Your cows are pretty tame and you can see they are used to being handled. Good work. Even dairy cows can get ornery, I remember my uncle and grandfather almost getting run over by a mean cow in 1976 when I was a young boy.
The perfect tool to clear your robot paths is a quick-attach sweeper for your skid steer. Buy one with the power angle option, and you'll be happy. Work with the wind and the rotating brush angled with the wind, and it will clean off in one pass. Mind you, you still have the snow it's just in your driveway now, but for a quick cleaning of the paths, it's the ticket. Try not to use salt, use ice melter only when you have to. Cheers to all. 🇨🇦
Great idea putting the snow stops on the roof to protect things below. You never know anymore what kind of weather is going to come up. This video was very interesting, thanks for posting it. Could you give an update in how the solar panel system has been working for you?
Interesting. For bigger snows, I would think you could use the skid steer or shovel on each side of the metal strip. Also, I am amazed how easily your cattle load onto the trailer. You have a great system for promoting young stock.
Ain't that the truth. I bought a snowmobile 2 years ago and I still haven't got enough snow to ride it !! I'm afraid to sell it though because I'll probably get a blizzard the next day !! Lol
We had a blizzard here in KS, so I hope your area doesn’t get one of those. If they make a rotary brush for your skid steer, that seems like a great solution to your snow problem should you get lots of snow quickly. Good luck for the rest of this winter!
Our family's 800 dairy cattle and 800 youngstock sold just over 2 years ago. Dad retired, brothers switched to 75 cow/calf pair of beefers and new-to-them crops. Do you take aseptic milk samples, strike on bi or tri-plates, incubate, and read growth to determine appropriate therapudic treatments, when needed? You use more high tech than we did. Although, we used a computerized feeder in the 80's in a tiestall barn, when we milked 112 head. We used flush alleys and reclaimed sand bedding in our manure system built in 04/05. Neat to see different ways of doing the work!
20 plus years of cleaning sidewalks at a medical hospital taught me the easiest/fastest method is an old(cheap) zero turn mower with a brush sweeper angled slightly to the right.
Hey, from NC! Always enjoy your videos. They are so interesting. The snow is so pretty. You asked a couple of videos back for suggestions of things your viewers might want to see for a video. Not growing up on a farm, could you possibly show the entirety of a calf being born? Blessings to you and your family.
You should cut your concrete under the strip simular machine that you use for cutting concretu for cows for grip, and then move the strip lower for 1 or 2 cm just enough so you can use skeed stear bucket to clean snow. Love the videos
You do understand that the tracks are mounted on the surface of the concrete for a reason right?? The sensors on the Vectors have to stay in contact with the tracks so the Vectors know where to go and when to go there. Without that connection, the Vectors shut down, the cows become very unhappy and Eric becomes even more unhappy.
@PartyOf8Please there isn't tracking inside the barn or in front of the heifers. Why doesn't the robot shut down? Also if it did need contact, could you not lower the sensor on the machine to reach the strip if it was recessed in the concrete.
Id watch the auctions for a different sweeper from what you have . One without the catch box. Or try to find a ride on sweeper. At least look into it I feel it would help with the fluffy deep snow that comes thu. Not my money tho so 🤷 whatever you figure out works 😂
Seems like a brush for your skid steer would do a good job with the snow. Can you take off the collector/dust pan on the brush attachment you used to clean the pits with?
Dear Eric @10thgenerationdairyman - the bots you used for yard/floor scraping would be ideal for clearing the snow before the feed robots travel. what think? would they need a wider scraping skirt?
the robots seem to work well in light snow. question instead of the leaf blower, can't you use the power brush on the skid steer, or would that hurt the strips?
Eric, be prepared storm is on its way high winds and snow drifts . Hope you got a shovel or brush for skid skier to take snow off of the tracks for robot feeders. I know you got a heat built in on cement tracks.
Really like your channel, was wondering if you could go thru the process of the milk truck and such, where they hook up and the total haul out process maybe it isn't a big deal enough to show, thanks
I think less milk drips with those GEA milked units. You did a thorough job when changing out the inflations. I am always impressed with your parlour hygiene - clean inside and outside. With all the complexities of the milking system when you think about it the inflations are the only part that touches the teats. So money well spent to swap out inflations. With robot milkers it is surprising how often inflations are to be changed. Not many units so each does a lot.
Our dealer has us running our skirt down all the time, even in the inside. It always keeps the concrete clean and doesn't seem to wear skirt that much.
Pssst....blower? Chk out a roller broom attachment to your 4wheeler, like they sweep the parking lots with and don't require a PTO, the have drive gears on the wheels...chk it out
So the cows get a two month break between calving? When calves are born, how long do they get to feed from mom or do you milk the moms and feed them formula. Just trying to be educated.
Eric, Just a curious question, With your current parlor set up, about how many cows would you be able to handle per day utilizing your current milking schedule I think you said you run 200 head right now. Do you feel you're maxed out, or could you handle another 100. Just curious. Great update. Really like the PM you and your dad do on the equipment. Another behind the scene activity we wouldn't normally think about. 👍
Enjoy the slower time with your family! I may have missed it, but would like to see/hear about how the new house is working out.
I respect how clean and orderly your farm is
Always enjoy your stuff. As a non-farmer/dairy man I find whatever you show as interesting.
Your cows are pretty tame and you can see they are used to being handled. Good work. Even dairy cows can get ornery, I remember my uncle and grandfather almost getting run over by a mean cow in 1976 when I was a young boy.
9:00 Need to invest in a round spin brush for the skid steer to clear those tracks off. That blower is gonna get old real fast.
Was thinking the same thing
Use the bunker sweep in reverse.
Tom Pemberton should watch this video on how to move animals round the farm. No shouting, whistling or stupid sounds, just calm energy!
Have you thought about a brush attachment for the skid steer
Yeah, I mentioned that weeks ago when I started seeing gravel on the concrete.
Took the words out of my mouth.
Yeah I came here to say that😂
They used to have one to sweep the bunks with I believe.
They have a rotary brush for the skid steer,, they are still in the testing stage of what knots !!

