also, as someone who went through a significant depressive bout and was similarly cared for in the home of my sibling and his wife and young son, I can assure you that loved ones not giving up their family members literally saves lives. Every day.
@@goodbadbill If you allow a different take, you'd have to allow criticism, too. ...do you really think Justine is doing what she's doing to manipulate other people?
I don't think the film is asking the audience their opinions on what the characters "should have done". Especially not in the context of pleasing their husbands. What a weird take.
Justine indicates she's clairvoyant. She tries hard to put on a happy face at a wedding that has no significance in light of the upcoming death of everything. The folks at the wedding are rich and privileged, who laugh at the news the world's about to end. They believe Claire's husband. That's how I saw the movie.
You spent so much time with the details of the human interaction of the movie without mentioning once the real outcome of the movie! The end of the world!! Why?
I congratulate you for reading deeply into a movie that in my opinion gave such a poor execution, you really heightened this movie, almost make me feel as it was indeed a great one.

Tell me you don’t understand major depressive disorder without telling me.
God forbid someone having a different take on a movie. I've been suffering from depression since my divorce but I enjoyed this video and theory.

This movie is about everything but Justine.
Justine indicates she's clairvoyant. She tries hard to put on a happy face at a wedding that has no significance in light of the upcoming death of everything. this analysis is: depressed people cause constant problems to those arround them.
done 🙏🏻
why care for justine or try to understand her right?
uh, depression?
Oh wow this analysis shows how so many people can be this dumb about understanding depression.
You spent so much time with the details of the human interaction of the movie without mentioning once the real outcome of the movie! The end of the world!! Why?
because I'm interested in human interaction, I do this in every video :)
@@filmsandmovieschannel very poorly in this case.
This analysis was good
Good analysis, this movie is less talked!
Pretty based take! Justine is a psychopath

There are mainly two groups of people.
1. those who give this movie a 10 out of 10.
2. those who never experienced severe depression.
saw the movie soooo differently after this take lol
