Put baby to the breast to stimulate production. They spend a lot of time on the breast in the early days cos you get a small amount. Make sure you pump when baby is asleep. In the bath / shower is best for pumping the warm water / steam induces milk production. Drink lots of water and eat lots of leafy greens. I also made tea with fenugreek seeds. Used to produce pints daily. My breastfed babies were FAT! Lol my health visitor said I had ‘gold top’ I donated some of my milk to the hospital for preemies too. Xx

@@l.m6869 there is no routine, you should be pumping/nursing as often as your baby is feeding. Empty out your breasts before bedtime as well. That’s it. No special foods just make sure you’re eating good meals. I’ve done several things in my diet while breastfeeding, including fasting and eating one time a day. Quality meals and good hydration of your choices is all you need. Do your research, learn your body as it changes each week, keep stress on your mind and body to a minimum or that will kill your supply.

Hi congratulations on your baby. I am a new mom, no experience whatsoever, and 3 months post-partum. I've learned that I am an over producer. It's bittersweet. Regardless of how much you pump, it's a lot of work. Stress effects your pumping experience so when you do pump, make sure you are comfortable, drink water, and think about your beautiful baby. I'll start with...
Hydrate- Hydrate, hydrate hydrate 24/7!! I drink a lot of water. Don't force yourself but listen to your body. The more you drink, the more your body get used to drinking that amount.
Oatmeal-helps with lactation production, make smoothies with oatmeal (not an oatmeal fan? I've heard brewers yeast also helps production also so i put 1 teaspoon of that in my smoothies)
      Almonds-helps sweeten milk
Find a schedule that works for you. It doesn't have to be exactly 2 hours or 3. Its when your body tell you. Pumping all day is exhausting mentally and physically, trust me! If you can't pump, still find ways that you can release your milk because it will hurt! I suggest the haakaa they help when i dont want to pump. I hope this helps.

@@judyhodges1266 yeah so your body right now hasnt regulated yet before i regulated i was getting 4-6 and sometimes 8oz every pump, and then after 12 weeks your hormones go back to pre pregnancy levels which instead of hormone related prolactin release youre now relying on supply and demand, my son is now 5 months old and i have to maintain my pumping nursing nutrition and water intake daily ontop of lactation supplements and baby formula to provide what i need as i barely get enough to meet his needs. Most women have oversupplies in the first 12 weeks but your body eventually stops engorging and leaking and your breasts become softer even when full. Its unfortunate but one tip i learned in CLC classes were even a tablespoon of milk a day is beneficial for your baby, which helped me feel accomplished with my 16m old premie who i couldnt produce for. I had so many moms call me panicked because of their supply dropping at around 14 weeks and couldnt understand why until i explained and helped them. Sizing your flanges and finding a good strong pump helps tremendously but some women just dont produce what is needed.
Ive worked with moms who had an insane oversupply for 12 weeks and then dropped to barely an oz and then i know moms who who have an oversupply for months until a year old. It just depends on the mother. About 30% of women cant produce milk at all unfortunately or have a significant under supply. Ive worked with all kinds of milk supply, but i have 2 under 2 right now so that stress also prevents oxytocin release which is needed for let downs.
I wish you best of luck and hope you can maintain everything you need for your LO, and if you ever need help feel free to reach out!
      -CLC

I tried my hardest to breastfeed with my first and it only lasted about 2 months because I was barely getting 2oz of milk on each side and she was eating more than what I could produce and I’d feed her and an hour after she ate I’d try to pump and I just remember it being so depressing for me. I’m 2 months away from having my second now and I want to try breastfeeding again and am trying to learn tips and tricks and hopefully get better results this time around.

My baby is 3weeks tomorrow and I’ve tried the munchkin lactation pack that includes lactation cookies, tea, smoothie powder and powdered drink/juice to put in water. I use at least one product per day and try not to put pressure on myself. I also have a massager that helps too.

You should drink plenty of water (make sure you drink a full 8oz every time you breastfeed), sleep whenever baby is sleeping, make sure you're getting proper calories...and continue with your prenatals. And, feed baby literally every time baby requests it. If they're sucking on their hands, that's an early hunger cue. Other cues are tongue thrusting and rooting (moving head to side with mouth open). Also, when they bob their head up and down they're also searching for the nipple. Remember, crying is a late sign of hunger. The hardest time is when they are cluster feeding. My babies will literally feed for 10-20 mins...I finally get them to sleep and 5 mins later they wake up wanting to eat again. And this sometimes goes on for days with little to no breaks. It's super hard and you need to have a supportive partner to help you. You also need to make sure you sleep those 5 mins they are sleeping, if that's all they'll give you. But, once you're on the other side they will sleep in longer stretches because you're bringing in enough milk for them and they feel more satisfied at their feedings.
