I sold my FN 57 pistol, that I never really liked shooting due to poor ergonomics (for me) Picked up the Rock and have never looked back. As you can tell from his video it is just so much fun to shoot. I have over 1.5K rounds through mine of various types with minimal issues. For my Rock there was definitely a break in period in which the trigger improved dramatically. I have ventured into reloading the 5.7 cartridge. If done correctly reloads function very reliable, and each cartridge can be reloaded around 4 times before the primer pocket gets loose. I have only reloaded FN stamped brass.

I just picked up my M&P for $574. What sold me on this that you didn’t really mention (why?) is yeah it’s loud- but the ability to run a small diameter .22 suppressor WITHOUT a piston buffer completely changes the game. Shooting a canned 9mm pistol really is not that great of a proposition even though it looks cool in the movies. But this could be totally different and far more practical to actually shoot canned regularly
Just make sure your mags drop free (if that’s important to you) if you get a non-black Rock. We’ve got 3 of these in our family. We love them. But we’ve sent 4 brand new mags back to PSA over 1.5 months. This issue is known to them and at least one review on their site mentions it. I tried to post a review but they won’t approve my review. 3 stars due to magazine issue.
If you want the extended threaded barrel for ballistics sake but dont want to leave it plain jane can throw an ar15 a2 birdcage on the front of it for a few bucks. Had a Wilson combat one I put on a 20 inch faxon gunner barrel had kickin around. Took it off and it fit on the Rock so I left it on it ever since. Probably gonna try to stretch a standard glock sized hogue beavertail grip on it at somepoint to beef it out a bit but out of the box actually kind of a fan of the sandpaper grip. Is definitely more retentive than some molded poly grips ive tried over the years. And then just threw a hogue rubber grip on.
The non tilting barrel reminds me of the CZ Kadet .22lr slide. Wonder if PSA will make a compact sub gun in 5.7? Probably won’t be like an FN PS90. Also to lower the cost of ammo it could possibly be reloaded as long as the components are available so keep your brass!
There is a coating on factory brass cases to aide with extraction. It wears off after tumbling in a regular medium as well as from the resizing process. Reloads will fail to extract on a regular basis but can still ease the pain if used just on the range. You will get more time on practicing failure to extract drills.
How ridiculous that you had to blur out the correct way to insert a magazine. Glad RUclips finally came to its senses. Keep up the reviews. They're excellent.
I'm know right its freaking ridiculous that content creators such as mike here have to blur not something as simple as loading a magazine into a firearm

Absolutely trust your reviews and I'm glad you like it because this for me is a dream pistol. I have rheumatoid arthritis in both hands so there are times 9mm is too much. This, has enough power and speed I absolutely want this weapon. Great review too
Great review as always. Cant get over the ammo price. Would live to have one if the ammo was as cheap as 9mm or 40 even. I'm still too poor even though the pistol is a great price.
I have one on order with the threaded barrel and will be running a suppressor on it for my bedside gun. It will still be a bit loud indoors, but the suppressor should take a bit of the edge off. Nice review!
@@TheAsheybabe89 if you hate it so much why are you spending so much time responding to all these comments? Not to mention your opinion definitely lets us know you are sadly very misinformed about 5.7...yeah 5.7 is underpowered by big name ammo manufacturers. But find some boutique places like those who make the black fangs and they will pierce 3A armor and they are comparable to being hit with a .223 they dump all their energy and tumble inside the body. Not to mention the ammo capacity and recoil blows 9mm and up out of the water.
Every review with this round, regardless of the firearm, shows minimal muzzle jump and decent shooters ringing up targets blazing fast. This thing is a laser gun. I see A LOT of 5.7's selling in the immediate future.
I'd like to have a 5.7 pistol of some sort, some day. It's great that so these companies are coming out with their own models for the caliber. I really wish someone would come out with a compact version of one though. I'd love to have one as a carry gun. For me, I'll easily take a (less powerful caliber) flat shooting, low recoil pistol over even a 9mm. They're just so much easier to shoot and be very accurate with, for me anyway.
