In the book of the Prophet Jeremiah, chapter 13, Rabbi Steve Berkson teaches about this illustration that YHWH showed the prophet in an example of a "girdle" or support band that people wore at the time to make the point in how YHWH desires His people to cling to Him - to support Him by their emunah (faith).
