I just picked up my M&P for $574. What sold me on this that you didn’t really mention (why?) is yeah it’s loud- but the ability to run a small diameter .22 suppressor WITHOUT a piston buffer completely changes the game. Shooting a canned 9mm pistol really is not that great of a proposition even though it looks cool in the movies. But this could be totally different and far more practical to actually shoot canned regularly
The non tilting barrel reminds me of the CZ Kadet .22lr slide. Wonder if PSA will make a compact sub gun in 5.7? Probably won’t be like an FN PS90. Also to lower the cost of ammo it could possibly be reloaded as long as the components are available so keep your brass!
There is a coating on factory brass cases to aide with extraction. It wears off after tumbling in a regular medium as well as from the resizing process. Reloads will fail to extract on a regular basis but can still ease the pain if used just on the range. You will get more time on practicing failure to extract drills.
Looking at getting one of these. Just found about it. I have the ruger 57. Just bought the sw mp57. Traded a keltec p50 (I had 2) for an Anderson custom ar15 57 that takes the 50 round mag like the keltec. Love the 57 round.
Why does RUclips sensor the mechanics of adding a magazine, of a suppressor? Most Millennials and Gen Zs don't know how to change a tire, a light bulb, or any basic mechanical repairs.
Thanks Mike! One thing Id like to see is grip texturing on the corners of the grip. Especially with a grip thats flat on the sides. I find that those corners would make better contact with your palms. Ty
In a handgun, the caliber is fine for competition shooting or hunting small game. Perhaps matched with a carbine for military &/or law enforcement. Not so much for carry self defense, general shooting, or fun plinking. It seems like the idea of squeezing the 5.56 down to handgun size hasn't really taken off, but also refuses to die.
Look up what happened at Ft. Hood on 05 November 2009. Thirteen fatalities and more than 30 wounded. One man with one gun in ten minutes. Your assessment is way off.
@@InGratitudeIamThat doesn't prove the purpose of the caliber, just its lethalness (which I never questioned). I would put the Ft. Hood shooting as being more similar to a planned military action than a self-defense situation. IMO the 5.7 is a caliber that excels in some ways, but still hasn't caught on overall for good reason.
@@InGratitudeIam Your assessment is way off if you compare a terrorist attack in a gun-free zone to a self defense situation. For starters, training with 5.7 is just more expensive than with any other service caliber. Then there is the rather anemic performance of 5.7 out of a pistol. There is also the lack of compact 5.7 handguns.
Not quite. The barrel moves about 1/4 inch back and features a delay cam in the frame that slows the barrel movement. Actually a really neat operation.
I want to get into a 5.7, but ammo prices and availability still aren't quite there yet. There's only a couple flavors and most of them are at or near a buck a round, if I could pick up a box of 50 for 20 bucks, I'd jump on the train.
Every review with this round, regardless of the firearm, shows minimal muzzle jump and decent shooters ringing up targets blazing fast. This thing is a laser gun. I see A LOT of 5.7's selling in the immediate future.
Great reviews as always.. Though this is 1st vid I've seen of yours in awhile here on RUclips. I have to figure out what's up.. TY. Stay Safe Stay Positive Stay Healthy and Blessed. Big Jim New Hampshire USA aka BOSTON STRONG
I'd like to have a 5.7 pistol of some sort, some day. It's great that so these companies are coming out with their own models for the caliber. I really wish someone would come out with a compact version of one though. I'd love to have one as a carry gun. For me, I'll easily take a (less powerful caliber) flat shooting, low recoil pistol over even a 9mm. They're just so much easier to shoot and be very accurate with, for me anyway.
@@sapperROSS No kidding. Well I'm a rather smaller statured guy, not sure if a full size piece would hide very well for me. I even print like a mother with my PPS, at least in appendix. I find strong side carry way more comfortable and less printy. Maybe a full size would work there for me; I'd have to try it I guess. Interesting though. Sucks cause I like to wear tighter fitting clothes and they aren't very conducive to carry in my experience. Plus I think my posture is stupid and contributes to difficulty in hiding it lol. The loudness is probably because of the supersonic round. 1800 to 2200 feet per second compared to the 9mm that is subsonic, under 1200 fps generally.

Maybe PSA doesn't like the TFB channel, LOL. I'm only half joking, it wouldn't be in their interest to intentionally ship bad guns and then incorrect parts.