@@sapperROSS No kidding. Well I'm a rather smaller statured guy, not sure if a full size piece would hide very well for me. I even print like a mother with my PPS, at least in appendix.
I noticed the brass flow is very constant in terms of travel. You can see them fly same rout no notice of stays. Thanks for the video
PSA is doing a incredible job
I own a Dagger .. great little pistol
Looking forward to the Dagger Micro
PSA also have a 5.7 Rock compact on the slate
Congratulations you have been selected among our shortlisted winner, contact the number above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^✅
Great review 👍👍👍
I always come here before buying a firearm. Thanks for the review
So you knew this question was coming. Compare the PSA 5.7, Ruger 57, and the S&W M&P 5.7. Which one do you prefer and why?
Wow. That thing launches the brass to the moon!
I have the ruger 57 and I love it and commonly carry it alternating it with my Springfield XD 40
Need a video with all the 5.7 pistols
Looking at getting one of these. Just found about it. I have the ruger 57. Just bought the sw mp57. Traded a keltec p50 (I had 2) for an Anderson custom ar15 57 that takes the 50 round mag like the keltec. Love the 57 round.
Wound up buying 2 psa rock 57s
Absolutely trust your reviews and I'm glad you like it because this for me is a dream pistol. I have rheumatoid arthritis in both hands so there are times 9mm is too much. This, has enough power and speed I absolutely want this weapon. Great review too
So what would you pick between this and the s&w? Really curious on if the smith "gas system" makes a difference.
DITTO, please give us the A/B betweenn those two. I can already tell you the Rock beats the Ruger...so don't bother.
Good honest review Ty
You're welcome 👍🏽
@@Mrgunsngear do you regret the buy?
Well I’ve been real hesitant to add one of these to my gun safe, but I think it may be in the future
Of all the 5.7 you have reviewed, which one did you personally like best?
Would like to see a head to head comparison now of the Rock, M&P and Ruger 57.
I've got a Rock and I love it. Great price to get into 5.7.
Helpful review.
im not typically a 5.7 fan, BUT, i can see in a situation where you cant have a rifle, this might be a good second best option.
Why?
The loudness is probably because of the supersonic round. 1800 to 2200 feet per second compared to the 9mm that is subsonic, under 1200 fps generally.
It's loud, because you are shooting a rifle round through a pistol. Only 147 grain 9mm is subsonic. The speed of sound is 1,086 ft/s.
Nice review!
This is one of the strangest combos I have ever heard for a bedside gun. This caliber is one of the worst options imaginable for the role 😂
Thanks for the video.
Every review with this round, regardless of the firearm, shows minimal muzzle jump and decent shooters ringing up targets blazing fast. This thing is a laser gun.
I see A LOT of 5.7's selling in the immediate future.
selling to morons
I'd like to have a 5.7 pistol of some sort, some day. It's great that so these companies are coming out with their own models for the caliber.
I really wish someone would come out with a compact version of one though. I'd love to have one as a carry gun. For me, I'll easily take a (less powerful caliber) flat shooting, low recoil pistol over even a 9mm. They're just so much easier to shoot and be very accurate with, for me anyway.
I conceal carry my fn 5.7, it hides much better than my 19x
@@sapperROSS No kidding. Well I'm a rather smaller statured guy, not sure if a full size piece would hide very well for me. I even print like a mother with my PPS, at least in appendix. I find strong side carry way more comfortable and less printy. Maybe a full size would work there for me; I'd have to try it I guess. Interesting though.
Sucks cause I like to wear tighter fitting clothes and they aren't very conducive to carry in my experience. Plus I think my posture is stupid and contributes to difficulty in hiding it lol. I'm all f'd up.
@@clamum9648 flex fit pants are key
The effectiveness of this round is very much dependent on velocity. The longer the barrel, the better performance you'll realize.
XS sights are really awesome. Love some big dots.
