This movie is really rewatchable. Just a well-crafted film...with enough interpersonal humor with Downey, Gyllenhaal, Ruffalo and the bit parts to bring some levity. Also love that time lapse construction scene of the pyramid that acts as an intermission.
I rarely rewatch movies, in part because there are so many movies I haven't seen and want to, but also because it would be very easy for me to just watch Zodiac over and over again.
One of my favorite movies. Also if you loved this movie, you might want to check out Mindhunter, very similar tone, ideas, stories, and Fincher also directed several episodes of it.
"Every other David Fincher film are the children of Don Siegel's Dirty Harry." -Quentin Tarantino in his Cinema Speculation book, 2022 (Me posting this is not necessarily an endorsement of this opinion, it's just an interesting take)
Ok, jwbs, I implore you to seek out the dvd of David mammets SPARTAN, 2005 for Val kilmers commentary. It is a weird wild and hilarious commentary that needs the treatment. 🙏 thank you for your work.
This movie is the very best telling of this true crime story. That said, I have a hard time with anything that is anti-climatic. Not knowing who the killer was makes it difficult to want to rewatch it. I’m sure for some that makes it scarier in a way because it lets your imagination run wild. But for me it feels like it’s missing something, that reveal. Obviously it’s not the creators fault, he did the absolute best with what he had to work with.
Hey man, I don’t know if you read the book by Robert Graysmith, but that book scared the hell out of me. I read that book in 1988. I was in Sunnyvale California less than 40 miles from San Francisco. I read it on 3rd Shift . Every time I went outside, I thought the zodiac killer was gonna continue his killing spree with me.😂
I definitely outgrew Fincher, honestly speaking. But I do appreciate this film. Might be a hot take but I believe it to be his best film. He's obsessed with Killers. It's true. But he always remembers to tell the story of the detectives too, the people who have to resolve the killing. His stories about other things always seem to be missing something essential. Can't put my finger on it.
I would tend to agree - Panic Room & The Game are a bit lacklustre compared to the rest, but if you want to watch a movie about a killer, Fincher's are the best
@@karanvirkooner1993 Was debating this on Popcorn in Bed. Cassie hates horror and rarely watches them but I convinced everyone it was a Real Crime Drama and she ended up watching. She now calls it an Investigative Thriller.
I wonder if Fincher has seen the Family Guy Mindhunter shout out yet. I guess Seth loves it if he put it in a church scene :P ruclips.net/user/shortsy-0CX0pjais?si=GjQ7ZSIRmnraKtuh

I love this channel so much
ZODIAC is an absolute masterpiece.
This is my favorite Fincher movie. He always does good commentaries. I was just re-listening to his Chinatown commentary with Robert Town, too
This makes it very clear why Fincher was the best choice for the Netflix series, Mindhunter
Mindhunter definitely wouldn't exist without Zodiac, Mindhunter could easily be a spiritual successor and sequel to Zodiac just the way its shot.
The film and series feature a phenomenal soundtrack that serves as a powerful narrative tool
He needs to do more of that show
@@Real_Name_Jim I think he came out and finally said it’s dead dead :/
I find myself randomly throughout the day going OH NO LETS GO
This is by far and away the best channel on RUclips. Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos
“The last time I saw this face was July 4th, 1969. I am very sure that's the man who shot me."
That suddenly loud music drowning out the final dialogue made a very unsatisfying conclusion to an otherwise thought-provoking short.
Was looking for this. I was enthralled and then I thought I was having a stroke.

Highlights how much the world has changed in the last 35-40 years.
Only a couple more weeks until the 4K Blu Ray comes out 🎉
One of the handful of true masterpieces in the last 50 years. And the best film of 2007.
There Will Be Blood and No Country will forgive your hyperbole.
Don’t be ridiculous, Ratatouille is clearly the best film of 2007
I think you are all forgetting Jerry Seinfeld’s Bee Movie
@@thesilentcontemptexactly! Heck, Zodiac was waaaaaay too long imo. I saw it when it opened..
@@thesilentcontempt Zodiac is better than both. 👍

I really liked this video and how it was edited together, but please make that end music quieter so we can hear what he is saying!
Because of this movie, I do not go anywhere unarmed.

You are afraid and that is what "evil" wants. We would live in a better world if no one walked around with a weapons on them.
Zodiac has major replay value.

Great movie. The zodiac costume is cool looking.
I dig your channel and Prince, thanks!

What’s the second prince song in the intro?
Intro and outro music is too loud. Couldn't hear Fincher's last words.
I also think that Rad is the origin story for the Zodiac killer
👍👍👍
the end audio gets a little wonky
