Terence McKenna - The Next Phase of Human Existence

Terence McKenna believes that the current global civilization is dying due to accumulating problems such as the ozone hole and toxic pollution. Instead of clutching to keep things the same, we must embrace the transformation that is about to occur. McKenna draws a metaphor from embryology to explain this: just as a fetus goes through the entire history of evolution before birth, humanity is in the birth canal of a new ontological order of existence. This birthing process is violent, but shamans can act as midwives to a new order of existence. McKenna predicts that the masses of people taking psychedelics and talking about new shamanism mean we are very close to a higher dimension. The collapse of everything familiar will open our hearts and we will bury the dead and walk through hell. It can't fail to open our hearts.
