      He was 31 in this 1984 appearance. Today he looks slightly younger than his age. Must be all that hiking.

      I always thought it was odd to have his hair parted in the middle like a seventh grader, but now I'm not sure if it wasn't the right choice, after all. Love that guy!

      He was nervous but fought through it. I wish I could have been to his show he did in my area earlier in the year. After watching this, I won't miss his next one.

      I don't disagree, Kevin is super quick... but he's surely using some of his on-stage material even in the interview, e.g. "the next best thing to being there is being with someone who looks similar"

      @@gradeahonky i was in the audience (a teenager), there was supposed to be someone playing the piano before nealon came on but he slammed his hand in the car door so he couldn't play. johnny asked if anyone in the audience could play and a guy wearing jeans, a t-shirt and thongs went up and played. he could play and he was a ham so things were pretty loose in the studio prior to nealon coming on.

    The 'perfect' hand sign and verbal aknowledegement from Carson at the very end of the interview. That set him up for a great career, as we all know he had.

    Wow ... Kevin moved from CT to LA in 1977 just after I moved from LA to SF to PA to Boston, MA to NYC to Chicago, back to NYC, up to Saratoga Springs, and to Rowayton, CT, then to Philly and back to LA in 1980. Crazy! Maybe if I'd have gotten on Johnny, I wouldn't have had to move so much!

    Met him at a Sarah Silverman stand-up after-thing. Not the most exciting guy, but some good bits (radio host interviewing Joe Mantegna's NY PR rep in the face of a crime wave: "Where else are you going to get Chinese at 3 AM? Try that in Santa Fe!").

    It’s weird watching Carson interviewing because it feels like actual casual conversation.

      I honestly think it's a skill, and Jonny made it feel so loose and casual.
      I miss him so much, his charming style, never stalled out for very long at all...just Mr smooth

      @@josephhertzberg2734 You couldn't because people have too many choices and would change the channel as soon as something hits a dead end. Remember, Johnny did this in an era with no internet, 12 TV channels, and for the first 20 or so years most viewers didn't even have a remote.

    What's funny is, Kevin dated Rosalind Chao for a while. He's actually my cousin and I got to meet her in person. Very sweet lady! Got to take a picture with her and everything.

    The joke about him playing with the little piece of pork was freakin hysterical but then the parts about making tough decisions were brutal. He just kept giving example after example that weren't the least bit funny. That was weird.
