It sounds like a piece of music in a film , Like when someone has to travel and it highlights the best memories of the trip with music over it. Good stuff
I could feel my horizon expanding measurably. I don't know that I have ever heard music that was so out of the ordinary but sounded so good! It's quite different from the typical "Look what a strange instrument I have, hurr durr!"
It's amazing, I don't know if it was on purpose but you ended up with a groove containing several prominent percution and rythm characteristics of Cumbia from the Colombian Pacific. Even the orqueststion of some of the higher register flutes is similar to the traditional instruments it is played with. Great groove to get lost in dance with.
Wow, you are amazing! - I learn something every time I watch. - I'm a working musician but my real job is making sweet bamboo flutes and ocarinas and selling them at the Renaissance Festival here in Texas for about 25 years now. You are an inspiration! Love your videos!
the mouth violin is like how when you're brushing your teeth with an electric tooth brush and opening and closing your mouth, it makes differe vowel noises like this. same idea. it's almost like vowels are a lowpass filter.
Very good analogy there, and your conclusion is almost spot on, but instead of a lowpass filter, it's rather the other way around: the shape of your mouth causes different overtones on top of the root frequency to stand out, so it's actually a bandpass filter on high frequencies that works by only resonating with more or less one specific overtone. There are several different instruments that rely heavily on overtones, including but not limited to the k'ni, the mouth fiddle, a variation of which we see in the video, the didgeridoo, the jaw harp, and several different Mongolian/Tuvan singing techniques. As another interesting piece of side info: overtones are actually the only thing that makes us capable of articulating different vowels in the first place. For instance, when you form all of the vowels one after the other with your mouth while you have a tuner nearby, you will notice that you are keeping the same pitch during all of them. Since your mouth and throat are both open all the time, the only way it's possible you are able to create a different sound must be the overtones changing with the shape of your mouth, tongue, and throat
I love your acoustic creativity. While many sound experimenters I know tend to specialize in wind or string or percussion your ability to do all of these things without limit is inspiring.

I have one idea how to fix your problem with AC hum from piezo mic/pickup ... You need a simple audio transformer (is not expensive) --- just add the audio transformer after the output of piezo mic, and before the input of your audio interface/amp/etc. I think this simplest mod can to fix your problem with this hum.