Broom on your skid loader sweeps snow of concrete very well
Your cows look so fluffy and warm. .. and clean!!!!❤️🙏🇺🇲

4:44 awe she's got socks on her feets! She's so cute but so stubborn 😅
Interesting. For bigger snows, I would think you could use the skid steer or shovel on each side of the metal strip. Also, I am amazed how easily your cattle load onto the trailer. You have a great system for promoting young stock.
There's always one in every group that has to be difficult
Eric your milking parlour is a credit to you and your dad.
it sucks
Should look into getting a rotary brush attachment for skid steer for cleaning snow. They also make hand held ones too.
You might not get heavy snow very often, but now that you put the snow guards on, you'll never get heavy snow. 😄
Exactly!
Ain't that the truth. I bought a snowmobile 2 years ago and I still haven't got enough snow to ride it !! I'm afraid to sell it though because I'll probably get a blizzard the next day !! Lol
Yea I was thinking about a broom for the skid streer too, But more money I know. Farm looks so pretty all white!!
Unless they sold it, they have one.

Thanks for the robot update
13:18 A cat! We don't see enough of the farm cats. I was beginning to think you only had the cute little dog.
Good eyes!
I just had to check it out,,lol
@ I never miss the kitties! At least, I don't think I have.
Looks like things are going along nicely.
6 feet on the level in Upstate NY. Cows love it actually😊😊
The robots seam to be working out the way you expected. Thanks for sharing
Enjoyed watching, thanks!
Hi good afternoon to 10th generation from Indiana
Hi Eric Happy new Year I am a fan of your vidéo, farm work always excellent . Denis from Québec Canada

Nice to see the little cat taking advice from Eric. 13:11
he is a milk consultant
A comment about a little cat is the surest way to get me to watch a video. 😻
Good afternoon Thanks for the video Eric 🙏
Would love to see a production change over time for your farm with the changes you have been making over the last decade or so
Thanks for sharing. Be safe. Stay well. Stay warm. Victor, Central Arkansas
Looking in to my crystal ball.... I see a tractor or skid loader mounted rotary broom in your future!

