It's infuriating to hear people spout the lie that Americans are unwilling to do agricultural or factory jobs. Americans just won't do those jobs at the driven down wages due to unlawful immigration. Also, I absolutely agree with seasonal work visas.

You’re so right Charlie! My husband is Egyptian it took us 4 1/2 years to get him here LEGALLY! Once he was here he was working before he got health insurance he had to go to the ER the lady at the hospital put him in for Medicaid just until he got insurance but he was turned down because he’s not a citizen!!! I mean he pays taxes and he couldn’t get help just for a month or so! Yet these people come in illegally and live better than our veterans!! They get everything! It’s so wrong!!

No, Charlie! We allow too many people into the US legally and illegally. Moreover, the process to obtain American citizenship is too easy. A person who arrives legally to US should have to wait 25 years to become a citizen. I lived in Mexico for a few years and as a Spanish language interpreter, I can tell you most of Latin America believes that they have the right to relocate to the US. That mindset must be crushed forever. Coming to the US should be the toughest process in the world. After all, we are the best nation on Earth and as such we must begin to only allow in the best. To do this we must end all family visas, the visa lottery and other visa programs.

My siblings, cousins, friends as young as 5 y/o used to go berry picking and other produce collection at local farms to earn our candy money or to help out the family. We baby sat at early ages and had jobs at 13 y/o, I don't recall ever seeing immigrants in the fields or work places. We have sadly become a spoiled and selfish society.

In my case, I came to this country by the help of my aunt with her effort with the documentation to apply for the humanitarian parole, I am honest, I had a good job in my country and if I decided to come here it was I didn't lose the opportunity to know and grow in this country, we did all process legally and I had my legal documentation already, I found a job and I pay my taxes and I am grateful with the opportunity that this country is giving me.
By other hand, I have always been against the illegal immigration both here how in my native country because you don't know the kind of people are entering and what kind of plans they have, I know, they are good and bad people in everyplace, however that is not a reason for breaking the rules and crossing illegal, try to do the things correctly and avoid problems.

As a Filipino we supply and produce most of the overseas workers in the world. I agree with Charlie instead of catering to this illegal immigrants, US should focus on overseas workers who are more productive than illegal aliens.
Live in an area with tons of factories, there are plenty of American workers at them. Has nothing to do with Americans not being willing to do the work. Its when immagrants flood into a factory pay goes down. We have one factory, Dwanes Metal that is strictly immagrants. They dont even higher Americans anymore, thats a problem. When a small town of 10k people starts dealing with that it hurts the town over all. Plus now those people are looking for places to live, in small towns like this that makes it impossible for legal citizens to then find affordable housing.

Idk if the way to explain it to them is to make it personal. What if someone illegally entered your house? Is it racist to not want this complete stranger living in your house doing who knows what? Should you be forced to pay all their bills, even if they happen to do the dishes? Contrast that to allowing someone you know into the house, maybe you worked out renting a room or something. If you don't want to pay for a random person to live in your house, why would you encourage everyone to pay for it through social services? Is them breaking into your home not evidence enough that maybe they shouldn't be there? Do you not care when it affects everyone, but when it's just you it's suddenly not ok?

Charlie, I strongly disagree with your idea on wanting an unlimited amount of "genius/merit" visas. Sure, intelligent and useful people are what any society needs to be successful and survive. That being said, the places these people come from also need to be successful and survive. Many of these places need to greatly improve, which would then not only help the lives of all the people in those countries, but would also greatly reduce the masses trying to leave and illegally invade the USA, and give them something to live for in their own countries. Limit all visas strategically for many reasons.
I don't know if we should make that decision for those individuals, but I see where you're coming from. I suppose the next question is whether not accepting them has any impact on the developing countries. Like if we say no, then Canada says yes, your objective failed. If everyone says no, does the country improve, or do they have less skilled workers? It's physically possible that some people would only gain these skills in order to move to the US. If that's not a possibility then they may not try at all, which is also a net loss.

When we take those immigrants that Charlie wants here legally that hurts the countries they are coming from. When you take the skilled immigrants you're hurting those countries by taking their skilled, educated people that could benefit their own country and help to make it better. We're just leaving the unskilled, uneducated people in those countries and those countries can't improve without the skill, educated, and really intelligent people. Its just an endless cycle. We help those countries by not taking their best and brightest. If we wanted to help we could spend a fraction of what we spend on immigration to build education and vocational programs in those countries. Of course we would need partners from other countries to make that happen. That's how you improve the world. Thats why that saying ,"give a man a fish he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime", is logically sound. When you just give handouts to these countries thay have no way to build a sense of pride.

Refugees escaping the violence and craziness the Mexico and South/Central America deserve our help and support. Simple as that. And our demographics demand that we accept ALL the immigrants we can. The rest of the industrialized world is facing an aging population and shrinking working class. Immigrants are both a consumer and a labor force. And we need both in America.
Mr. Kirk, if you could take the time, or someone else please help ease a worry I have. I don't really follow anything on TV and I am glad I do not. My father however who at one time tried to convince me be Republican has brought up something that I cannot believe. He claims that if elected Trump will enact project 25 which states that the government needs to be overthrown. I skimmed through it and it looked more like a goal that any political party would have. Please tell me that no one plans on using Force to destroy this great country.
