- Hey! I filmed part of my day as a Law Student at the University of Durham and thought I'd make a video from it.

Hi, I really enjoyed the video! I I am starting LLB law this year. I noticed that you were using a desktop/ laptop/ iPad for your work. Would you say it’s better to do your work digitally? Is it helpful to have multiple devices? Also, are your exams written or typed? Thanks :)
Exams are typed this year but usually written. I prefer digital work but each to their own, there’s a lot of evidence that writing helps memorise information but for me I’m not trying to memorise yet at the note taking step! The ability to search and edit notes easily is very important to me. I’m very privileged and lucky to have all my devices, if I didn’t I’d make do with whatever I had and only buy new things like an iPad if I really thought it would I,prove some aspect of my studying! Hope that helps.

Hey bro, I have a question if that’s cool. I’m in year 12 and just got my AS results back ( I’m from Wales so it’s split into AS first etc) and I got 3 As , the highest you can get in year 12. With a bit of luck I should be predicted A*AA or maybe even higher for year 13 if I keep the work up. My issue is I’m really eager to study law or English at Durham, however my GCSEs were good but not Durham standard. I got a few As and 1A* instead of all As and A*s. Would it still be worth applying? If I have a good PS and get a good score in the LNAT?

You may as well apply! You get to decide later on what you’d like your firm choice to be! It’s a great uni but you need to be ready for the workload, it’s more than most others for most degrees haha:)

Would I still be considered with the grades A*, A*, B?
(One grade lower, but also one grade higher to counteract that).

It’s definitely different and I do think there should be refunds of part of the value because its not the same. But at the same time I am getting a good education with some in person things and meeting new people so personally it’s still better than taking a gap year and not being able to travel etc

Cheers! I personally haven’t heard come across anything like that at all! When stories do come in the news it goes everywhere because it’s Durham, but the reality is that there’s always going to be a cross section of people no matter where you go, so unfortunately there will always at least a few of those terrible people everywhere. I would try to not let it affect your decision too much, it’s a fantastic uni. You’re obviously at a very high level so you have options at least! Do dm me with questions!

I guess one question I have is what made you choose Durham when you know you could’ve had a better social life elsewhere had it not been for the virus? From the youtube videos Warwick and Birmingham seem to give people a greater opportunity to socialise, what’s your opinion?
@@Ariettethe1st obviously I’m bias but being completely honest I’d say 100% it’s FAR easier to socialise at Durham. The college system is rare and it gives you a close group of people immediately and it’s easy to just head to other colleges which act as ‘hubs’ of activity almost. Because town is small you always bump into friends too, I’ve never gone for a walk and not met and spoken to someone I know along the way! Videos online are like social media, it’s all just anecdotal information but it’s up to you to make friends. If you’re a person who wants to socialise then you’ll be able be at all unis, but I do have to say that it’s probably easier with more opportunities to socialise at Durham than most others! There’s also a sense of understanding for boundaries because everyone there is working at such a high level which is also important to make the most of the uni experience I think

I got an offer from Durham for geophysics with geology Bsc! I applied for castle and was wondering if u knew anyone from castle and if it's as great as it seems?
Also has it been easy to inter grate at Durham or is it' quite cliquey already?
I'm really excited to firm Durham as they gave me an offer of BBB but I'm worried because the lack of diversity it might
be intimidating even though I'm excited to immerse in the uni culture :)
Congrats! I know quite a few people from Castle and they love it! It’s quite cliquey in that people seem to make friendship groups quite quickly. Don’t be worried, I’m sure you’ll love it and BBB is a great offer!