Put a sweeper brush on the skidsteer for the snow

get one of those walk behind shovels that has wheels. that will help alot.
Great video brother from the imperial county ca 🚜🇺🇲 and stay warm
Have a good winter Eric, winters can get long!
A power brush attachment for a small tractor or skid steer would be the way.to go for the feeder roads.
Id watch the auctions for a different sweeper from what you have . One without the catch box. Or try to find a ride on sweeper. At least look into it I feel it would help with the fluffy deep snow that comes thu. Not my money tho so 🤷 whatever you figure out works 😂
Maybe get a sweeper broom implement to clear the cement of snow?
❤ YOU ERIC ❤
You need to get a brush attachment for your skid steer. They work great!
Beautiful ballet; synchronized too. Go team :)
Need an angle broom for the skid steer
Stihl Yard Boss > or other multi task tools with < attachments like: KW-MM STIHL PowerSweep™ Attachment, KB - KM Bristle Brush
If you still have the brush bucket from cleaning out the bunks just run it backwards and brush the paths. Done in 3 mins.
If that little bit of snow is enough to cause trouble, keeping the paths clear will be a big job if you get a snowy windy spell.
But you are only guessing.....
i would get a broom brush for the skid steer also maybe consider using a brine for ice control
Send them the money to buy one
Seems like a brush for your skid steer would do a good job with the snow. Can you take off the collector/dust pan on the brush attachment you used to clean the pits with?
Have you ever thought about adding another barn and have more milk cows?
Always interesting. Stay warm. Stay safe. ❤❤❤❤
Invest in a Rotating Brush operated by a Hydraulic Orbital motor on the Bobcat for Lane Conveyor!
Excellent Video!!
How about a rotary brush attachment for your skid steer??
Dear Eric @10thgenerationdairyman - the bots you used for yard/floor scraping would be ideal for clearing the snow before the feed robots travel. what think? would they need a wider scraping skirt?
Wonder if a rotating brush attachment for a skid loader might help and allow you to quickly run up the paths a few times a day?
Maybe a broom kit for the skid steer? I see lots of folks sweeping sidewalks with them.
So?
the robots seem to work well in light snow. question instead of the leaf blower, can't you use the power brush on the skid steer, or would that hurt the strips?
should get broom for skid steer for snow and gravel removal
Maybe buy a street sweeper for the skid steer.
Hi, Eric!
You need a blower that hooks up to your tractor pto or they have stand on ones also
Love the video much love and respect thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Put some tire chains on the wheels!
E, you haven’t mentioned the solar array in a long time. How has it been performing?
Regards, Ed
Eric, be prepared storm is on its way high winds and snow drifts . Hope you got a shovel or brush for skid skier to take snow off of the tracks for robot feeders. I know you got a heat built in on cement tracks.
dont u guys have a sweeper implment for the tractor that u can use on the snow?
thought you had broom that went on skiddy for sweeping the silage bins
Really like your channel, was wondering if you could go thru the process of the milk truck and such, where they hook up and the total haul out process maybe it isn't a big deal enough to show, thanks
I agree but the milk truck comes at 2am. Might be too early, even for a farmer
Get a broom attachment for your skidloader to take care of your concrete.
Send them the money to buy one
Power broom should work well and fast
I think less milk drips with those GEA milked units. You did a thorough job when changing out the inflations. I am always impressed with your parlour hygiene - clean inside and outside. ever thought about putting low quality hay or staw in the harvstore silo ?
Pssst....blower? Chk out a roller broom attachment to your 4wheeler,
like they sweep the parking lots with and don't require a PTO, the have drive gears on the wheels...chk it out
Maybe take a barn scraper and walk both sides of the strip; it'll go fast and then you'd only have to blow the strip itself.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Another Great Video 👍 Great content, keep up the great work!
Maybe a street broom attachment for the skid steer?
Could you use your current concrete sweeper broom and just take the hopper off of it to clean the paths?
So the cows get a two month break between calving? When calves are born, how long do they get to feed from mom or do you milk the moms and feed them formula. Just trying to be educated.
Hey eric, Can we get an tour of all the machinery you have and all the acres that whoud becawsome.
get a broom for the skid steer
I see maybe a sweeper in your future
Good one.
Mount a rotating brush to your skid steer to clean the paths?
Do cows ever kick ( buck) backwards!?
Idea: What about brush roller attachment for the skid steer?
Send them the money to buy one
The clips will just break up the snow so it dosen't come off in large frozen sheets.
I wonder if chains would be an option? Like cable chain.
Good morning
Eric,
Just a curious question,

you need a rotary broom for the Kubota.
Milwaukee brush attachment or the paddles?
Nice video as always