I’m seriously thinking about picking one of these up one of these days
PSA had a sale, just pulled the trigger on one. Holosun optic and threaded barrel $599.
nice
@@Mrgunsngear I'm thinking of the TLR-8, green laser. They come with different mount setups but none for the "Rock" of course. Looks like the "universal" option would be the correct choice. Any experience?
Thank you Mike! Based on your review of the M&P 5.7, I’m getting ready to buy one. NOW… I want this one too. PLEASE do a comparison video??! Love your stuff! Oh, hey, also gonna get a Ruger security .380 after watching your vid!
He did mention that.
Wound up buying 2 psa rock 57s
I always come here before buying a firearm. Thanks for the review
Great review. Just what I was looking for. I am sold.
Why does RUclips sensor the mechanics of adding a magazine, of a suppressor? Most Millennials and Gen Zs don't know how to change a tire, a light bulb, or any basic mechanical repairs.
PSA, PLEASE MAKE A H&K MP5 that uses your AK-V mags & a last rnd hold open. I'll add it to my collection of your firearms from you I already own 🇺🇲
im not typically a 5.7 fan, BUT, i can see in a situation where you cant have a rifle, this might be a good second best option.
Why?
5.7 -- I have no problem using it in the situation described. Folks can debate this topic - in the end - you make the choice.
Thanks for the video. M.A.C. and you have me sold on this pistol. Will definitely be picking one up soon.
So it is direct blowback? Also, the internals in the slide and frame look identical to the Taurus TX-22.
Not quite. The barrel moves about 1/4 inch back and features a delay cam in the frame that slows the barrel movement. Actually a really neat operation.
@Awag1000 okay, so it's a delayed blowback👍🏻
Time to buy one. Thanks for the great review.
I have a Rock also absolutely love it. Thanks for your great reviews

I want to get into a 5.7, but ammo prices and availability still aren't quite there yet. There's only a couple flavors and most of them are at or near a buck a round, if I could pick up a box of 50 for 20 bucks, I'd jump on the train.
You will be waiting quite awhile.
@@FXIIBeaver i agree with you friend!
There’s no shot you’re ever going to find 5.7 ammo for $20 per box, but the most useful stuff is ~$5 per round anyway
The YT censoring of inserting the mag is beyond ludicrous.
Great review as always 🫡
I've been waiting for GNG to review this, thanks
Thanks for the review one I always trust when looking for a review on said firearms keep up the GREAT work.
would love to see your opinion on the new Tisas 5.7... and maybe a round up comparo.
Thanks 👍 great content as always
With regards to blast and sound, a .40 S&W is considerably louder and snappier than a 9mm, so I’m curious to see how a 5.7 would compare
Compare pea 5.7 and mp 5.7
excellent review ,facts and honest no fluff.
I appreciate that
I have one it's nice ✌️ now PSA needs to make an AR-5.7👍
Love mine, glad you agree.. if I have to shoot it inside without ear pro, noise isn't my biggest issue.
Thanks for all the work you do!
Compared to the M&P? Didnt hear you mention vs the S&W
Every review with this round, regardless of the firearm, shows minimal muzzle jump and decent shooters ringing up targets blazing fast. This thing is a laser gun.
I see A LOT of 5.7's selling in the immediate future.
selling to morons
I noticed the brass flow is very constant in terms of travel. You can see them fly same rout no notice of stays. Thanks for the video
So you like it better than the m&p 5.7?
Lol @youtube censoring him loading the mag like it was Japanese porn
I'd like to have a 5.7 pistol of some sort, some day. It's great that so these companies are coming out with their own models for the caliber.
I really wish someone would come out with a compact version of one though. I'd love to have one as a carry gun. For me, I'll easily take a (less powerful caliber) flat shooting, low recoil pistol over even a 9mm. They're just so much easier to shoot and be very accurate with, for me anyway.
I conceal carry my fn 5.7, it hides much better than my 19x
@@sapperROSS No kidding. Well I'm a rather smaller statured guy, not sure if a full size piece would hide very well for me. I even print like a mother with my PPS, at least in appendix. I find strong side carry way more comfortable and less printy. Maybe a full size would work there for me; I'd have to try it I guess. Interesting though.
Sucks cause I like to wear tighter fitting clothes and they aren't very conducive to carry in my experience. Plus I think my posture is stupid and contributes to difficulty in hiding it lol. I'm all f'd up.
@@clamum9648 flex fit pants are key
The effectiveness of this round is very much dependent on velocity. The longer the barrel, the better performance you'll realize.
I’m confused… if the barrel does not tilt, how does it lockup? Is it direct blowback?
