You won't be able to buy a house with gold, or food... how will you buy 100$ worth of groceries, with 1g of gold?! With silver maybe, but gold isn't good for everyday trading. But, trading services, trading goods... producing some vegetables and fruit to trade for wood products for example, that can work. Don't buy all at one time do it over time so that you get dollar cost averaging and that is mainly that you will take it in the shorts when you buy because you always pay a Premium over spot for Gold and Silver and then when you go to silver you take it in the shorts again when you go to sell it. Let the Silver and Gold work for you over time. Holding physical gold and Silver is a (long game). If you buy and sell in the short run you will almost always lose money because of the Premium over spot price. The premium is how even the big boy dealers make their money they have to make money like any other business and same for your Licensed Coin Dealer. You almost always should go with a big Licensed Dealer. I get almost all of my gold and silver from SD Bullion. They always have the lowest prices ( I check) and they will buy back your Silver and gold for top dollar. Selling to a LCD they will give you the least amount of money when you sell.
